I saw auto tune the news too and it is funny once. But auto tune is everywhere right now and I and some other people are getting sick of it.
As a long time recording engineer I have to say I HATE Autotune. One of the most annoying, overused effects ever.
It gives me a headache.
I always hated it, but now thanks to this thread, I have a name for what I hate. Autotune. It's so obnoxious. The video itself is cute, but autotune...yeah it sucks.

Tis a program that automatically detects and corrects the pitch (note) of a singers voice. Stars have been using it to cheat for years. Now they're in love with the little robot scoop sound that comes at the beginning of the note.
and I never heard of it either. It appears to be some dumb way of dubbing rock music and sound effects on video clips - for whatever purpose, I'm at a loss to explain.
Actually, the boys in that video are real cute and the original version was much better than the auto-tuned one. The older boy was pretty dumb though, to stick his finger back in only to have the baby bite it again. Sort of reminds me of Tiger Woods, or one of the infamous pols who've been recently 'bitten' in the news.

Its a program made by Antares that can pitch correct vocals or instruments. Recently its been used as an effect by using it with extreme settings to give stuff that "robot voice" like Cher in "Believe". Another similar program is called Melodyne, but Autotune was first, so that robot effect is usually refered to as Autotune even though that may not be the program that made it...(Like Kleenex)
of auto-tune is that Cher song "do you believe in love, of love of incomprhensible" Your opinion of that song is probably a good barometer of what you think about auto-tune. I HATE it (both the song and the technology). I was getting a bagle this morning and some song came on in the deli, have no idea what it was but it was all auto-tuned and I wanted to scream. Auto-tune means any no talent can be a singer now. I really despise what its doing to the recording industry, although as I think about it I think I'm putting the cart before the horse there, the recording industry is going that way anyway and auto-tune is just one of the tools that helps.

It's snowing like crazy in Seoul (and Beijing) today. Most in 41 years, but still only about 20 cm. I love it: been out to play already. The are NO CARS, which delights me. Usually the city is a parking lot and they honk at you to move (few sidewalks).

The typical music clips are mostly folks who are unable to play or sing two notes back to back in tune.
The buying public has been so dumbed down and desensitized that this is viewed as acceptable.
Traditional music placed a high value on being able to sing and play in tune, and with inflection.
The Americans have lost that.
If your Doctor were so incompetent you would have her arrested. If you survived.
If your accountant were so incompetent you would probably be arrested yourself.
If your plumber or your auto mechanic were so incompetent, you would get your money back.
But then the typical music clips are now probably already auto tuned.

Pop stars began to be "corrected" long ago, and merely lip-synched when performing "live", or were like Milli Vanilli. It's more about the look than the sound. The Public has been entrained to believe that whatever gets the most play is the best music.

That was just so amazingly awful, I'm speechless.
Am I the only one who has been tuning out the healthcare debate lately? I'm usually one of those advocating don't give up, yes we have to compromise, but the behavior of the Liebrmans of the world has just pushed me over the edge lately. It seems the bill has been so compromised that I think no bill at all would be better, although I've heard that dems I still respect (a short list) such as Howard Dean have now come around to support it. I'm wondering what others think, is it still worth supporting and why or is it better to let it die and start over?
