And here I thought boosh wanted Obama to stay at the Blair Witch Projects.

Bush and his DOJ wingnut program of rejecting highly qualified but even slightly left tinged applicants in favor of ideologically pure wingnuts has produced a cadre of government lawyers who are basically dumbasses.

Judge Vaughn Walker is pissed and shows it.

The FISA damn may bust yet.

I think I'm a big fan of Judge Walker.

Kinda made me feel a bit better about stuff.

...but since I've been unemployed/unemployable for a while, had to cancel all my subscriptions. I forgot about reading it online.

As an "older American," I've been around long enough to know that there is always some hope that things are not as bad as they seem; that a slim possibility exists that we can reclaim our souls and right the ship of state. Though I must say, on alternate days I'm pretty well convinced that the global economy will collapse and the fascists will put all of us in FEMA camps (especially those of us who rant on C&L, etc.).

On those days, I sometimes go back to visit The Zeitgeist Addendum video on youtube and try to envision a world led by people who think and are humanists, instead of retarded, sociopathic, fascist zombies like those who've been running the world for the last while. I'm gonna' keep the faith....but, I'll also remain vigilant.

when someone says our first 'black' president.

I could not care less what he looks like.

I want a radical in there.

Here is one expression on this theme.

Though, for the time being anyway, I'm back at work.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Some days, are all sunshine and happy optimism...others...not so much...
And Alice...I will have to check out that link later, I got no sound here at work.

I've resumed my job search - but the pickin's are mighty slim now. It's pretty amazing how the number of listings in any given category in online job sites have dropped in the last 3 months. Though, I could still win the Powerball on Saturday - I could have a lot of influence with $120 million in my pocket!

I need to start actually buying lottery tickets...how can I piss all that money away, if I don't play?

It may be just a reaction to the last 8 years, but I still believe I detect the fine hand of Karl Rove in these machinations.

Patrick Fitzgerald IS a GOP appointee, not to forget. One of the US Attys NOT fired for being insufficiently attuned to the agendas of their elected GOPuke bosses.

It is NOT inconceivable, as well, that RodBlag--who seems to me to be a total stranger to nuance or subtlety--might have been 'joking' about the Seat being 'for sale'; that strikes me as just the sort of 'red-neck' joke somebody with Blag's background might find amusing...

I personally think that anyone Bush appointed should be dismissed as soon as Obama can legally do so.
As for Blago...I gotta say...I'm startin to admire the man...I mean, the way he's thumbing his nose at the House and Senate...Ah that is refreshing.
He hasn't been indicted yet, and and he's still governor, he is well within the law to appoint Burris.
That said, if he is convicted of what he's been accused of, all admiration will go out the window.

but incompetence or political affiliation is not cause.

You basically have to work around them. Leave the people in place but hire others to do the work. I am not sure how that would work with a prosecutor.

But surely you can shitcan someone for being incompetent...can't ya?

...if we could do away completely with "political" appointments in places like the Justice Department? Time to change all the rules...methinks. Guess that's a dream, 'cause the folks who benefit most are the ones who make the rules. #;{

Well...it may be a dream for now...but when enough people get pissed...it may yet become reality.

in (my little) theory, is the Attorney General and it is a special case.

The DOJ supposedly, is outside politics. That is what the prosecutor firings is about.

It is in an ideal world that of course, we are never going to live in. But it is a theory.

Even Ashcroft set limits. Gonzo was the one who totally left the ranch to the vultures.

Kit Bond R-MO, the Missouri Senator that likened waterboarding to swimming lessons, is rumored to be retiring.

This has made an atheist pray!

)O(

Do atheists prey?

Like a mantis, brudda/sista...
It's like ALL they do: prey on the delusionary...

not to worry, it is a post literate world.

Waterboarding, it S-O-O-O 16th Century donchano.

FMRI and thought Identification here we come.

Put on your bluetooth helmet with FMRI and type away.

...you might be in a heap 'o trouble if they ever perfect that FMRI thought reading device!! Hah!

They're just frat boys having a kegger.

If they really want to torture people, they should be forced to correct Dubya's grammer.

is Glenn Greenwald par excellence in stating what the current attempted feather bedding of the Bush crime legacy is really about.

"We can't put out this fire until we're absolutely certain there will never, ever be another fire." This is so f%*#ing stupid! Someone makes a statement like that they are an asshole and they don't want progress, they only want justification for murdering innocent people.

They manufacture a Catch-22 situation like this which essentially equates to the bully position where they say to Palestine "Stop hitting yourself! Why are you hitting yourself? Stop hitting yourself!", all the while Israel is the one slapping Palestine with it's own severed arm. And if you accuse Israel or the U.S. government of disproportionate force, they defend it with the childish argument "Well they started it with their rockets". Two wrongs does not...well everyone knows the rest. They did it with Lebanon and Iraq, which turned out to have have been no threat at all.

Good pieces on Judge Walker - let's hope he holds firm. And as MBH shows, sadly, good reporting work often doesn't make it into print.

Wow!
Imagine my surprise when I see my wee little blog high lited on one of my everyday must reads!

Thank you very much!
