When the world understands the Wall Street swindle that hit them with mezzanine CDOs et al and sank their economies, they may invade Wall Street Street looking for their money.
Or better yet, we could have the army invade Wall Street and get our money back, since we have been bestowing it by the truckload upon Wall Street's worst.

Here is an interesting piece from 1/28/08 that came up googling mezzanine CDO.
A number of informed people knew what was going on. Unfortunately they weren't part of a/any government, working for the/our common weal.
Here is a piece in Salon, AIG using bailout money to by CDOs that it wrote Credit Default Swaps on, thus canceling, it is supposed, part of the risk. This is in interesting. The CDO itself is in risk of default but multiple CDS magnify the risk. How much here is not being said.
For a short piece the precision of the language is fairly good but it is still not as good as it should be.
There needs to be a great deal more information on this use of taxpayer money and I don't see it coming.
AIG is after all, essentially nationalized, though it isn't be treated that way, unfortunately.
