Sunday Morning Bobblehead Thread
Droopy Dog -- The Chump Champ
I used to love these Saturday cartoons, but I gotta admit, Droopy Dog is forever ruined for me because of that traitor Joe Lieberman. And guess what, boys and girls? The most craven politico of them all, Joe "Screw my constituency, it's all about me" Lieberman will be on Face the Nation this week, disgustingly unrepentant about his complete 180 on health care reform. But perhaps in response, the White House is sending out a bunch of spokespeople to make sure that that needy, attention-whore sell-out isn't the only one setting the dialog, with Valerie Jarrett on This Week, David Axelrod on Face the Nation and David Plouffe on Meet the Press. But the ultimate cartoon, the completely shameless fact-free zone has to be awarded to Fox News Sunday, because their sole guest this week is none other than Rush Limbaugh. Excuse me while I lose my breakfast.
ABC's "This Week" - White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.
CBS' "Face the Nation" - White House senior adviser David Axelrod; Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.
NBC's "Meet the Press" - Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner; David Plouffe, former Obama presidential campaign manager; author Jon Krakauer.
NBC's "The Chris Matthews Show" - Panel: Katty Kay, Howard Fineman, Mark Whitaker, Mary Jordan. Topics: Afghanistan and Health Care and How They Will Determine Obama's Legacy. One Year Later: Why Isn't Obama's White House as Brilliant as His Campaign? Meter Questions: Will Afghanistan define President Obama's legacy more than health care? YES: 6 NO: 6; Is the Far Right more likely than the White House to have its hardball tactics backfire? YES: 7 No: 5.
CNN's "State of the Union" - House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio; Gov. Haley Barbour, R-Miss.
CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" - Matthew Hoh, the first U.S. official known to resign in protest over the Afghan war, gives Fareed one of his first interviews since resigning. Plus, we have a superb discussion on the economy with two great minds -- Martin Wolf of the Financial Times and Robert Schiller, the economist who accurately predicted the financial crisis and the stock market collapse of 2000.
CNN's "Amanpour" - Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Ambassador to Iraq, Afghanistan & UN; Tom Ricks, author of Fiasco, and Tahera Shairzay of Women for Afghan Women.
"Fox News Sunday" - Rush Limbaugh, conservative radio talk show host.
What's catching your eye this morning?

on CSPAN.
CSPAN for the most part does not filter out the left.
I haven't watched CNN since 2005. I don't watch Hoax News and I don't watch Farce, the Nation with Rumsfeld's friend Bob Schieffer.
Sometimes I watch Meek, the Press, only because I watch NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams because he supported the Democrats earlier in the 1970's when he worked in the Carter administration.
I started watching Farce the Nation this morning until they posed a question by Rush Limbaugh to the guest. At that point I turned of the TV. I refuse to watch any "News" show that quotes that lying buffoon.
I am not going to waste one minute of my time on any of the talking asshat sunday shows, and as everyday I won't watch anything on fox!
Remember republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!

Must see excellent talk given by T.R. Reid author of “The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper and Fairer Health Care.”

Thanks for the link.
Hope you caught Naders piece on Common Dreams.
I caught the T.R. Reid speech on NPR last Wednesday. It was so good that I just sat in my car in the rain listening to it and made myself late for a hair appt.
I want to buy his new book.
I wish all Americans could watch this speech.
After the trouble the Indiana teacher got into for assigning a paper on Homosexuality in Animals, I'll bet the same teacher would be disciplined for showing this speech. We certainly wouldn't want America's youth to grow up knowing the TRUTH about how badly the United States treats it's own TAXPAYING CITIZENS...
And, Nicole, here's what's catching my eye this morning: The fact that I don't see any mention of the verbal beating up Hillary Clinton got when she met with a group of Pakistani women regarding the U.S.'s use of drones. They were really letting her have it saying, "How can you execute a human being like that without a trial???" Not even NPR would give us a clip of the altercation.
It would be fun to watch them go after her on the drones. Can you find a clip???

Also had another good book out several years ago called "The United States of Europe" which basically told how the US was losing its leadership role in the world to Europe. You would think this would be a wake up call to Americans, but no, we're too apathetic and comfortable in the fraud we call a status quo to be on the cutting edge of anything anymore.

Okay, fess up. How many here are suffering from Halloween Candy hangovers?
Screw the talk shows I'm not interested. Lieberman got just what he wanted from his hissy fit, he gets to be on teevee. I guess they had to cancel McCain to work Joe in today.
I'm not going to worry about anything today that I can't do anything about. I'm just gonna enjoy the hell out of the day with my husband and Martini.

Wallace: "Do you think she's ready to be president?"
Limbaugh: "Yes. I do." followed by "This is not an endorsement".
His defense of her qualifications? "She is tough and still ebullient after all she's been though."
He acknowledges critics that say she "doesn't have the experience, the skill and is not smart enough", but it doesn't matter because all you really need to be president in Limbaugh's eyes is to remain "upbeat in the face of constant criticism"... like Obama, I'd dare say. Right, Rush?

Actually, he said "8.5" percent, not "8.0". It may sound like nitpicking to some, but Limbaugh, Krauthammer, Hannity and all the rest (and now Gregory) keep repeating the "8.0" figure to falsely inflate the size of the "failure" of the stimulus.

My note to CBS and Bob Shieffer:
Bob Schieffer should never use Rush Limbaugh as a source for his questions on Face the Nation. Face the Nation is the best Sunday Morning question and answer show because Shieffer has the most credibility of all four networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and (holding my nose) Fox News.
