[[Double take]] Wha-wha-wha????

It sounds silly to bring up less than a week after your election, but some political junkies here in Washington—some very powerful ones—are already saying that you will be on the short list of vice presidential candidates come 2012 for the Republican Party. Do you harbor any national ambitions, sir?

How did Chris Wallace get inside my nightmares? And what the hell is he smoking?

The famous Fox News "some people say" followed by a statement that nobody who really wants to keep the Republican Party vital would actually want? And who is on the "short list" for President? Palin? Wow. Between the two of them, they'd have..what? three years governance experience between them? Brilliant!

The oppo research on this guy is so rich that I almost hope the Republican Party is this stupid. Bring it on, GOP, bring it on.

And then when he loses he can resign from his half-term governorship to prevent the press from lyin' about the troops.

Chris Wallace is on the short list of those who could never measure up to his father.

that Chris Wallace is a fucking idiot. Some substantially less powerful people say that, too. Yours truly is happy and proud to be included in the latter crowd.

That WOULD be his SHORT

FOX reminds me so much of a carnival show. That and an infomercial, for obvious reasons, but i can almost smell the popcorn and candied apples.

Fox is about like the crazy screaming man that masturbates on the streetcorner, or the crazy screeching lady that throws cats at you.
With the accompanying smells of course.

Ya. I guess i was thinking about the "Creep Show" aspect of it all, and the right wing suckers that are born every minute.

If Limbaugh is the carnival Barker then Beck is the clown show, Palin is the "peep show" lady, and O'LIEly is the "creep show" mutant.

whenever a reasonably telegenic candidate wins a Governorship or Senate seat by a healthy margin, the beltway insiders begin speculating on their potential as a Presidential or VP candidate in the future, at least for a few days. Yeah, it may be pointless speculation, but Chris Wallace is probably actually repeating what he's heard. Doesn't make him less of a douche though.

Liberalicious's picture

he's a democrat.

ron's picture

it makes him more of a douche for repeating it.

Republicrooks are grasping at anything they feel might save the GOP and get the "base" excited. They saw the reactions of a lot of people about Palin, and although she got a lot of negative press (rightfully so) she has a large number of people supporting her, so of course they are pushing her as a front runner for 2012 already. Same thing with this guy, but he's being tested at this stage in the game. What they are doing now is basic marketing. It's a study group on the most massive scale. They put these people on shows like the factor and GB and then they watch the RESPONSE from the masses. They watch and listen to how excited or non-excited the "base" gets after they've been presented with another option. Positive responses = more face time for that potential candidate. Negative responses = less face time. They all do it though to be fair, dems and repubs alike. The current political system is based on it which, in reality, is quite disgusting. It's like voting for Pepsi over Coke or Ford over Chevy.

if the money is right. Got it made with this TV gig but you don't have to work every day in Government. But you still get full salary, don't have to be accountable for your mistakes, full retirement benefits, 5 Star Medical plan . . and oh you still get to polish your acting skills, that's the best part.

Samson-'s picture

like the dems, the GOP will have a certain problem--in a time of increasing populism--if a cabal of "very powerful ones" try, again, to play kingmaker/queenmaker. if they can hit the sweet spot (finding a puppet that still appeals to the populist groundswell, ie palin on the right) then there is danger afoot, as was evident in the birthers, and the teabaggers.

i think the "very powerful ones" in both wings of the duopoly are treading in dangerous waters though. from the left to the right they are persona non grata. the race for both parties will be to get in front of the populist movements and try to lead it to partisan political victory...

since our current reality sort of sucks, we'll simply make our own as it suits us.

else, how can you explain the furious spin trying to turn two inconsequential gubernatorial elections into an electoral tour de force. LOL

Sorry , but I am hypnotized by McDonnell's horrible grooming- his collar looks warped and sloppy, his tie looks like he loosened it for Happy Hour. He can't even seem to dress himself, he looks like a shabby salesman. I know it sounds superficial, but in politics appearances matter.

McDonnell pledges to serve full term and not to pursue national office.

Translation: Oh, great. We Virginians are stuck with this creep for the next four years.

I do like the idea of selling the State's Liquor stores to private business and using the money to fix the sorry state the highways are in. The State Government shouldn't be in the booze business.

capnmike's picture

BTW, I didn't vote for him....

Problem is, it's a one time cash infusion and then the state permanently loses a reliable revenue stream.

Who else does the GOP have? There is a party that is totally starved for political talent right now. If Palin, Pawlenty, Huckabee, and Romney are the most credible leaders the party has, then we have nothing to worry about as far as the Presidential race is concerned. Let's shore up our defenses in Congress and try not to bite each others' heads off in the health care and climate debates. A divided Democratic Party would lose huge to the GOP.

candidate for President, much less VEEP. I guess Liz Cheney can help pick the new VEEP. (Or maybe Mary Cheney since she has also started her own political consulting firm.)

Only when the last tree has died

will we realize we cannot eat money.

Since she will be running for President I guess she will be helping pick the VEEP.

Straight??

This from WizardLeft1 this morning:

On FOX News Sunday, today, Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell of Virginia told Mike Wallace that he would like to end all state money to Planned Parenthood and work with the General Asssembly to shut it down for good...

I hope C&L gets that tape because this liar ran away from his social conservatism during the election and downplayed such positions....

This a fine example of how the Right-wing downplay their views until they get into office and then ram things down the people's throats who did not hear that in the campaign. The Republicans are masters of hiding their controversial views from public view until they get into office.

Mike Wallace of FOX NOISE has just replaced YOU as Sarah Palin's running mate on the 2112 Republican ticket.

er... just a second...

Maybe he was he talking about the Conservative Ticket!!
Maybe he doesn't know the difference between the two...
maybe he said The Bull Moose Party!
Maybe his head just blew up.

I think McDonnell has served in elective office 17 years.
