The GOP stole as much of the tax payer's money as possible and now they worry about government spanding since the Democrats have come to power. These guys have a lot of BS and think the American Tax payer are a bunch of idiots.
it's been interesting listening to the chatter about franklin roosevelt's "New Deal". this was a time like today a wave of bank failures and rising unemployment. he launched social security act, civil works administration and many others. in the end it did NOT solve many of the problems that existed like unemployment and economic prosperity. many authorities suggest the strategy was wrong the plan didn't expand the economy but constrict it. they raised interst rates to protect the FED. the problem with the New Deal was what it did NOT do. they did NOT expand economic activity quickly and decisively. they wavered. roosevelt tried to balance the budget/raise taxescut government spending. this reduced economic activity. this is NOT what the Obama team has in mind. latter roosevelt launched an infusion of 5 billion spending plan that changed everything. the (R) need to learn from our past. like obama has said and i know some do NOT agree, we need quick bold action NOW.
The reality is, the present service economy instead of manufacturing, is nothing like the Depression Era economy. Economists that compare the two are blowing smoke out their arseholes. These geniuses are what caused this mess, and people now listen to them like they are intellectually superior. There is no manufacturing industry to kick start the economy back to reality. It's been transferred to nations that have no labor protections or environmental laws to save cash. The world of today is nothing like the world in the 30s no matter what anyone says.
At last count, there were 876 Palestinians killed since Israel's assault on Gaza began. More than 4000 wounded. About 50% of the killed and wounded are children.
Today Israeli troops killed 27 Palestinians.
Today Israeli troops shot and killed three Gaza-based journalists.
The UN has suspended its humanitarian aid after Israeli tanks shot two UN drivers (during that daily 3 hour lull).
Israel is also jamming TV and radio broadcasts using UAVs over Gaza. Gazans have been having difficulty getting information from the outside world and getting information from one end of the strip to the other.
