Tonight we have a live performance by Monk and Coltrane at Carnegie Hall, put on as a "Thanksgiving Jazz" benefit concert. After sitting untouched for nearly 50 years in the Library of Congress, it was rediscovered in 2005, when it finally saw its release. The record opens with this piece, "Monk's Mood", a beautiful ballad that showcases the virtuosic abilities of these two jazz greats as well as the sheer emotion that they are able to put into their performances.

What are you listening to tonight?
