Colbert (reluctantly) endorses Barack Obama...kinda

Following the lead of all the other prominent conservatives who have come out in support of Obama, Stephen Colbert finally makes the jump and announces his endorsement, although he refuses to announce his actual support.

"Nation, I have no choice but to respond to my fellow prominent conservatives who have the gall to endorse Barack Obama. Which brings me to tonight's Word: I Endorse Barack Obama. I know this is shocking and I can tell that you're angry..."

Colbert endorsed Obama and his audience went wild
with applause and "rejoicings".

I don't believe it was a sorta, kinda, half -hearted
endorsement. Rather, it was reluctant because the Colbert
character would be averse to doing such a thing.
Remember he's styling himself after Limbaugh and
Hannity and O' Reilly. Hence the reluctance to
endorse Obama

And I almost split apart laughing so hard.

Go on, McCain...be a maverick, endorse Obama.

Classic.

The Wrath of Khan WcCain

Obama got the Colbert bump. Now he cant loose

Ferrofluid's picture

Watch WcCain wince and squirm as Palin speaks.
As they are saying over at Wonkette, he knew he had lost at that point.
So who the hell did pick Palin for WcCain, we need to start a fund raiser and buy them some bling as a thankyou.

"from each according to his abilities to each according to his needs"
what a horrific thought! The are stifling my ability... oh wait ... but they are keeping me from what I need ... oh wait again ... Karl Marx - he's bad right? I was born after August 29, 1936 and that generation's overblown fiduciary bogey man ain't that scary.

LOL

I am surprised McCain doesn't bring up his personal acquaintance with Hoover and how he is different.

jakes's picture

Well Hoover said "The fundamental business of the country, that is the production and distribution of commodities, is on a sound and prosperous basis." While McCain said "The fundamentals of our economy are strong."

There's a difference! You must feel foolish now.

MsJoanne's picture

My bad. ;-)

jakes's picture

I didn't see the connection at first either, with McCain's neanderthal like diction such as
"me fight - you fight!"
Translation: let's all fight!

"Me not so smart on money."
Translation: I'm the wrong guy at the wrong time.

"me like you Reagan, you nice you strong".
Translation: I'm scared and you are so dreamy.

"me get my mate in Alaska - me give her 150,000 shinys ".
Translation: I was forced to try to put lipstick on a pig (he said it - I didn't).

"me straight talk you".
Translation: What do you want to hear?

"me sing song beach boys".
Translation: I am an idiot.

"me friends..."
Translation: i.e. "my friends..." [cannot be translated - cliched phrase now devoid of meaning]

"me would be happy to talk about it".
Translation: Bring that back up and I'll take it out on you like I did Obama when he refused my town hall (a.k.a. feces throwing publicity stunt arenas) debates!

"me never no look at poles"
Translation: "I'm a liar" unless he realizes the double negative then it is "I am a really stupid liar."

"me is tired nap time".

Stephen finally gets the joke that is the McCain campaign.

Everyone is equally entitled to the pursuit of happiness. Wasn't that once self evident?

How EVERYONE knows McShame is toast except for the MSM? Hmmmmm. I mean ,might as well start reruns of Happy Days and get better ratings.

MsJoanne's picture

Ratings, baby.

I so hope that my hotel room next week has Comedy Central. I would really prefer to watch Colbert and Stewart on election night than the usual talking heads.

That said, if things go as predicted, I am going to joyfully be popping over to Fox and MSNBC (Buchanan) to watch some exploding heads.

Oh what fun, it is to go, on a 'sploding spree tonight. Hey!

UncleDave's picture

Ummm. Everyone thinks the heads will explode. I think they'll follow the masters and cry FIX and VOTER FRAUD all over them selves. You think they'd accept defeat? Not. On. Your. Life.

MsJoanne's picture

right here. read it and be very, very frightened.

UncleDave's picture

forgot the gays. heh

Maybe he's sniffin' 'round for a piece of Obama's bi-partisan administration action. Don't give it to him Barack - we need our nightly WØRD - unless of course it's between him and Colin Powell...

UncleDave's picture

between Colbert and Powell? That's a sniff I'd have to hold ny nose at.
