Any "reform" that places restrictions on who can buy in is NOT reform, will NOT create competition and does NOTHING to lower prices... which I thought was supposed to be the entire point of reform.

Dean's right. Kill it.

ADDENDUM: HuffPo has Dean on Olbermann.

Jon Stewart On Copenhagen, Limos, and Climate Deniers (Video) - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/12/jon-s...
Jon Stewart kicked off the week with coverage of the COP15 climate summit in Copenhagen. He does an admirable job of summing up the good, the bad, the ridiculous, and the maddening from the news that's emerged over the last couple of days.
For the record, that's one of my favorite attacks on climate change that Stewart mocks in there: that global warming is a hoax designed to line scientists' and Al Gore's pockets. Seriously--it's one hell of a PR machine that can convince anyone that the money grubbers in this scenario are the scientists--and not the fossil fuel execs who probably make more money than all the scientists in the world combined.

We told you so: Black Carbon Identified as a Key Element in Himalayan Glacier Melting - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/12/black...
Black carbon is produced by diesel engines, coal-fired power plants, industrial processes, and outdoor cooking stoves in India and China, and is pulled into the Himalayas by circulating air currents. The dark soot absorbs solar radiation, warming the air that crashes against the foothills of the Himalayas and propels it into higher elevations. This "heat pump" effect is thought to be the source of the region's rapid warming.

Stimulus Bill On Track to Create at Least 900,000 Clean Energy Jobs - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/12/stimu...
And with a solid climate bill, we can create another 2 million jobs...for starters... See right wingnuts...this is how jobs are created...not with hocus pocus BS magic bean 'tax cuts' that your puppet masters claim that they do...still waiting for any con-servative anywhere, anytime to PROVE that a 'tax cut' HAS EVER created a job...money is on the table...waiting for eternity...

Overwhelming U.S. public support for global warming action - http://www.grist.org/article/2009-12-15-overw...
Two new polls issued today confirm that an overwhelming portion of Americans want domestic action and an international agreement to reduce global warming pollution. More than half the respondents want to do a great deal to reduce the threat of global warming, while only one-quarter oppose action.
Both of these polls found support for action to stem global warming via pollution cuts despite the worst economy in nearly 30 years. And the polls occurred during the feeding frenzy over the stolen emails from the British climate research center that led the mainstream media to give disproportionate air time and weight to climate deniers who represent a tiny minority of scientists.
This coverage is reflected in the AP poll finding that two of three respondents believe there is a “disagreement among scientists” about global warming. Even with this uncertainty, Americans still favor action to cut global warming pollution, and it will benefit the economy and create jobs.

Gore proposes climate action timeline - http://www.grist.org/article/2009-12-15-gore-...
Al Gore speaking to delegates at the Copenhagen climate conference is hardly big news in green circles, but the former VP and No. 1 climate crusader did manage to make a bit of news with his remarks Tuesday.
Truly how are stupid are Extinctionists/Deniers/'skeptics'...that are used as moronic pawns in Old/Dirty Energy's PR campaign against science and reality....they must have crude for brains...or some other dark substance that can be used as a fuel....

Senate To Take Up Single Payer Amendment - http://onthehillblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/sen...
Sen. Bernie Sanders says he is "not naive" and expects to lose, but the Senate on Wednesday will debate for the first time in American history a proposal to create a single-payer, Medicare-for-all health care system, according to statements from the Vermont independent's office.

Why corporations should not rule the world: AP Discovers Evidence of Monsanto Trying to Corner Seed Market, Provoking an Unconvincing Reply
- http://blog.buzzflash.com/analysis/956
Now, not only are these chemical companies each rushing to bring an untested product to market faster than their respective competitors, but they are competing to be the first to have a patent on a basic element of human life in the food we consume. So while Monsanto is right that farmers and seed distributors have the choice between GMOs from Monsanto and GMOs from Bayer or Dow or DuPont, allow me to point out the obvious: That is not much of a choice at all.

Connecticut Democrat calls for Joe Lieberman recall - http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/306...
"A House Democrat from Connecticut said Tuesday that Sen. Joe Lieberman should be recalled from office over his opposition to the Senate health care bill. 'No individual should hold health care hostage, including Joe Lieberman, and I'll say it flat out, I think he ought to be recalled,' Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) told POLITICO.
Connecticut has no recall law for state officials, and the Constitution does not authorize states to recall members of Congress since each house has the authority to police its own members. But DeLauro’s comments speak to concerns running through Democratic circles in Connecticut and in Washington after Lieberman exerted his will on Democratic leaders and the White House, saying he would join a GOP filibuster if the bill included either a public insurance option or a provision allowing people aged 55-64 to buy into Medicare."

The Health Care Debate Has Exposed America's Real Agenda - http://hillbillyreport.org/diary/981/the-heal...
When the folks on Wall Street screw up the world economy and put our country at risk of total collapse, Congress can get together and bail them out with our money, in record time and put it all in a 3.5 page Bill. A Revenue Neutral Bill? Not really, that sort of stuff ain't necessary when it comes to Wall Street.
When Congress is asked to give the Executive Branch permission to invade a sovereign country, they do it fast with the House Joint Resolution 114, just 4.5 pages long. Was this House Joint Resolution 114 revenue neutral? Nope! That ain't necessary when it comes to the Military Industrial Complex.

And so...point blank, I'm saying that the blood of 135,000 uninsured Americans is on the hands of con-servatives & their Republican 'reps'...

:p

“This is essentially the collapse of health care reform in the United States Senate. Honestly the best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill, go back to the House, start the reconciliation process, where you only need 51 votes and it would be a much simpler bill.”

I stated this yesterday and several times before and it wasn't because of pessimism. Kill Bill. It's over.

If Obama was serious, he would declare a state of emergency and take over the health insurance companies. This might sound radical but since single payer would mean the overnight destruction of the health insurance industry, why not?

But it's the progressives that need to vote this bill down. Not the GOPers or the Bluedogs. It's well past time to take the gloves off.
I've been pretty tolerant and patient until this healthcare bill shenanigans. Fuck em. Let the real games begin.

Dean urges defeat of emerging health care bill

The piece about how the giant banks have convinced many states to enable them to administer their unemployment payments with proprietary debit/credit cards is just another blatant example of the corpora-fascist privatization of our nation.

And, don't worry about future bank regulations, Big John McPain is stepping forward to offer a 'new and improved' version of Glass-Steagall to help us out. That's funny, since when the vote to repeal the bill happened in '99 (?) McPain didn't take a stand - voting present in order to preserve his 'innocence' for his future presidential run. What a load of hypocrite that sad excuse for a man is!!!!
