Meghan McCain is a perculiar creature of habit. At moments she'll make sense and then it's back to the village with the rest of her family. Of course, it's understandable that she would feel this sense of connection with many conservative talking-points, seeing as her father is John McCain. From my POV, she tries to play up the "mavericky" role and ends up looking just plain silly most of the time. It would be nice if she would just be honest about what she believes in. I'm sure it's in there, she just doesn't want to disappoint daddy.
Last night Jon Stewart did a segment on something I have been bitching about. He did it on Glenn Beck pushing people to buy gold on his show while also working for a gold investment company. Hopefully C&L will get the clip. It's good!
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Obama's Big Sellout: The President Has Packed His Economic Team with Wall Street Insiders: by Matt Taibbi - http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/31...
What's taken place in the year since Obama won the presidency has turned out to be one of the most dramatic political about-faces in our history. Elected in the midst of a crushing economic crisis brought on by a decade of orgiastic deregulation and unchecked greed, Obama had a clear mandate to rein in Wall Street and remake the entire structure of the American economy.
What he did instead was ship even his most marginally progressive campaign advisers off to various bureaucratic Siberias, while packing the key economic positions in his White House with the very people who caused the crisis in the first place. This new team of bubble-fattened ex-bankers and laissez-faire intellectuals then proceeded to sell us all out, instituting a massive, trickle-up bailout and systematically gutting regulatory reform from the inside.
There are four main ways to be connected to Bob Rubin: through Goldman Sachs, the Clinton administration, Citigroup and, finally, the Hamilton Project, a think tank Rubin spearheaded under the auspices of the Brookings Institute to promote his philosophy of balanced budgets, free trade and financial deregulation.
The team Obama put in place to run his economic policy after his inauguration was dominated by people who boasted connections to at least one of these four institutions. -- The significance of all of these appointments isn't that the Wall Street types are now in a position to provide direct favors to their former employers. - It's that, with one or two exceptions, they collectively offer a microcosm of what the Democratic Party has come to stand for in the 21st century.

If being cold means there's no such thing as global warming, does being full mean there's no such thing as world hunger?
SERENITY NOW! SERENITY NOW! That was the funniest episode on Seinfeld. I yell it every now and then when I'm listening to/reading all this BS from the teabaggers and the GOP.
The company holiday party will happen here in a couple hours, so there is cooking going on the break room--turkey, ham, other delights. So when I read "crackpot press," it went into my brain as "crockpot press." Context is everything, LOL!
Here's an amazing factoid for you. The tobacco industry gave millions of dollars to Sen. Jesse Helms, so when Helms was doing his gay-bashing act on the Senate floor, the tobacco industry was paying for his microphones.
So, where were the screams when lesbian icon Billie Jean King agreed to be on Philip Morris' board of directors?
