Number 15 in our countdown is a tie between several related videos. We like to call it "debate hate."

The video at the top is from the September 22, 2011 debate, where a gay soldier asked Rick Santorum whether he would roll back the repeal of DADT and the progress gays have made in the military under President Obama. Before Santorum could answer, some in the audience booed the soldier loudly. No candidate spoke up.

But that isn't the first time debate hate has reared its ugly head. On September 7th, the audience cheered Rick Perry's record of executing a record number of prisoners in Texas, including at least one who was innocent.

Things Sarah Palin Loves

Sometimes the pictures tell the story. Sarah Palin's latest Twitter favorite comes to us via Ann Coulter's tweets:

What is Ann's new church that Sarah thought was so cool she saved it as a favorite (one of only three, by the way)?

If you're having trouble reading that marquis, here's what it says:

The blood of Jesus against Obama
History Made 4 Nov 2008 A Taliban
Muslim illegally elected
President USA Hussein

And just to top it all off, pretend-President Palin dares to suggest that Obama is using the Pentagon for opposition research.

What a --- (you fill in the blank).

Torture: Quite Popular

Torture: Quite Popular from Body and Soul

I know you all are going to hate me for sending you over to Andrew Sullivan, but his post on the Schmidt Report (you know, the one the New York Times claims "Discredits F.B.I. Claims of Abuse at Guantánamo Bay") really is essential reading, pointing out, first, the means used to avoid saying the obvious -- that what has gone on at Guantanamo fits any ordinary person's definition of torture -- and second, the fact that, whether the investigators feel free to say so or not, this torture was policy, not aberration.

Which is what some people have been trying to tell us for quite a while.

Among the things I didn't want to know: Torture seems to be quite popularBody and Soul

Ground Zero Out

The preposterous conspiracy-mongering of "JFK" and the bizarre distortions of "Nixon" were the one-two punch that ended any interest I had in the work of bomb-throwing filmmaker Oliver Stone. So the news that Stone isplanning a film about 9/11 prompted no reaction from me besides "I'm SO not in that theater."

But the culture wars never rest, and thanks to Wolcott I see that various winger bloggers are already in full-froth mode over the idea of Stone laying his paws on the subject. But before anyone gets too hysterical about politically-motivated filmmakers desecrating Ground Zero, let me remind them of a piece of tripe called "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis," a mendacious love letter to George W. Bush that aired on Showtime in 2003. For me, the high point of this claptrap was seeing Bush (played by Timothy Bottoms, possibly atoning for "That's My Bush!") stoutly declaring, "If some two-bit terrorist wants me, he can come get me right here!" We all saw "Fahrenheit 9/11" and we all saw the video footage of what George II did on that awful morning -- he sat in a classroom staring into space in doe-eyed, vapor-locked panic. The 9/11 attacks are part of history and it's any filmmaker's privilege to use history as Silly-Putty, just as it's my pleasure to call him on it -- if you ever have a spare hour, just get me started on the way "Gangs of New York" romanticized the Draft Riots. But Oliver Stone is going to have to go a long way to make a film even half as nauseating as "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis." planning a film about 9/11 prompted no reaction from me besides "I'm SO not in that theater."

NASA Probe Penetrates Tom Cruise's Ego      that one blog

NASA scientist were jubilant yesterday when a probe launched over six months ago successfully penetrated the ego of Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

Dr. Dale Huston, Project Director for the Ego Impact mission said that scientists will now have an unprecedented look at what goes into the make-up of a superstar. “We’ve had our theories, but now we’ll have some solid facts,” said Dr. Huston. “We’ve always known there is a real core of acting talent there but Cruise’s recent erratic behavior had scientist puzzled. He fired his long time publicist, has been jumping up and down on talk show couches and claimed that the fields of psychiatry and pharmacology are frauds, his ego lost stability as it expanded.”

Over to you, wingers.

Countdown to Impeachment 2005

In perhaps one of the largest turnarounds in modern political history, only six months after winning reelection, Bush has apparently squandered his mandate and now finds himself a lame duck, his powerful political capitol spent. Yes, dear readers, America is finally on to the man and it is doubtful that his presidency will survive the next two years.

So unlikely is his political survival that we here at the RECOVERING LIBERAL feel completely comfortable in beginning what amounts to as a countdown to IMPEACHMENT (Drum Roll Please!).

And what a lovely impeachment it will be, televised and tivo'd, and commented on by AL and Randi at AIR AMERICA while being dutifully dissected by our brothers and sisters in the BLOGGING COMMUNITY Including: BLONDESENSE, AMERICAblog, DAILY KOS, and of course here in the red, white and blue pages of the LIB.

We are confident that in the next twenty-four months Dubya and the gang will be relegated to their rightful place in history as the war criminals, thieves and zealots that they most definitely are.

That they will be taken to task for lying about the WMD'S and for generally disregarding the will of the American people, who mostly believe that war should only be fought only when our nation is at jeopardy and not because war is good business.

We further believe that they will be held to answer for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives squandered as collateral damage in this War for Oil as well as for the senseless loss of our own troops, and for the ongoing pain and suffering of those soldiers, sailors and marines lucky enough to survive their tour of duty in Iraq.

Additionally, it is our sincere hope that they will be charged for their crimes against the environment and for the senseless destruction of the air that we breath, the water that we drink, and the food that we eat in the name of shameless profit.

Lastly, it is our fondest desire they be made to pay dearly for the climate of hate, which they have engendered, endorsed and fueled with their draconian approach to the maters of gay rights, stem cell research and evolution, as well as their support for those who preach hate in God's name.

And these are just some of the things which we would like to see them answer for in this life. God, I'm sure, has a few issues of his own to discuss with them.CROOKS AND LIARS, DAILY KOS, and of course here in the red, white and blue pages of the LIB.

God Made Me Popular For A Reason!

via That Colored Fellas : By La Shawn Barberella

The execution of this poor woman by ‘activist judges’, abortion-on-demand crazed lesbos at Planned Parenthood and Black Liberals who hate me but still read my blog, has now increased demand from the cable networks for my on-air insight and analysis! Such a reflection of my increasing popularity has forced me to hire the veteran publicist/media advisor Bumble Ward, who also represents the famous Director Tim Burton.

With my many appearances on MSNBC’s Connected Coast To Coast, I can now tell you my dear readers that CNN is now the only anti-American cable news network left! read on

Sean Hannity Calls Congressman "A**hole"

Sean Hannity Calls Congressman "Asshole"

via Oliver Willis

Sean Hannity, the talking-point spouting mouthpiece on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes was recently caught by Harry Shearer slamming a Democratic congressman as an "asshole" when Hannity didn't realize he was being recorded.

Strangely, Hannity is constantly decrying the lack of civility from Democrats, but in the recording goes on to say "I hate these people"

Powerline: The Great Unraveling

. Powerline: The Great Unraveling

Powerline :A Sad Day

"What I don't understand is why this tragic case should be an occasion for the partisan hatred which currently bedevils our public life.

" I don't know how to account for it, unless one concludes that for some liberals, politics is about hate, period."

A picture of right wing zealots calling for Jeb Bush's head, yet it's liberals who hate.

Powerline again:

Why? Maybe they have "fallen half in love with death," as Noonan suggests? Or maybe they are just frustrated by losing elections, seeing the tide turn in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East (must Terri die for Bush's "sins"?), etc. Whatever the case, it makes for a sad and sorry spectacle.

A Christian conservative judge (with a price on his head) backed by the Conservative lead Supreme Court is ruling on this case, yet it's Bush hating liberals that are some how calling the shots. They should take a look in the mirror to find where the real hate is coming from.

US 'losing war of ideas'

US 'losing war of ideas'

If this surprises you, you haven't been paying attention:
THE US is losing the war of ideas in the Islamic world, failing to elucidate its policies to Muslims wary of American intentions and "self-serving hypocrisy", a Pentagon advisory panel has found.

The Defence Science Board, in a report made available today, urged the creation of a "strategic communication" apparatus within the White House and an overhaul of public diplomacy, public affairs and information dissemination efforts by the Pentagon and State Department.

"If we really want to see the Muslim world as a whole and the Arabic-speaking world in particular move more toward our understanding of 'moderation' and 'tolerance,' we must reassure Muslims that this does not mean that they must submit to the American way," the report stated.

The toughly worded report said that while America's efforts to explain its policies have failed, improved public relations efforts cannot sell faulty policies.

"Muslims do not hate our freedom, but rather they hate our policies," the panel stated.

DON IMUS, host: They're [Palestinians] eating dirt and that fat pig wife [Suha Arafat] of his is living in Paris.

ROSENBERG: They're all brainwashed, though. That's what it is. And they're stupid to begin with, but they're brainwashed now. Stinking animals. They ought to drop the bomb right there, kill 'em all right now.

BERNARD MCGUIRK, producer: You can just imagine standing there.

ROSENBERG: Oh, the stench.

IMUS: Well, the problem is that we have Andrea [Mitchell, NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent] there. We don't want anything to happen to her.

ROSENBERG: Oh, she's got to get out. Just warn Andrea, get out, and then drop the bomb, kill everybody.

MCGUIRK: It's like the worst Woodstock.

ROSENBERG: Look at this. Look at these animals. Animals!
