This artist is living proof that soul is still alive and going strong. Coming from humble beginnings, Charles Bradley had been through several jobs and parts of the United States before his music career took off when he was in his early 60s. Bradley ran away from home as a teen, been a cook for more than a decade, and performed as a James Brown impersonator under the moniker, "Black Velvet". However, once the independent funk label, Daptone Records, took notice of his performances in 2002, he finally got his break. With the success of his first album, No Time for Dreaming, Bradley was able to release a follow-up to it this past April, titled Victim of Love. His second work was received with widespread acclaim and has paved the way for more quality releases from a artist who proved that it is never too late to make great music.
