The Daily Show: Michelle Obama Takes The High Road
Michelle Obama made her first appearance on The Daily Show (see part one of the interview here), and exemplified the Obama strategy of taking the high road, being gracious and focusing on what needs to be done rather than attacking their opponent. Any wonder why Obama's polling numbers are rising and McCain's are dropping?

I'm sorry, but Democrats need to stop turning the other cheek- When the right wing slime machines starts attacking, the Democrats need to hit back,and HARD. They need to be pummled. Kerry turned the other cheek when he was 'swiftboated'- he should have come out swinging- his taking 'the high road' cost him the election, and if Obama doesn't fight back, we may see a repeat of the 04' election.
Wallowing in the mud makes the pig happy and leaves both of you covered in shit.
These people not only have class, but they have the intellect to match. They have not taken the bait and their poll numbers and likability factor climbs, because Americans can, at the very least, differentiate between slimebags like the Republican attack dogs and class acts like the Obama's.

Kerry didn't lose by turning the other cheek. He lost due to KKKarl Rove and the Secretary of State in Ohio stealing the election is several precinct. The GoP hasn't won an election straight up in years. Who votes for them except angry bottom feeders and troglodytes? What do the republicans have to offer? If they tell the truth, they wouldn't vote for themselves!

I wish they could win this by acting like civilized human being, but with McCain hiring the guy who attacked him and his daughter in 2000.... McCain will stop at nothing to win this election.

I agree. Obama has my vote, but he tries to inspire hope. McCain tries to inspire hate and fear, and in doing so will get more votes. Sad but true.I do hope i'm proved wrong, but the last 8 years has left me less than hopefull...

The old lady who works for me is a bigot but pretends otherwise. Today as I was watching Michelle on Larry King Live on You Tube, she asked me, why people make such a big fuss about Obama's wife? And she doesn't recall Hilary had so many interviews when Bill was running for president. Well coming from a woman who is over 60 and never voted in her entire life, I doubt she was paying that close of an attention to the political world when Bill was running for President. Then she went on and said, I just don't know why people think she's such a big deal. I said who? She said, this one, what's her name? I said, THIS ONE? Michelle Obama, your future First Lady?
At that moment, I looked at her and decided that I really don't like her. She went on to telling me how black people used to pick on the white folks in her neighborhood. And went on to justify that her prejudice is based on her experience when she was growing up. At which point, the desire to clarify our world as it stands today and the importance of understanding our rights as American citizens totally left me. I walked away from her. I cannot compete with ignorance, nor do I want to.
I know this is o/t, but If Obama announced a press conference and laid out his plan to get every single homeless veteran off the street and into decent housing and peer counseling/assistance programs by the end of his first term, he'd put McCain in the drink for good.
Obviously, I'm not Obama, because I haven't worked out all the details and consulted the appropriate experts... but I was just watching John Soltz on "Countdown" and realizing that the candidate who takes "ownership" of this neglected vets issue -- which really hasn't been seized since Walter Reed broke 8 million years ago -- would really have something.

She was extremely gracious on TDS. I really enjoy listening to her. She has wit and sophistication, something that Cindy McCain with all her money will never have. She will be a fantastic First Lady.
She stand heads and shoulders above anything the reupublicans can put out. A real true lady.

Those who want to compare this to the '04 election need to realize something: This is a different day and people are tired. Yes Obama talks a lot about hope and change, but who knew that it would take a little bit of inspiration to get people to wake the hell up and see what's going on outside our own door? Our government doesn't care about us because, as long as I've been alive, the American dream has been clouded with how gain power and who do I have to step on/over to get to it. And forget what's going on in the middle class, this president and his party have been terrorizing me and made me live in fear as long as we've been over there.
So I need change. I'll be voting for "that one" come Nov. 4th.
