Which, of course, is an inherent conflict of interest. Obviously, Israel is motivated to protect the country from the bad publicity that would result from convictions:

(CBS/AP) Special legal teams will defend Israeli soldiers against potential war crimes charges stemming from civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip, the prime minister said Sunday, promising the country would fully back those who fought in the three-week offensive.

The move reflected growing concerns by Israel that officers could be subject to international prosecution, despite the army's claims that Hamas militants caused the civilian casualties by staging attacks from residential areas.

"The state of Israel will fully back those who acted on its behalf," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said. "The soldiers and commanders who were sent on missions in Gaza must know that they are safe from various tribunals."

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet meeting, Olmert said Israel's justice minister would lead a team of senior officials to coordinate the legal defense of anyone involved in the offensive.

Jonathan Cooke, a British journalist now residing in Nazareth, wrote the following article yesterday:

...Belgian authorities might arrest Tzipi Livni, Israel’s foreign minister, if she attended a summit of European counterparts in Brussels on Wednesday...

300 human rights groups have submitted a 37 page dossier to present to the court. The dossier details the war crimes committed as well as the individuals involved, from commanders to government officials...more.

-----------------------
Meanwhile, anonymous individual(s) shave setup a website with wanted posters:

http://www.wanted.org.il/ehud_barak_en.htm

Full list at the bottom of site

out of curiosity, how many of those posters feature Hamas leaders?

Don't want to hear that!
LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa............LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa

its lawful under international law to defend against aggression and occupation.

No doubt the Belgian authorities were thoroughly disgusted when they heard Tipsy say, "Enough is enough" regarding the piddly, little rockets that Hamas was firing at Israel.

I miss the days when Israel could go on killing sprees, and use any weapon at it's disposal (legal or not), without any of those pinko commies complaining.

Exploded within 100 yards of you?

When was the last time someone fired a teensy, weensy bullet at your car?

used a precision guided, US built, bomb on your apartment complex?!?

I'll take RPG fire from beyond the barbed wire fence over tactical air strikes any day...

You can't deny that Israeli civilians have been fired on by Hamas, though. It happened. That part has to stop, too.

But if it was a Labour government controlling the Knesset, I think there would have been security raids, with far less collateral death. And you wouldn't see Hamas making political in-roads in the West Bank.

Take a look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0y5lLC1MDs

So in nov 4th Israel started the Killing of 1400 people just because 6 "Terrorists" were digging a tunnel?

.. interesting find.

Paid trolls like Tubesox (Former UncleMcCarthy) can't hide the truth!

Today on NBC

Former US President Jimmy Carter has gone where no US leader was willing to go and now says that Hamas is prepared to accept the right of Israel to live next door in peace.

http://video.aol.com/partner/hulu/nbc-today-s...

"Hamas Honored the Cease Fire"

but he is naieve

"hamas has done some bad things"

no, when my nephew steals a cookie then lies about it...thats a bad thing

when hamas sends out kids to blow themselves up amongst civilians, both jew and arab and shoots rockets into civilian areas...that is terrorism

its not a case of semantics

ive been banned for the past 2 weeks...but ive been reading the posts...very entertaining

almost as good as watching the bbc's life on mars

damn good show

the cease fire...as was the ceasing of smuggling in arms through already created tunnels

i am sure that you find it silly, but it was a similar tunnel that allowed hamas to capture gilad shalit, and allowed hizbollah to capture the idf soldiers that led to the lebananon war

i am confused by one thing...if hamas did not fire the rockets during the cease fire...who did?

that piece doesnt provide an answer

... no rockets during the cease fire, why would we assume they did until proved otherwise?

Moreover, why did Israel choose November 4 to break the cease fire? I'm thinking it may have had something to do with a US election and an attempt to avoid media scrutiny.

Islamic Jihad and PFLP (which is secular) fired some rockets, not sure if Fatah's armed wing fired any.

You seem exceptionally well informed on this topic. Any links would be appreciated - not just on IJ or PFLP, but on the Middle East in general. I like Juan Cole at Informed Comment, but I have to admit that much goes over my head. I don't speak or read Arabic or Hebrew so I'm at the mercy of translators. Professor Cole is great, but more is still better.

I don't speak Arabic or Hebrew either. I bug friends for translations if its a new source and I need to know it's bias, or just use this for quick and dirty looks. In the case of the middle east, I just happened to have had many friends over time from that part of the world. Giving me people to annoy with questions and bug for translations. Pity them, I'm too curious.

I like Juan Cole too, and keep up with Noam Chomsky. Starting with US web sources, I also read Raw Story, and Alternet often. Quality of the articles on Alternet varies. Sometimes they're great though. I do check Al Jazeera's english frontpage daily, also they set up a twitter feed during the Gaza War. This is also an interesting Youtube channel. It does more than the Middle East, but the pieces they have on it are interesting. Any articles in the major Israeli or British papers are also fairly good reading on the Middle East. My husband subscribes to The Economist, so I read it in print. A friend also just pointed me to Dawn, a Pakistani english service.

In the case of rockets (this is where I found reporting on who claimed all rocket attacks), and a different perspective. Xinhua, yes it has english service. Their Israeli-Palestinian special report page is a good starting place. For specific rocket attack articles google Xinhua PFLP rockets, and you'll see the old articles. I say google since Xinhua's site archive search is non-existent.

Wiki on PFLP is a fair start point. Same for Islamic Jihad.

For documents about the Middle East .. here. Everything from Balfour Declaration, to Hamas Charter (1988).

If you want one book to start with, in English, for the Israeli peace process, I'd go with "Scars of War, Wounds of Peace - The Israeli-Arab Tragedy" by Shlomo Ben-Ami. For greater Middle-East I'm currently plowing through Ahmed Rashid's "Descent into Chaos", his book on the Taliban called "Taliban" is also highly recommended.

-

In fact, I'm guessing that fireworks have accounted for far more deaths than Qassam rockets.

and who will defend israel itself from war crime charges?

oh, right, america....

i am disgusted by israeli war crimes.

are you not disgusted by?

i was wondering if someone would ask that--as i open myself to the question.

restated as a syllogism:
1-war crimes disgust me
2-israel has been engaged in war crimes
3-israel disgusts me

War by definition is a crime!!!

It takes words like honor and courage and 13 weeks of boot camp to get young men to blow each other to pieces.

Sixty years ago Germans were on trial for butchering Jews.

Now Jews SHOULD be on trial for using F15s on schools and homes.

Who are we to judge? Most Americans were burping and flipping channels in 2003 when we ran over Iraq!

What about the war waged against the germans to stop the butchering?

stopping the butchering (of inmates of concentration/labor camps) never came into it, or was on anybodies to do lists.
They only became a problem and something to be solved as they were overrun and the prisoners liberated.

There were tacticians, planners and moralists who wanted to bomb the gas chambers in 43 or so, but all resources were prioritized for use against the axis war machine.

poles, gypsies, russians, gays, mentally ill and the mentally retarded

i think people miss that the nazis killed 11 million in the camps

that is why holocaust denial is so absurd...it only looks at the jews...not the other minorities that the germans murdered

While I can only speak as an American, we were taught in schools and through our media that the camps killed six million - all Jews.

Why five million people (including almost the entire population of The Rom) were left out is puzzling, to say the least.

and that jews were not the only ones sent to the camps

now i went to both private and public schools...but at both, i was taught about all the persecuted minorities of the nazi regime

it was pointed out that the greatest amount of those killed were the jews...that is true

buy that. Personally I would restrict my disgust to the Israeli government for the same reason I've never held America and Americans all liable for Bush.

which begs the larger question: just what responsibility do citizens of a representative democracy have for their govt's actions...

no doubt there are very vocal and active israelis that are furious at the actions of their govt--like there are americans that are/were furious at US policies--and there are israeli citizens actively working to ratchet up the conflict--same as with some american citizens.

Polls conducted in the Israeli press show that 94% of the Israeli public backed its government's actions in Gaza.

mass murder spree in Iraq? We have zero moral authority judging this blood bath.

Oh I hope Israeli Leaders get charged. It would be nice for once.

I didn't see the program last night but my husband said 60 Minutes did an outstanding job showing what is going on in Israel and Gaza.

Just by saying what he said, Olmert sounds as though he believes Israel did something wrong or else, why get ready to defend it. Something about this brings the bush administration to mind. Can't exactly put my finger on it though. Okay, I'm kidding with that last statement.

)O(

That's not necessarily and admission of anything but the intention of playing the victim card.

What are they going to do, erase all the video tape and kill all the eye witnesses?

Speaking of Israel:

http://www.pdfdownload.org/pdf2html/pdf2html....

basically, since they tightly controlled who got to see first hand what was going on there's a shortage of video tape. And as for killing all the eye witnesses - that seems to be a work in progress.

... linked to in that article have been removed. FYI.

Happily censoring and attempting to rewrite (Youtube/Google) history.

it clearly states that the vids were removed according to copywrite by channel 4

you should really retract the statement

IMHO, fair use, and the public's right to know, should override any copyright issue.

Google is gradually morphing into just another corporate behemoth controlling what we see.

almost think this was some form of official government publication as it is rather inartfully designed to suggest. Of course anyone can submit a memorandum to any committee. That doesn't make a word of it true. You're next post on the nutty 911 conspiracy is even more of a dead giveaway. Frankly people like you make me want to puke. Back to Stormfront weasel.

You're so transparent.

As

are you.

peter, your "stormfront" line is starting to get old.

Here's something I'd like to see American journalists do. Will that ever happen? Probably not.

Loom

Excellent link as it is a powerful example of obfuscation by a government which refuses to admit that it has committed war crimes against the Palestinian people.

Made in USA a "Democratic Country" (Payed by TAX Payers)

Used by Israel a "Democratic Country"

OOOOPS

Tip toes into this area of journalism now and then....

And the Israeli Government leaders skipped 20th century history classes regarding War criminals.

Thanks for covering this topic.

The soldiers were only following orders, I'm going to throw up.

)O(

They'll probably be a video of that soon enough on YouTube.

And a warm, moist cloth to clean yourself up with after you're done vomiting.

How about a nice mouthwash after that and a Zofran tab on your tongue to prevent further nausea???

When South Africa practiced Apartheid against people of color, the world was outraged and punished them with economic sanctions.

When Israel practices Apartheid against the Palestinian people in the Gaze, the U.S. Congress cheers.

No wonder the world hates us.

there are arab israelis who have full rights

have representation in the government, a supreme court justice, etc

how in the world is this anything like apartheid?

i think you and many others (including jimmy carter) do not really know what the word means

i think prez carter knows what apartheid means.

and he says again and again that his charge of apartheid is not refering to israel, but to the treatment palestinians in the west bank and gaza.

give it any name you want, but it is not apartheid

jimmy and others wish to use that name as it gives legitamacy to the concept that the state of israel has no right to exist

sorry, but you have ZERO credibility with me. provide evidence, documentation, data, stats, etc. to back up your charges, because i don't take your word for anything.

take one itsy bitsy example: are palestinians allowed to use the same highway system as the israelis in the west bank? or are there 2 separate-but-unequal road systems?

palestinians living in the west bank...probably not, due to security concerns

arab israelis...absolutely have the same roads

again...no matter what loom says...arab israelis do have the same rights as all israelis

but shoot dude, why dont you use the same wording as norm and noam

jewish roads and arab roads

it has a nicer, more absurd ring to it

see: Mon, 01/26/2009 - 13:58 — Samson-

Again, no matter what you say, you have yet to provide one reliable source and I have proven you wrong on every occasion. Just scroll up this page and you'll it.

you admit that palestinians do live under apartheid. you just think it is necessary due to "security concerns"...

access from Gaza into Isreal is necessary for security reasons. Call that restriction what you will.

As long as Israel is the target of suicide bombers, then such restrictions are easily justified.

Hamas did stop the suicide bombing. For their troubles they were starved (literally).

Now, they're incentive to try again is ???

So many self-fulfilling (bad) prophecies on both sides, over and over and over....

[Deleted. Take a break from the thread. Walk away from your computer for 15 minutes and come back on another thread. You're starting to chatter. Thank you. Site Monitor]

You

are uninformed? Shall I repost all those links from before?

Leading horse to water again ...

[Maybe you didn't see the edit on your last comment: please take a break. Thank you. Site Monitor]

im done

got my severance check from the cia...am a victim of the economy

seems that i am the only one who is accused of "chatter"

so im done posting

if they do...lets open those borders wide and declare america to be an apartheid state

how can a people who readily accepted jordanian passports and held them, even after the 67 war be considered to be living in an apartheid state?

the only way that occurs is if you say that israel as it exists today has no right to exist

if that is the case...we agree to disagree

and then, like finkelstein and chomsky...you choose to disregard any history prior to 67

[Deleted-Sitemonitor]

Perhaps your review was a bit premature. Samson, Noam Chomsky, and Norman Finklestein all in one shot.

And this is following a complete non-sequitur which alleges that the only way a person could believe Israel is an apartheid state is if that person wants to kill all the Jews.

So

Arab Israelis (20%) have the same rights as the 80%, but the West Bank Arabs (Palestinians) have less rights, they are the subjugated occupied territory people, the 5/8s people.

ethnic cleansing

RIIIIIIIIIGGGGGHHHHTTTTTTT........

Jimmy Carter believes Israel has no right to exist. You mean the Jimmy Carter who got the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the Egypt-Israel peace agreement?

THAT Jimmy Carter?

Hmmmm?

Historical facts have no place in an argument like this.

Owned!

"jimmy and others wish to use that name as it gives legitamacy to the concept that the state of israel has no right to exist"

Can you show me the link?

Of course he can't. Like all apologists, he can only call people names.

Jimmy Carter is one of the few politicians who truly works for peace, and when he says anything that doesn't toe the Israeli government's line, people like tubesox call him anti-Semitic.

Small minds, small arguments......

South Africa was a pretty evil immoral regime, But nothing on the scale like Gaza and the West Bank.

They had a two/three state approach, and white rule in the important areas. Plus when the world message was hammered home long enough through sanctions they integrated.

Some diehard apartheid people left, most stayed.

according to an Israeli ex-neighbour of mine, a claim, which as a fervent Zionist, he made proudly. And he'd been in South Africa too. During Apartheid.

...mass murderers also. Tubesox...you can't defend this.

They had the truth and reconciliation commission, own up and your sins are forgiven.

Some people left SA rather than admit their sins, most stayed to rebuild the country unified.

That is patently false.

The Palestinians in Israel (not the West Bank, not Gaza) are second class citizens.

In fact, just recently, when Palestinians from cities like Nazareth and Haifa went out in peaceful demonstrations against the massacres in Gaza, the Israeli police arrested 700 of them, many were held without charges.

The "arab" parties in the Israeli parliament were also banned from running in the upcoming elections by the Election Commission because right wing Israeli parties accused them of "inciting terrorism" for voicing their objections to the government's attack on Gaza.

Luckily, after a lot of pressure and litigation, the Supreme Court allowed them to run.

Israel is a democracy for the Jewish population only. PERIOD.

if a person is a palestinian, they are not by definition a legal citizen of israel

i do recall in our own country protestors at the republican convention being arrested and held without charge...then being released

and the israel supreme court upheld the right of the arab parties to run...proving again that they have the same rights as all israeli citizens (except for members of kach...a racist jewish party which has been banned)

so arabs israelis have more rights than racist jews

imagine that

Dude, you have no clue what you're talking about. Back away from the computer.

The "Arabs" label was tacked on by assholes like you and by Israel's leadership to dissolve their national origins, i.e. Palestinian.

They are Palestinians, but they live in Israel and have an Israeli citizenship. I should know. I am one.

As for the banning of parties issue, that was just one recent example of the kind of discrimination and racism that is prevalent in Israeli government and society.

You can't defend the systematic discrimination of the Palestinian minority in Israel, both through systematic budget reductions, no health or social investment like in the Jewish sector....etc. etc..

There's even a handbook put out by a human rights organization in Israel with statistics about all this.

and do you not have the right to petition the government?

are you saying you are not covered under kupat chulim like every other citizen?

do you not have representation in the knesset? is there not an arab supreme court justice?

is it not true that kach is the only banned political entity in israel?

as for education...i suggest you stand in line with all the other secular israelis who scream about the extra benefits that the religious seem to get over them

Didn't you read what I wrote? End of discussion.

Keep your suggestions to yourself.

In case you're not familiar with tubesox, he's an apologist for the Israeli government. They can do no wrong. It's all the Palestinians' fault, and if you don't think so, you're an anti-Semite.

If you are familiar with him, then you already know this.

Like talking to a brick wall......

I just get a kick of proving him wrong time after time. I wonder if he has any self-respect or dignity at all. Meh...

and if you dont wish for me to respond...dont respond to my posts

if the situation living in israel is so untenable for you, move to the west bank

or jordan...your true home state, according to the original british mandate

transjordan, my home sweet home

So you admit that Israel makes life unbearable for the Palestinian minority in Israel?

Gee, that sounds familiar....

I think it was the Bush administration that called all of us who disagreed with official policies that we were unpatriotic.

And his minions told us to "love it or leave it."

Your brainwashing is now complete. Please vote Republican.

Let's play guess the context again. Last time you figured out the relevance but ended up telling me never to believe anything a Palestinian said (any Palestinian?).

"We have no solution, you shall continue to live like dogs, and whoever wishes may leave, and we will see where this process leads. "

Hint, this one isn't from a Palestinian, so even in your narrow field of reference it should be valid.

i could list off a number of people you could allege to have said that...it is a misquote

but if you give me a moment, i will be happy to list off quotes from the great palestinian leader, arafat, who was amazingly born in egypt

I have never, ever mentioned Arafat. So, what if he said something bad.

As my grandmother said, "If they jump off the roof, you will too?".

My point is not to defend Hamas (or Fatah or the PLO or the PA) here, I am calling Israel accountable for their own actions.

Nope. Dayan. Quote was controversial when it was first quoted (since Chomsky first quoted it in English) but has been researched and is legitimate.

Full context:
In regards to what to say to Palestinians in the occupied territories. He further said, they were like a girl kidnapped by Bedouins in the scenario. Israel had them and would continue to do to them as it pleased, even if the situation was not of their will. This was what Israeli's were to say to them on the subject. And yeah, Dayan was crazy colorful like that.

Also, considered to be one of the more sympathetic of the Israeli's of his era to Palestinians. He was one of the original land for peacers, remember?

you mean the guy who ripped down the israeli flag from the western wall in 67 so as not to offend the arabs?

the guy who beckoned back arab exiles to the occupied territories?

the guy who said that israelis urged on syrians to shoot that them by driving tractors into no man's land?

im sorry that i got defensive...but that quote too is taken out of context...because chomsky purposefully did so

dayan was speaking of refugees...which at the time did not mean all palestinians

it is also chomsky's translation of the hebrew into english...which is also suspect

here is the entire quote

...that we have no solution, that you shall continue to live like dogs, and whoever wants to can leave — and we will see where this process leads In five years we may have 200,000 less people — and that is a matter of enormous importance.'"

even that quote is truncated and taken out of context

and that is the pattern of the chomskies and the finkelsteins

which is why i have respect for neither

And yes, exactly refugees. This is what he was speaking of. In five years we may have 200,000 less people is extremely relevant .. in the occupied territories.

Demographics. Scary word. In context. Of course he could have cared less (as you) with Palestinians in Jordan or further away. They had already left.

So even with your view of the context, does not differ with Chomsky in this case. I agree misquoting is a problem, I have corrected on another site a different Dayan quote which is taken out of context a lot. My correction was quite pro-Israel. I check my quotes before bothering with them. Why? I'm a cynical bastard.

We agree on context. We agree on who he was referring to. All we've learned from your post is that you have no respect for "chomskies and the finkelsteins".

that Hamas would never discriminate against any Israelis should they succeed in their quest to replace Israel with an Islamic state.

I wonder if Cyndi Lauper would agree to sing 'lie after lie' for you to the tune of "time after time".

your only response to any inconvenient truth is to hurl an insult. So much for your degree in international relations.

There's no point in responding with respect to someone who resfuses to accept a fact, despite that fact being repeated to him....wait for it...
..

time after time

So if you repeat something false time after time it becomes the truth. Maybe if you capitalize all your posts it will speed the truthening process.

cant discriminate against the dead and exiled

that is hamas' goal

about what Palestinian leaders would, or would not do, if given the opportunity to run their own state have absolutely no bearing on the discussion at hand.

Did you have a point?

an opportunity to run Gaza right now. There are a lot of useful things they might be importing and infrastructure improvements they might make.Instead they fritter away their resources importing munitions and in pointless rockets attacks that will achieve no more than the Israeli incursion into Gaza. They were elected to govern and that implies doing something more than pursuing a utterly pointless and endless low level conflict.

If the Palestinians in Israel had more rights than racist Jews, Israel would allow those Palestinians to live in Jewish cities and towns and would allow them to buy property in settlements (which they probably won't do, but it's the double standard that counts in this case).

Again, no Jewish person would sell a Palestinian family a house in a Jewish city like Tel-Aviv.

The municipality of Tel_Aviv also refused to allow the Arabs in Jaffa to renovate their old homes. It actually hopes that they will eventually move out, so that it can settle Jewish families there and turn it into a touristy town.

fine....

when are the one million jews who were exiled from arab lands in 1948 and on going to be allowed back, given back their lands or compensated

people, who btw, wanted their land back so badly, that between 48 and 67 they all held jordanian passports

and there we have loom...who does not believe that the state of israel has the right to exist

thank you

eom

who throws all arabs, whether citizen or not, into the same hopper

and the israeli democracy is not the same as ours...just as no european democracy is like ours

israel does not have full freedome of speech...which is why kach was banned

They are hostage subjects inside an occupied territory, UN resolutions and international law states this,

Gaza briefly became free of 'occupation' recently when the settlers were dragged out by the IDF in 2005 or so.

a single state with a secular government, and Jewish, Christian, Islamic, atheist and others living with protection and free access to all religious sites as desired.

I think the answer would be "Yes, please" for all but a small fraction of hardliners.

Heck, even making the offer and seeing who waffles would be a great way to separate wheat from chaff.

Gaza is a tiny area with a huge population due to the influx of refugees beginning in 1948, when approximately 200,000 people fled to Gaza from the Jaffa and Beersheva areas of what is now Israel following Israel's War of Independence.

The original population of the Gaza Strip at that time was 80,000 people, today over 1.5 million are registered refugees and reside in the Gaza.

The Gaza Aquifer is the only source of fresh water for the residents of Gaza. Thanks to ongoing Israeli military strikes, the pipelines are severely damaged and more than 50% of the fresh water from the Gaza Aquifer leaks and is undrinkable.

Despite taxes being payed by Palestinians to the Israeli government, the Knesset has done little and usually nothing to send in maintenance personnel to help repair the damage to the Gaza Aquifer. As of 2009, 40% of the Palestinians living in the Gaza have no fresh, drinkable water.

The Gaza is essentially a segregation zone and exactly mirrors how the Apartheid government of South Africa treated the former black homelands of Tswanaland, Bophuthatswana, and Zululand.

gazans no longer work in israel...not since the blockade

they no longer pay any taxes into israel...taxes are now collected directly from the pa

why hasnt the pa brought in crews?

oh thats right...cuz hamas has a habit of killing fatah members

The fact is, Israel keeps closing access roads into the Gaza and pressuring Egypt to do the same to the south.

The Gaza economy is near collapse which is precisely what Israel wants and is trying to orchestrate.

The population of Gaza is suffering from growing signs of malnutrition, especially among the poorest children. Women's health is worsening and life expectancy is declining.

There are shortages of cooking oil, medicine, water (as I explained in a previous post) and half the population is so poor they cannot buy seeds to plant vegetables to eat.

The World Food Program helps to feed the poorest of the nonrefugees and now has 280,000 beneficiaries in the Gaza when the Israelis allow them in.

Meanwhile, across the border in Israel, the majority of the population live a lifestyle akin to residents of the Westside of Los Angeles.

But these are facts you choose to ignore as you try to defend the inhumane policies of the hoodlum Likuds.

and i guess you missed the trucks of food and relief that israel was sending in during the incursion

i saw them...watched the live feed

but guess what...tell hamas to lay down all their weaponry, remove the destruction of israel from their charter, stop strapping bombs onto retarded kids...and everything goes back to the way it was

the borders reopen...gazans go back to work in israel (cuz they destroyed the industry left for them by the settlers) negotiations start anew...and there is peace in the land

but i wont hold my breath

Rather than insisting that Hamas lay down its weaponry, Israel should probably be content with the cessation of rocket attacks from Gaza and an admission from Hamas that Israel has a right to exist.

With both of those in hand, real negotiations could restart.

im sorry

the ones that went to the warehouse that was then destroyed? With 3 hours giving just enough time to unload but not distribute.

You know what they say about Israeli strategic superiority?

Step 1. Send in trucks with cameras to get full media war value.
Step 2. Plan cease fire for exactly right number of hours.
Step 3. Unload trucks and remove, but don't give the UNWRA any time to distribute the contents of the trucks.
Step 4. Bomb supplies delivered to ensure they won't get distributed.

Step 5. ??? Profit?

I've played war games. They're fun. War games when a media war is as important as the physical is not a new dimension from an intelligence standpoint. That was brilliant! I assure you that if it ends up working, it will be studied in the future.

then sold on the black market...or killed fatah members to keep control of

wanna show me one other war that had daily cease fires?

look...i watched the live feed...despite what you were hearing from the press...there were large areas untouched by the idf

.. in the above is kill fatah members to keep control of ...

This, Hamas does liberally, and "control of" can mean anything to them.

You are still believing propaganda ... perhaps it is a sheep I am leading to water. Your own propaganda always tastes sweeter, but its all water.

surely Hamas would have killed them all.

Hamas is working on that. Though, to be fair to Hamas, sometimes they don't kill them. They just shoot them in the legs.

what other countries have categorically refused to allow their soldiers ever to be tried by any international court?

What country has allowed their soldier to be tried?

but only at gunpoint. General Milosevic springs to mind as a recent example.

to commit war crimes, training, discipline and officer/nco supervision prevents it.

There is not a war against terror. It is a war against the have nots waged by the haves. It doesn't matter whether the haves are a democracy or a dictorship.

We have a winner!

No Peace.

No justice.

The front-runner in Israel's election said in an interview published Monday that he would let Jewish settlements expand in the West Bank if he's elected prime minister, threatening to put him at odds with the Obama administration.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090126/ap_on_re_...

This guy is insane. More war and more war crimes ahead.

There are no jewish "settlements" in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

There are, however, jewish squatters and they need to be removed - by force (i.e. arrest) if necessary.

there are no settlements in the gaza...they were removed in 2005

oooops

Avi Shlaim, an Israeli scholar, who teaches at Oxford and was interviewed on Democracy Now stated that Israel removed the 8000 settlers from the Gaza Strip, only to re-settle 12,000 in the West Bank.

ooops

and yet, the settlers that were removed from Gaza have been treated like second-class citizens - they never received the promised compensation for the taking of their homes and businesses, no homes, no new jobs, etc.

and it's not as if they just moved there out of some kind of expansionist zeal, they moved there because the government subsidized it.

so now they're being treated like, shall we say, pal-arabs?

I bet he misses Bush and Cheney.

Israel only followed the Bush Administration's Policy and that will be their defense. Not one country said a word about how the US murdered 1 million Iraq people or how innocent men/woman/children were tortured/raped and some murdered without anything done about it. Israel will win in this mass murder because Bush was allowed to do it.
Video was shown of soldiers watching a 4 year old girl burn to death with a fire bomb. The soldiers said the child was Hamas. Families were put together in their homes and executed in cold blood. Woman/Children were ordered to go to the UN safe houses and Israel then used Cluster bombs to kill all of them. Pictures of the dead children's bodies as Soldiers laughed and cheered. This was an act of cold blooded murder and the proof shows it.

If nothing is done others will use the Bush Policy and even Americans will finally learned and experience what others had done to them. Israel worked with Bush on the plan of invasion if McCain/Palin lost the election. Now Israel looks just like the Nazis and the Bush Administration. I look forward to the Palestine people having a Museum built showing the current Holocaust Massacre that Israel did on the innocent Palestine men/woman/children. Who in their right mine says a 4 year old little girl who is burning to death is Hamas? This is pure sick and Evil.

)O(

When Israel's leaders say they will defend any Israeli soldier accused of war crimes, what they are really saying is that they hope ONLY the soldiers will be charged with war crimes - as has been done in the US.

Prosecute Israel's Leaders

Hear hear!

How is it a conflict of interest? Both Israel and the soldiers have the same interest!

Since they were so open with the press coverage of the slaughter (oops, I mean "conflict"), I imagine they'll have the same level of transparency for the investigation.

yes, that is the famous mads gilbert assisting a hamas member in perpertrating a hoax for the cameras

please explain to me why, with all the alleged civillian casualties, including alleged use of wp and depleted uranium, the above fake resuciation needed to be played out?

these 2 "randomly" chosen clips have convinced me that charges of civilian deaths, use of wmds on civilians and israeli war crimes are all hoaxes perpetrated by the scheming palestinians!!!

and the "gaza smells like a toilet" comments really bolstered your case too!!

/snark off

well, i guess if i could find any clips of mads really doing the work of a doctor and not a spokesman for hamas, they wouldnt be so random

but goshdurn it...cant find one

and what do the comments have to do with the fact that this vid is a fake resucitation
