Even when Fox sort of tries to be fair and balanced – well, they just can’t. In a laughable segment on this morning’s Fox & Friends, “legal analyst” Peter Johnson, Jr. offered tips for both candidates at tonight’s debate. As props, he trotted out cardboard cutouts of both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. And guess what? “Romney” was positioned between and close to Johnson and host Steve Doocy, so he got the most and best camera shots, whereas “Obama” was off to the side and leaning away from them. In case viewers missed the message, there were a few more visual cues.

As Johnson said, “Our president is a father figure,” he put his arm behind the Romney cutout in a friendly way. That contrasted with how he pointed at the Obama cutout and said, “They need to love these questions and love these people and not lecture them.”

But in case anyone still hadn’t gotten the hint, as Johnson said, “Americans are looking for comfort," the camera moved right in on Romney's face.

There were no close ups of Obama and much of the time Johnson had his back to him.

Must be seen to get the full effect.
