Sunday Morning Bobblehead Thread
By Nicole Belle Sunday Jan 04, 2009 6:00amRolling Stones - Time Is On My Side - Tempe, AZ concert Dec. 1981
Maybe it's the audacity of the Magical Legacy Recovery Tour™ or the fact that they have two Israeli officials to one Palestinian spokesperson on Late Edition or that C-Span actually invited indicted and disgraced Tom Delay on to give his impression of the new administration and the 111th Congress, but I get the distinct impression that we've all been told the same things we're gonna hear this morning before and that those with the microphones and cameras trained on them have every confidence that time (and repetition) is on their side.
ABC's "This Week" - Senate appointee and former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris, D-Ill.; Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
CBS' "Face the Nation" - Vice President Dick Cheney.
NBC's "Meet the Press" - Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
NBC's "The Chris Matthews Show" - Panel: Joe Klein, Erin Burnett, Norah O'Donnell, David Brooks. Topics: Can Obama keep his many campaign promises? Will 2009 be as good a year for Obama as '08?
CNN's "Late Edition" - Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat; Govs. Jon Corzine, D-N.J., and Mark Sanford, R-S.C.; former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass.; Queen Noor of Jordan; Israeli Cabinet Minister Isaac Herzog; Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyu.
CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" - no topic listed.
"Fox News Sunday" - Former President George H.W. Bush.
Shrub is sending out Daddy this time to try to make nice on Fox News Sunday and the big Dick himself will be appearing on Face The Nation. Also of note is the Blagojevich-nominated Roland Burris to plead his case to the American public of why he should be seated in Obama's vacated Senate seat on This Week.
Oh yeah, time is definitely on their side. The sad part is, I don't think that it's on ours.
What's catching your eye this morning?

Good Morning Everyone!
What's catching my eye this morning is that all our Christmas decorations are packed away and I'm ready for a brand new year that will hopefully be better than last year.
As for the shows this morning, it's hard to think about much of anything else except what is going on in Gaza. Maybe the interview with bush sr. might be a little bit interesting...just a little bit.
Oh, and I saw that c-span tape yesterday with Delay. He's an even bigger ass than he used to be, if that's possible. He's all about party and to hell with country. He's dangerous in so many ways.
There is an endless supply of miserable, gutless, fuckless fucknozzles with which to replenish whatsoever losses they may incur, temporarily. The reason that we celebrate the good so ecstatically is that it so seldom triumphs...
As for Justice Delayed, Scott Horton put up a good piece on it the other day which I C&Pd to The Lamb.
I am just reading about the pro-Gaza civilian rallies in Dallas, and the comments at the Dallas Morning News are pretty slimey. Don't think I will post on them, it is too nasty - but I have passed them on to a few others who do more posts. It's strange that the whole Gaza debacle almost is being ignored on the guest lists for Sunday morning chatter fest.
To my knowledge Obama is STILL silent on Israel's invasion of Gaza.
But here are a few things that have caught my eye this morning:

And last, but not least, there's a shoe store in China that is giving discounts on shoes if the buyer can throw a shoe and hit the image of Bush:

And one more thing: I'm moving from the East end of New York in the next two weeks and I'd like to head south to a better climate. Any suggestions on some cool places to live where I can swim, bike and hike around in a peaceful area with cool people? Thanks. Appreciate any suggestions.
Move next door to me, I can be sorta cool. We have the Atlantic Ocean (swimming) It's about 75 degrees here today with plenty of sunshine. You can bike all over the place and we haven't declared war on any of our surrounding towns (peaceful)
Can you give me the city where you are?
I'm wide open at this point as to where to go.
I actually lived in Sarasota as a child, then in WPB/Lake Worth and Ft. Myers as a younger adult.
Of course then I was beckoned to Venice Beach, Cali.
I was told by a psychic to go to Taos, NM.
Inverness looks interesting!
I should have known when I joined "The Vagabond Players" at the Flat Rock Playhouse in North Carolina back in 1968 that it would end up being a big mistake....
Now it seems I'm just a fucking vagabond!!!
Doh!
Appreciate all the input guys/gals. Thank you.
Arizona is getting less redstate these days as people migrate from high-priced California. We still got a way to go.
AZ outdoors is a paradise for hiking in the Sonoran Desert, which is actually an arid grassland.
The Willo Arts District of Phoenix and Tucson are fairly liberal.
No snow to shovel or lawns to mow in southern AZ!
It's also a better place to live for people with arthritis or a history of traumatic injury because of the stable weather -
before moving here, I used to have to walk with a cane all the time, now not so much.
I loved and lived in Arizona for about 25 years; got dragged away by two different husbands and returned without each of them. From Phoenix, a four-hour drive will get you to the ski resort on the White Mountain Apache rez; from Tucson it's only an hour's drive to see some snow in the winter on Mt. Lemmon, then back down to wearing your shorts again. Don't like the temperature where you are? A short drive, a change of altitude, winter or summer, is all you need. There is a huge amount of public land and so trails, and wilderness areas, are easily accessed. As a horse person, I didn't realize I had it so good for places to ride until the final husband and I returned to Texas. Riding trails here are few and far between. But hay is so much cheaper!
Schools in Arizona, however, suck; we home-schooled the last few years. That's easily done, though.
Best air in the country, great beaches, OK bike trails, Everglades are close by for nature. Plus lots of ex-New Yorkers, at least in Lauderdale/WPB area (less so in Miami).
On the down side, job opportunities SUCK, so best to have some cash put away that you can live on.
...about Florida check out the burg of Inverness, nice place
little place. Tampa is a close enough drive if you want some big city action.
..would have moved to if I would have seen it first.
Inverness was named by some old dead Scot dude, the lake reminded him of the inlet to Loch Ness so the tale goes.
the main road through town. Haven't been back to see how it turned out, but it was as snaky as the back of the Loch Ness monster while I was there...
So is the Cooterfest
anti-PC sometimes--a big part of why I left SoCal...
Glad I have a sink full of dirty dishes to wash and two wrists I can slash instead...

You shoulda included a puke warning!
That is disgusting!
May that little P.O.S. George W. Bush hang from a cliff while his mother tries to remember his father's name.
AND may he never, ever be touched by the noodly appendage of The Flying Spaghetti Monster. Never.
That saying pre-dates "Touched by His Noodly Appendage." A-a-r-r-r!
Thanks, MM!
FnS is reporting that Bush Sr is calling the end of Dubya's Presidency "the last big event of his life".
That got me thinking... to say that, he must recognize the fact that Jeb's political career is over due to the damage his other son has done.
seriously considering a Florida Senate seat:
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/12...
God help us Floridians.
wants more of that Government welfare
Dont fret, a perfectly sane nation or state will never again vote for anyone with last name Bush.... ooops... nevermind..
Either that or he's thinking about suicide. Being the father of bush jr has to be a giant awful burden.
that GHWBush is proud of little Dubya for accomplishing what Prescott couldn't.
Look what its done to Babs. Perforated ulcer. Of course she deserves it for bearing the asshole Bush.
I understood bush sr. to say that having an aircraft carrier named after him is the last big event of his life. He also said that Jeb would make a good senator and or president.
On the subject of the "Employee Free Choice Act", Wallace calls it "Card Check". Hoyer chuckles. Wallace says, "One side calls it..."
Hoyer points out "what side's" euphemism Wallace chose to use. :)
...he deserves criticism for."
(In response to whether attacks upon his son are/were unfair.)
?
Poppy Bush wasn't sterile so he couldn't have spawned the dumbasses that came out of Babs' [Deleted. Over the top. Site Monitor]
"No, Honey! That's not our faucet leaking. Harry Reid is on Meet the Press."
Gregory "attacked" him on his remark in 2007 about "the war has been lost already" and Reid dodged the question. Then "the Corporte Tool" went after "do you have any regrets about calling bush the worst President ever"? To which, I'm happy to say, Reid reiterted why "he is the worst President ever" and gave several reasons why.
Gregory acts like a child with his gotcha questions and that silly shit grin on his face when he asks them.
Gregory's a tool. That's why GE gave him the job.
He's got scheit for journalistic integrity. If he were female, he'd be Andrea Mitchell.
What is WITH the damned media that they've got to keep dragging this malignant cockroach out from under his rock every couple of months and inflicting him on the rest of us?
Can't we let these disease ridden insectoids just ooze through the cracks to live their ignominious little lives in the obscurity they've earned?
... just shows how unimportant corporate media has become ... their interests are to their share holders only ... people need to realize this ... reporting the facts no longer has any baring ... who in there right mind would want to hear what the illegitimate VP and war criminal cheney has to lie about?
The only reason to watch corporate media is to see how much lies and propaganda they are spreading to the politically stupid ...
.
...bloggers are so important today. ;-)
Reid may be a lot of things (pussy, spineless wimp, etc), but he doesn't strike me as racist.
Reid calls for Blago's impeachment--how about bush/cheney while your at it.
And Gregory is a f*cking ASS!
This is why I can't stand the dims ... they scream about impeachment for the Ill. governor ... and he has killed how many? ... yet impeachment is off the table for the illegitimate bush regime? ... oh I get it now ... you only impeach when no lives have been lost ... and they themselves can't be implicated in any crimes ... that's how it works! Justice when those involved can't implicate you ...
Ya think??
....George H.W. Bush and Benjamin Netanyahu have been in contact over the past few weeks and decided that the only way for Benjamin to get elected to the PM position is to pummel the Palestinians?
Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
It would be more apt to surprise me if they didn't.
after shrubby cuts it.
their not trying to take the secret ballot away from the unions and hoyer and the rest of the dems have to start attributing the myths/lies to the proper culprits- the talk radio monopoly and its coordinated uncontested repetition.
wallace, snow, gingrich, oreilly etc can repeat the lies all day long but they don't have the volume and repetition and spread needed to create and establish the lies and myths.
his answer to wallace should have been:
those are talk radio lies
or: limbaugh is wrong, etc.
such as Jordan's, support.

bushco lacking foresight? Say it ain't so...
Waaah...
I don't think it was ever "gone," except in the minds of Creationist freaks. For them, it's never been there.
After viewing the Dems on the shows today, I'm more convinced than ever that Democrats are likely to squander a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring real, positive change to American lives and direction.
Even someone as good as Obama can't carry the deadheads and deadenders we have in the current Congressional leadership. If I were Obama, I'd put "change" in Democratic Congressional leadership near the top of my agenda. Reid must be the first to go and very soon.
Watching Bob Schiefer interview Cheney it looked like Schiefer wat4d to ask Cheney how he could have fucked up the country so badly. It looked like Schiefer wanted to tell Cheney that he should be in jail. I saw disgust on the face of Bob Schiefer.
For that reason Schiefer was wasting his time with Mr. Greed. In a few weeks Cheney will be relaxing and retiring comfortably in a Rocky Mountain retreat preparing to collect the cash dividends earned in the previous eight years. His ilk don't really care about history or the country for that matter. It's all about the present and profit.
What frightened me was when cheney said he would be spending half his time in DC after he's out of office. WTF will he be up to in DC?
Knowing how politics works, he will prob be a paid advisor to the Obama government in some capacity. It's how it works. They only are separate parties when it comes to voters. Other than that, very few of them aren't bestest buddies. It's really quite sad.
It's just that Schieffer is so old the wrinkles are permanent and unmovable. He's a diehard Repug - love's him some Bushies. I only saw the first minute or so, as I cannot stand to look at or listen to the big Dick without gagging and feeling compelled to throw something at my TV. Fortunately, every time I've seen him recently, Dickie has been looking rather wan and sounding kind froggy. Could it be a little congestive heart failure is finally settling in? Sure hope so.
I hate to wish ill on anybody but there would be considerable karmic payback if he didn't get to enjoy his plunders and it all got passed on to his lesbian daughter.
He was a little milder but no less evil.
to bad it didn't happen sooner.....
All hail the new leadership at "Meet the Press," where conventional-wisdom peddler David Gregory has as his guest...
...conventional-wisdom peddler Harry Reid.
Maybe Reid can send someone a sternly written letter before our very eyes.
http://blog.kexp.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/...
...and a great album, too. You have good taste.

OUR POOR LITTLE SOFT-HEADED BOY IS COMING HOME FROM HIS BIG DAY AT THE OFFICE... PLEASE DON'T MAKE HIM READ ABOUT WHAT HE DID... IT WILL MAKE HIM CRY
Make lil dumbya read? He doesn't know how! He missed the short bus on his way to an ivy leage "education".
I haven't really been a big fan of the Rolling Stones since Brian Jones left.
