Pretty tame questioning for Bill after he has lambasted Jimmy/Jeff in the past.

Arnold and the Minutemen

A picture named bilgeman1.jpg

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday praised the self-styled Minutemen, branded as "vigilantes" by President Bush, as doing a "terrific job" in reducing illegal border crossings.

The governor's comments on a Los Angeles radio talk show evoked an orchestrated outcry of "immigrant bashing" from legislative Democrats.

They asked the Republican governor why he thought the president called the estimated 750 citizens who patrolled the Arizona-Mexico border "vigilantes." ...read on

The insanity continues from the Republican party.

From this week's House Homeland Security Committee hearing on airline security:

Chairman Christopher Cox: The gentleman from Georgia:
Rep. Linder: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Umm. We could probably spend, the entire budget of the United States, on the airline industry. And still be missing some pieces.
Now, most of us don't believe that we will ever see an airline hit a building, because the passengers won't allow it. And if an airline is blown up in the air, that is a very bad circumtance for 200 or 300 people. But it is not a catastrophe.

Rep. Linder: I would rather spend these fortunes looking for a catastrophe . . . for nuclear weapons.
(mumbling and inaudible)
Chairman Cox: Is the gentleman's microphone turned on?
Rep. Linder: Yes.
Rep. Linder: We could spend everything we have protecting airplanes, and still not protect everything. Umm. It is my view that no airplane will ever hit a commercial building -- which is the only value they have in taking out large numbers of people. It is my view that passengers won't allow that to happen. But it is entirely possible that an airplane will blow up in the air, with some (inaudible) or warning today, or some other technique. But that is a very bad circumstance for about 200, 300 people. But it is not a catastophe.

BUSH: No. I think people oppose my nominees because of judicial philosophy.

After getting dissed by President Bush last night, Tony Perkins came on Scarborough Country to try and save face:

Joe:...Some people are already saying that the president is distancing himself from you, from James Dobson, and other remarks that were made at that conference, the justice conference, over this past weekend. How do you respond?

Perkins: Well, Joe, I don‘t see it that way. I mean, I think what‘s happened here, it‘s not us, it‘s not the president that has interjected religion into this debate. It‘s a handful of Democrats that have been leading this filibuster And it‘s senators like Charles Schumer who have questioned the ability of certain candidates ...read on

Fun with Bush

Is President Bush Wired?

Emailer: Hey - am I the only one that saw Bush wired AGAIN in last night's debate?

Right after the woman from CNN asks her question, Bush says
about 10 words, stops, looks down like he's listening to something, mumbles
something like "hold on" or "OK", and continues talking. This lasted about
2-3, maybe 4 seconds.

Republican Governor Vetoes Rape Victims Rights Bill

I’m late posting this story, but
Pseudo-Adrianne’s post earlier today reminded me of it.
Earlier this month, Colorado Governor Bill Owens
vetoed a bill that would have required hospitals to tell rape victims about emergency contraception.
The bill would not have required hospitals to perform abortions; the bill would not have required hospitals to dispense drugs they found morally objectionable; the bill would have given health care professionals the right to refuse to participate in procedures they found morally objectionable. The bill would only have required hospitals to let rape victims know that the option exists, so that rape victims would have the freedom to decide for themselves...
