The Democratic Daily: In yesterday's WaPo, John Kerry Kerry eloquently makes the case that he would “rather explain a change of position any day than look a parent in the eye and tell them that their son or daughter had to die so that a broken policy could live.”

TPMCafe: Take a look at the 2000 GOP foreign policy platform, and reread the litany of indictments BushCo had issued with respect to Clinton’s foreign policy. Sure makes for interesting reading.

War is hell and this is a great example why it actually should be a last resort. Some warbloggers just don't care who dies anymore.

Captain Ed: "This is war, and unfortunately war results in collateral deaths by mistaken targeting."

Tell that to the families that lost their loved ones.

Aaron Broussard responds

Tim Russert went on the attack today to please the right wing apologists who had the nerve to fact check his impassioned outburst on MTP during the nightmare of Katrina. (Update-fact checking is fine, but to me this was callous) When you don't like what you hear-attack the messenger. Yes, you uncovered a distorted time line of events. A man who had experienced the pain of his friend’s mother’s death muddied the facts. Who did it hurt? All levels of government including the President and you can't have that. What was the end result? A man’s mother died. She’s gone. You cretins. How do you sleep at night knowing that? What did your investigation prove? Aaron Broussard got the facts wrong in an emotional outburst on national television. Way to go. I have posted videos that attacked most everyone involved in this fiasco. Everyone played a part in this but you would rather attack Broussard who witnessed the mass death of hundreds of people and the coldness of your own hearts couldn’t allow for him losing it. I probably can guess that not one of you shed a tear over anybody that lost their lives because of government ineptitude.

I wonder how many of these apologists have ever been in a catastrophe before? These fools see any attempt to put the blame at the door of the federal government as biased. Even Michelle Malkin who I disagree with on almost everything only had the nerve to post a brief article on the episode. I think she knew better than to get into the action herself because you know she would if she felt strongly about it.

To explain it to the tools. Tragedy like we saw with Katrina has a horrifying effect on you when you're in the middle of it. (I've been in two major earthquakes) When your friend's mother dies because of neglect you don't line up your talking points and crocodile tears to score political points.

Broussard was stunned today when Timmy replayed the segment and he attacked back. You decide on the merits of what he said both times he was on the show.

Broussard: "Listen, sir, somebody wants to nitpick a man's tragic loss of a mother because she was abandoned in a nursing home? Are you kidding? What kind of sick mind, what kind of black-hearted people want to nitpick a man's mother's death? They just buried Eva last week. I was there at the wake. Are you kidding me? That wasn't a box of Cheerios they buried last week."

It's Taser Tuesday

We start with a follow up on a disturbing story from last week. A deputy with an itchy trigger finger answering a domestic disturbance call showed up at the wrong house and tasered an Iraq War Marine in the chest with his 50 thousand volt stun gun.

The Marine filed an internal report and before investigation could begin, the deputy resigned.

A note from the Brad Blog!

As I'm unable to get to The BRAD BLOG due to the crush of traffic since reporting the "WHISTLEBLOWER AFFIDAVIT: Programmer Built Vote Rigging Prototype at Republican Congressman's Request!" story, I am also unable to report on a sad new related item just in.

I've just spoken with Clint Curtis, the "whistleblower" in this case, and he's reported that his previously healthy three-year old German Shepard has been found dead. Just a few hours after I published my story on Mr. Curtis.

I don't wish to give any other details for the moment, but the story should get out there. And I'm sorry to say that this is the second time this has occured to Mr. Curtis over the years since he began trying to tell his story.

I am angry, frustrated, hurt and feel somewhat responsible somehow. But I suppose it's a good reminder of the kind of folks that Mr. Curtis has been dealing with down in Florida for so many years.

As well, I'll have to take it as a good reminder of how important it is that we continue to fight for a government populated by people who we can trust. And to continue working towards a world where this sort of thing just doesn't happen to good honest individuals like Mr. Curtis who has put up with so much in order to tell his story.

I would also like to mention something to whoever decided it was a good idea to kill an innocent animal in order to threaten or warn or intimidate Mr. Curtis in some way. Clint's remarkable courage in reporting what he has seen over the years, has lead directly to charges being filed against people who were committing espionage against the United States of America.

If there were more folks like him, willing to stand up bravely rather than sink to the cowardly level of destroying an innocent animal to make a point, I'm quite certain everyone in this country would be much better off for it.

Since I am unable to post this story for the moment, until traffic dies down at my site, I hope that you will find this email notable enough to consider posting on your blog. Please feel free to post the entire note as is.

Regards,

Brad
