I've never been an HW fan, but...umm...and I know I'll probably catch hell for this...I thought that was quite funny. Just like there are wack jobs on both sides of the political spectrum, there are also wack jobs (and ugly people) on both sides of the gender line. Believe me, I know. I drive a cab.

From the way GHWB tells it, it sounds more like an anecdote than something a speechwriter thought up, anyway. And just think, if Junior tried the same schtick, he would have fallen flat on his face, no doubt.

Clinton's dog quip was also pretty funny, I just hope the good folks at PETA don't get too upset over it. Maybe Bush and Clinton ought to team up for a whole new series of "On the Road to..." movies. They couldn't be any worse than Larry the Cable Guys films.

Let's try not to be so serious all the time, after all comedy is subjective.

My Mum got dementia, a slow and terrible way to die. When she got too much for my Dad to care for we decided it was time to put her in a nursing home.
She thrived there! She was the life of the party, dancing around, singing, visiting other patients and enjoying the company of others. I know she probably didn't even know her own name but she was happy, if hard to "manage".
One day, unbeknownst to us, the family, a doctor came in and gave her a drug.
She became comatose and died within 5 days. In great agony. She literally burned up from inside.

Did you take any action against the doctors?

A good friend turned me on to Bill Hicks some time ago.
Irreverent, controversial and way ahead of his time, Hicks was an unsung legend of stand up during the '80s and early '90s who died way before his time. I've already set up the DVR and plan on watching his infamous Letterman appearance as soon as I get home from work Saturday morning. Stand up would be a completley different animal nowadays without Bill Hicks influence.

Oh, BTW, would you buy insurance from Lewis Black?

Thanks

Corruption favors the wealthy.

Canadian MP, lawyer, and Israeli 'tool for hire' (thats how it comes across).

Being a Canadian citizen he felt the pressing urge to go to Israel and write up a defense for Israel and the IDF.

Does a six part stand up routine as to why its all Hamas's fault why they were on the receiving end of the IDF war machine.

It would be funny and worthy of Monty Python, if it wasn't such a grim subject and the number of deaths involved.

"First, the deliberate targeting of civilians is in and of itself a war crime,"

"A second war crime is when Hamas attacks [from within] civilian areas and civilian structures,

Third, he explained, "the misuse and abuse of humanitarian symbols

The fourth violation, "of which little has been made, is the prohibition in the Fourth Geneva Convention and international jurisprudence against the direct and public incitement to genocide. The Hamas covenant itself is a standing incitement to genocide. [Similarly,] just before this fighting started, I saw Hamas leaders on television referring to Israel and Jews as the sons of apes and pigs."

The fifth crime relates to the scope of the attack on civilians,

The final war crime for which Hamas is responsible is the recruitment of children into armed conflict.

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=12...

Some of the points are valid, but both sides did them, some points are laughable, pathetic and plain immoral and wrong as point four (in full) is.

He would be disbarred from law if he tried to justify point four in a real impartial court of law, he might get this anyway if the Canadian Bar sees this and acts.

Some points are pure propaganda and unproven as to truth or if official policy.

I wonder if there were lawyer apologists after the event for the 'criminal' Warsaw Ghetto uprising.

I know it's petty, and I know that as a democrat in the new Obama era we are supposed to be charting a new course in how we deal with the opposition party, but Rush Limbaugh's comments really sicken me. And I'm especially disgusted when I remember what Republicans put Democrats thru when MoveOn.org placed that ad in the NYT. The Congress basically shut down while every democrat had to be paraded in front of the cameras to denounce MoveOn, and then were forced to pass a resolution in the House to denounce them. Now we have Rush Limbaugh coming out and saying he hopes the President fails, and instead of running away from him, Republicans are lining up to see who can be the first to give Limbaugh a rim job. I think Pelosi should introduce a resolution against Limbaugh and make the Repubs taste their own medicine.

Iraq won't allow Blackwater to work in country
U.S. embassy told to find new security after contractors' 'improper conduct'

updated 2 hours, 50 minutes ago

BAGHDAD - Iraq will not authorize Blackwater Worldwide, the U.S. Embassy's main security company, to operate in the country anymore, a senior Iraqi official said Thursday.

Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul-Karim Khalaf said his ministry's decision was sent last Friday to the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and "they have to find a new security company."

Khalaf added that the decision was prompted by what he called the guards' "improper conduct and excessive use of force" in a shooting that killed 17 Iraqi civilians and injured dozens of others in 2007.

A free society cannot be structured to soothe the hardcore faithful. It is based on a deal. You have an absolute right to voice your beliefs – but the price is that I too have a right to respond as I wish. Neither of us can set aside the rules and demand to be protected from offense.
Yet this idea – at the heart of the Universal Declaration – is being lost. To the right, it thwacks into apologists for religious censorship; to the left, it dissolves in multiculturalism. As the economic news darkens in the United States, the ideas for stimulating new jobs get worse. A sure-fire way to advance deeper into recession is now being spread around: spend even more on the Department of Defense (DoD).
