Just think of all the rope we'll need come sentencing time (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Yoo, Pelosi...)
Bush previewed his defense. "There will be no outrages against human dignity....that's kinda vague, innit?"
Nope, loud and clear to me GWB. You got yourself a one way ticket to the Hague.
...Nazis "I was just following orders" defense.

Hopefully as the days go by there will be a lot of people willing to talk and try to rid themselves of their guilt or involvement in these god awful atrocities.
I received the DVD of Taxi to the Dark Side, for my birthday from my 17 year old son. I'm sure that Rush and Hannity et al would consider me a failure as a father, given that I've raised him with such misguided morals and liberal views.
In any event, if you haven't seen it...see it, but be warned. It is quite graphic, and there are video and pictures which were never released to the general public.
If you weren't disturbed by the realization of America as a torture nation, you will be. The atrocities were even worse than we were told.
I'm sure it will drive some to tears. For me, I was hurt by what we had become as a nation...and utterly angry at just what the former President, his minions and his enablers had done to this great nation.
There is no forgiveness...nor will there ever be. Should the remainder of George Bush's life be wrought with pain, sorrow and suffering...it is well deserved.
Isn't religion lovely? Christianic terrorism is the worse brand of terrorism in the world, and removing Bush from the White House won't do anything to stop Christianity and tghe death cult's crimes against humanity.
but you really need to hone your thread robbing skills a bit before you can successfully pull that shit off here.
The Wise Men from the East (probably Iran) visited Herod and told him they'd come to pay homage to He who was born King of the Jews.
Herod promptly ordered the firstborn of every Jewish household to be put to death. A draconian measure, but no doubt, Herod believed he was doing the right thing.
This is what we get when we start taking legalistic and moral shortcuts. Lots of dead people and no security.
Did I ever, EVER think that AMERICA would descend to the level of fascist, communist and/or Kafkaesque government-sanctioned torture and murder. All those who authorized these assaults on the dignity of mankind and against treaties this country has signed into law MUST be brought to justice, including Bush and Cheney.

It has been evident to most of us on the sentient left for the past 40 years...
American foreign policy has been rather unpleasant for its recipients.

to play before Jan 20, so as not to be accused of lese majeste with an intellectual property???
Bush has said so many times that terrorist are willing to kill inocent women and children in order to advance their own ideology.
Each time he would say that I wondered, does he realize he fits into that sentence? As he continued to spread "freedon and democracy" his own ideology, and innocent men, women and children were killed.
My dictionary defines "ideology" as "the doctrines, etc, on which a particular political or social system is based"
Bush and his accomplices all told themselves bedtime stories about moral clarity and 'doing what was right.' Since he's one of the good guys, he couldn't possibly be guilty. (It's also one of the problems with evangelical Christianity ... apparently, God will forgive THEM, but, y'know, gays and liberals and all those other types are gonna burn in hell.)
It's the same mentality behind, "I don't have a drinking problem. I'm not an alcoholic," when we know Bush is more soused than an olive soaking in a 100 year-old martini.
I'm glad to see this. Let the special prosecutor's investigation or the blue-ribbon investigative panel commence.
and the new team in a press conference. Biden spoke that the administration seeks to re assert United States diplomacy. I'm grateful to hear this and it seems to be a change of some of the rhetoric that was going on during the campaign.
That rhetoric was understandable even if the democratic candidates did not hold the same beliefs personally. There is a large segment of this country that still feels really threatened by diplomacy or anything less than war, and they may not have gotten into power had they not echoed their concerns.
Excellent Documentary. We need to deal with this stuff.
the new administration is basically admitting the previous was wrong on basically everything it did (Which I agree), and everyone on here agrees that it was all wrong, where is the restitution? When you are wronged, something has to make it right. Americans are calling on Obama to investigate Bushie and his band of thieves. Correct. But if the new administration basically says all these things are wrong, how do you people think the rest of the world feels? I mean, Iraqis must feel they deserve restitution, as would Afghanis. So, if Obama does finally go after the Bush Regime for these atrocities, how can Americans show their regret to these nations? Bring home the troops? Then what, let them devolve to chaos that wouldn't have happened without the Bush gangs wars?
Bring home the troops, stand back and let the Iraqis continue to kill each other. Alternatively, keep the troops in place, draft hundreds of thousands of additional troops, disarm the warlords by force and spend trillions rebuilding the country from the ground up.
Both will cost thousands and thousands of Iraqi lives. As the US does not have the will for the second option, only the first option is possible.
As for paying reparations/restitution, don't hold your breath. There is very little political support for that and Obama has far too much to do to undermine the strength of his political position at the outset. Plus, of course, who would restitution be paid to? The Iraqi government, so the money can be used to buy arms?
Bob, you are guaranteeing another 9/11. Maybe even on a bigger scale. Will America love Obama if something like that happens?
Not to worry! The US can pull out and the Canadians can move right in.
Our Bush clone already has our troops in Afghanistan chasing camels and ghosts and new terrorists that never existed before the invasion.
... getting hit by an uninsured driver. Someone's got to make good on the damage, but in the end, it's simply going to raise your premium, because your insurance company had to pay out, even though it was the other driver's fault.
This is where no matter what Obama does, we're still roundly f--ked.
Good luck, Hillary. You're going to be doing a lot of apologizing.
This doc needs to circulate far and wide.
Let the commissions begin!
Obama Should Worry About the Bush Family Tentacles Undermining His Plans
http://www.alternet.org/story/121243/This is written by Russ Baker who just finished a book detailing the History of the Bush Family. He was recently interviewed on Thom Hartmann's show. Seems like a quality dude, with a lot of credentials, and a great book.
Jeb Bush said that we needed a 'shadow government' to assure/protect conservative principles during Obama's term(s), I wouldn't put it past them.
The rules clearly don't apply to rich white bastards.
God's speed and protection, President Obama.
...and even applauded. It is not enough. Thorough investigation, indictment and conviction. Full accountability for the crimes of the Bush Administration. It would do wonders to restore the faith of The People in our Government and make leaps and bounds toward restoring faith, credibility and respect to the reputation of The United States of America in the world community.
I have dream. Dick Cheney and George Bush in orange jumpsuits and shackles.
