2012 Republican hopefuls are literally laughable

Check out these two videos from Tuesday and tell me with a straight face that the Republican Party isn't a joke. The first is Governor Mark Sanford laughing at the notion of Sarah Palin as the "future of the party", and the second is of John McCain yukking it up when asked by a reporter whether he will be in the 2012 mix. Finally, there's something I can agree with the GOP on: As of now, their 2012 prospects are literally laughable.

How can they be any more funny than the group which included Mittens, Huckster, Hollywood Fred and Ghouliani?

I will check the video and find out!

Bobby "exorcise this" Jindal.

I laughed when Dubya ran for governor of Texas in 1994, but he beat Ann Richards. I thought we progressives had it made when the Republicans decided to run the fool for president in 2000, but he managed to get elected and look what has happened to our country. Before we laugh too long and too hard, we ought to consider that if Obama can't turn a disastrous situation around in a relatively short period of time, the Republicans could very well put one of those buffoons in the White House. There are enough ignorant, superstitious people around that we could even end up with a Sarah Palin with her finger on the button.

I'm not laughing this time.

obviously, there's no way john mccain can seriously run again, as he'll be 76 in 2012.

sarah palin will almost certainly run, but has no chance of winning because the only people who want her to win are the newt-ian GOPs who've been getting killed in elections for 2 years now.

so what does that leave? not ron paul, but a ron paul-type...a genuine libertarian with a 'prime directive' foreign policy (which is different from an isolationist one), and actual fiscal conservatism. combine that with a liberal legislative branch, and you have a pretty solid mix of the two.

because there are some issues (like foreign policy) that are better served with a more conservative approach and other issues (like domestic policy) that are better served with a liberal approach.

unfortunately, both sides have one thing in common...theyre not going to get their way if theyre not elected.

is the exact thinking Obama is trying to break out of.

because there are some issues (like foreign policy) that are better served with a more conservative approach and other issues (like domestic policy) that are better served with a liberal approach.

I do not believe this at all. Not at all.

will be long over by 2012. She's a buffoon, and everyone knows it.

Has long been one of my favorite words.

Judge Judy said on Larry King's show that she is a very intelligent woman who was just thrust too quickly into the position that she was and the press treated her very badly. So there. :p

Yeah, but what did Judge Wapner say? (Is he still alive?)

write a book called "Beauty Fades but Stupid is Forever"? That's Sarah, the Thrilla from Wasilla all over!

...Ron White's sage words:

"You Can't Fix Stupid!!"

Judge Judy is not a particularly good judge of character. Everyone is guilty in her eyes. If she legally kill someone in her court, she'd probably would.

So her saying Sarah is an intelligent woman is like Bob Schiffer saying "George W. Bush is a well read man"...both are BS.

Schiffer actually said that once. He's never apologised for it.

sara's been in the position at least 5 times.
now she has one of the resultsof her position, preggers too.
Like Cher's song from a while ago "And the beat goes on - And the beat goes on"

and still be a buffoon. For starters, she apparently is missing the essential 'self-edit' chip...

I'm surprised Judge Big Smarty and Super Know-It-All Judy would realise that. Heh heh

:)

What this Governor will not or CANNOT say is that the Republican party has been hijacked by a cabal of religious extremists/corporatists/fascists/contemptuous non-elected individuals who have bullied, fear-mongered and deceived their own party members and the US citizenry for the last 8 years specifically and the last 4 decades more generally. The GOP presently is a psychotic, criminal and war-mongering front-piece for an anti-democratic, anti-judicial and anti-human mindset that has been allowed to run amok globally and to shred the constitution with the implicit support of the failed elites (congress, Supreme Court and, of course, the wealthy families). Even the consideration of that addled-headed, ignorant bimbo from Alaska for the presidency would alert any citizen that the gig is up and that the contempt for them is palpable and the public, political face of the GOP.

Amen to that. Well said.

This is a farce.
The GOP should literally be banished to the hinterland for decades because of their actions over the past 8 years.Sorry, but the utter criminality of this crew should exempt them from even musing over what direction they'll take in the future. The conversation should with out doubt be centered around who is going directly to prison and who is not.

I would have thought DUHbya was laughable in '96 or even in early 2000. Then America elected the retard not once but twice.

Never, ever underestimate the apathy-induced stupidity of the average American voter.

the SCOTUS elected him in 2000. Diebold did it in 2004.

it means Americans accepted it both times. To me, that's worse than electing him.

With that, I am wholeheartedly with you.

True. The American people didn't exactly rise up in anger in 2000 or 2004. They just went along with it, and now look at us.

So don't be surprised when they try to do it again in 2012 with Bible Spice.

lol

Bible spice. Thats a good one! I wonder if Posh, scary, baby and the spice girl know that they have an addition to their band. lol

Sounds better than frankensense spice.

)O(

Frankensteinspice.

)O(

Nutmeg?

Bring them by...we'll put a little on top of the eggnog.

she won't be an issue.

Yes, both republicans and democrats have proven themselves total jokes in the last eight years. But even Bush/Cheney joke probably got away with election theft, treasury theft, war crimes and treason to name a few. I'm not laughing untill the other half of the electorate starts making sense or Obama makes some actual change happen.

That the Obama team must not CANNOT let these miserable lying criminals off the hook. This is too important to walk away from.
If they DO let them off,I personally will wash my hands of any further support or interest in the Democratic Party.

of any further support or interest in the Democratic Party or the
Repugnant party.
I said the same thing last night.

I was talking to some friends a few days ago after the Bears game and the subject of what went wrong with repubs that we remember from our youth came up and this was an idea that I cant disagree with. Religon in the repub party is what killed it and you can even come down to the day that it killed the repubs, the day that the repubs came out for "saving" Terri Schiavo. Remember Bill "KATKILLA" Frist was making a diganosis by video tape, and Bush was getting his repub controlled Congress to pass laws in favor of the religous, this was when so many that are not into polotics looked and said "What the hell is this?", "Why are they going after something that should be in the faimly?" and at that point is where you can see the stake going into the heart of the repubs. After Schiavo people saw the religous right going after Darwin, DARWIN, and all science that didnt support the religous view of the universe. It was this discourse that turned many away from the repubs and their brand of ethics. It was then that so many started to dig into the past of the religous right and saw them for what they are, greedy, power hungry, hypocrites and from there it goes downhill. The war and the economy have helped, but it was the overreach of the religous into our bedrooms, schools, and hospital beds that turned off many that were apolotical. The only chance that the repubs will have at the white house, outside of a supersized fuck-up by the Obama admin, is to have a canidate that tells the religous leaders to stay out of polotics, otherwise it is going to be a long winter for the repubs ( do you think that bible burning is OK to stay warm?). I just do not see that person on the horizon for the repubs anytime soon.

If they ever had a candidate who told religious leaders to stay out of politics, no matter what their affiliation, I might have to vote for them.

I'd be happy with taxing those who insist on becoming part of the policy makers. If they want to participate in politics, fine. Pay taxes like the rest of us.

I would add however to the op, paragraphs are your friend. Mine too. Much easier reading.

I can't think of any GOP candidate that can actually unite the Conservatives the way that we saw in 2000. Each faction remains so narrow mindedly focused on their own particular agenda that they can not see anything else. It would take someone who encompasses social Conservative values, fiscal responsibility, and foreign policy experience to pull it off and I just don't see anyone candidate right now that possesses all three of those qualities.

My dream ticket:

Palin/Limbaugh 2012!

Real America First the rest can die in our camps

Shoot first, oxy second

Bullshit Moose Party

Douche and the anal cyst togather for strength

Facism, a european import we can live with

A.K.A. Hoochie and the Blowhard.

Hoochie blows hard?

Just ask Taaaahd.

is a nightmare. :(

if the economy has not turned around by 2011, some of them will start looking Presidential.

If Granpa's excuse for a Presidential Campaign won't hurt his chances for re-election to the Senate?

...we needn't fear Joe the Plumber??? Mmmmmkay.

As of now, their 2012 prospects are literally laughable.

So were ours in 2004.

Let's not get too cocky.

I have never heard anyone say that. There was even serious talk that McCain would not run again in 2012 even if he was elected President in 2008. I think your premise is wrong.

...or so the GOP hopes

i found GOP candidates laughable for more election cycles than i care to count. yet, never underestimate the ability of a 'culture war' wedge issue to make people turn off their minds and vote with their fear.

Sarah Palin and all those youtube clips of her supporters were a godsend to the Democrats this past election. Please, if there is a God, open that door for her to run again in 2012 and let her plow right through it!

Palin/Plumber 2012

Gingrinch/Plumber 2012

the vast, stinky array of clusterfucks left behind by the Busheviks.

I do not believe ANY human can repair that amount of damage, certainly not in one term, even if they were so inclined.

I am not convinced that the Pukes didn't just tank this election to leave the mess in the hands of the Dims, who every effort to repair or undo the messes could be thwarted legislatively, in Congress, thereby making the Dims look ineffectual, and setting the tage for whomsoever in the GOP bobs to the top of the septic tank...

Please, if there is a God, open that door for her to run again in 2012 and let her plow right through it!

By 2o12, if everything goes according to (GO)Plan, the nation will be so discouraged and disappointed in Pres. Obama that ANY "change" will look appealing, but especially one that harks back to 'simpler times, family values (and white people in charge).

New republican slogan:

When you're tired of the very best, try the rest.

I love all these bizarre statements saying the republican brand will NEVER recover. Do you really think we're going to look at a democratic controlled congress, senate and whitehouse for generations to come? So naive...
Undecided voters work in cycles. They'll never be happy with their government so when they are finished being pissed of with the republican party and vote democrat, they'll begin being pissed off with the democrats.
Republicans know they lost the election based on age, race and wacko redneck chick from Alaska factors. In addition, money also played a factor for this race so don't be surprised if the repugs break the record for campaign fund raising next election. From a marketing point of view, their ticket was a disaster the moment gollum won the primaries.

The next time around, you're going to have an anti-McCain. It's going to be a polished, well spoken, thoughtful handsome man in his 40s, maybe early 50s.(I already despise him). He's going to be able to speak Spanish (Oh yeah) and he'll try to reach out to the spanish community. I believe he's being developed now in some secret lab in Utah... (no too mormonish and red, need borderline blue state...), Pennsylvania!

The point is, the strategists aren't idiots. They hung McCain out to dry for whatever reasons but they're going to come back with a solid candidate with tons of money backing him.

House leadership is also in disarray having reelected the leadership that took them to disaster in the 2008 elections. Good on you CONS!

http://theprogressivepost.blogspot.com/2008/1...

Give us more of the same, Boner. You lost, what, 50 seats?

More John "cry me a river" Boehner!

Bill Frist silently awaits in the shadows hoping the short attention span public how much he sucked or his wronging doings with stocks or HCA.

I see little reason to laugh, given the desperate situation these corrupt Republicans and fake Democrats have put this country in. BushCo's final spastic fits of looting will put Barack Obama and this country in a fix that will be almost insurmountable. And if, four years hence this country remains a smoking ruin, who then will come forth to promise another round of Republican snake oil?

Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney.

a) The mere thought of being associated with religious freaks again.
b) Even he knows he won't live long enough to see the next election.
c) It's an involuntary reaction brought on by the Propecia.

but remember, Dubya "won" Florida in 2000. And with the moron Palin making the rounds, I'm uneasy. Remember, our fellow sheep, er citizens chose idiocracy over democracy for 8 years.

January 20th cannot come soon enough. It's going to be a beautiful day. :) President Barack Obama. Always makes me smile to see and hear the words. :)

not to take anything for granted. Laughable? Like GWB WASN'T laughable? Resting on our laurels got us where we are today.

General Paetreas will run - don't laugh he has a chance
