John Amato on The Young Turks Talking About Wolf-PAC
The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur had on our John Amato. They talked about Cenk's new Wolf-PAC and what it would take to amend the Constitution.
All You Need to Know About John Boehner Summed Up in One Tweet
It's not just a tweet - it's a re-tweet of the Heritage Foundation that showed up on the Speaker of the House's feed. Yes, the Heritage Foundation - you know the people who scored the first Bush Tax Cut and reported they would:
1) Effectively pay off the federal debt;
2) Reduce the federal surplus by $1.4 trillion;
3) Substantially increase family income;
4) Save the entire Social Security surplus;
5) Increase personal savings;
6) Create more job opportunities.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. And wrong. Nice credible people to associate with, Boehner. Even better people to have your aide parrot on Twitter.
I've yet to see 140-characters sum up a person better than this tweet. Amazing.
And of all the CEOs in the world who could be kvetching about the Affordable Care Act - they quote one from a fast food chain?!
“I’m very concerned that in the coming years we’ll be unable to create as many jobs as we would like due to the increased expenses necessitated by laws such as the PPACA [Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act],” Andy Puzder testified.
Oh no! Fewer burger flipping jobs?! In America? Right.
Let us not forget that when we're talking about minimum wage jobs - we're talking about jobs you can't live on so you're forced to rely on food stamps and Medicaid to survive. When we talk about minimum wage jobs - we're talking about government subsidized workers.
Andy Puzder CEO of Carls Jr. is a McJobs creator.
Hey Boehner - where are all those taxpayer-funded McJobs?

Michele Bachmann plus John Quincy Adams equals Best. Blingee. Ever.
Back in the time of the founding fathers of July, 1776, John Quincy was about to turn 9. That's okay, we understand that at age 9, Michele Bachmann was working tirelessly to defund Obamacare.

Why doesn't he do an undercover 20/20 special where he sells his own kidney in the black market if he's in such support of this? You know--to make a statement.
This guy is as dishonest as they come. See this...and this.
Update: Also who can forget this one...

Bill Napoli's SD virgin rant

Digby wrote about this last week from this PBS show. It's always much more powerful listening and seeing the people who promote these draconian positions.

BILL NAPOLI: A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life.
When you hear Napoli's little monologue, he sounds like a man from one of those Satanic cult movies.
Digby then responds to a track-back:
"I got a track-back from the blog "Responding To the Left" to the post below, specifically the story of the woman who had an abortion because she already had two small children and couldn't afford another. I think it is an eloquent and honest representation of the way that many in the pro-life movement feel and it's great to see it out in the open so we can begin to debate this thing honestly:...read on
mcjoan over at Kos looks at John McCain's (having it both ways) view of SD's abortion ban:
"Well, Senator, the problem is that the South Dakota bill specifically ruled out exceptions for rape or incest, allowing only an exception for the
healthlife of the mother, and by golly, the women of South Dakota were damned lucky to get that. I guess it's small comfort to know that their own lives rate just a little bit higher than a fertilized egg...read on"
(Update): Gov. Mike Rounds on Monday signed legislation banning almost all abortions in South Dakota....read on
Jeff "G" exposed on Countdown
Click here for WMP
Dana Milbank appeared on Keith Olbermann last night and pointed out most of the problems that the bloggers have had with Jeff (whatever his name is) Gannon having access to the White House. He gives a hat tip to World O' Crap as a source of information. Listening to Milbank talking about the much more serious issue of Jeff "G" as a shill for the White House after hearing Howard Kurtz completely glaze over the story on Blitzer, shows you the difference in reporting that can go on between "columnists from the same paper.
Milbank: As of Monday I saw whatever-his name-is waiting outside there at the White House, in fact he would probably be allowed to continue doing this as of now if their weren't some website called of all things "World O' Crap" that had gotten into all those personal allegations. It was Jeff's decision or whatever his name's decision to uhh step down. He wasn't kicked out of the White House at all. That's really where all the scandal lies in this whole thing.
The NY Daily News gets into the story and names John Aravosis of AMericaBlog as a source:
"The issue here is whether someone with connections to male prostitution was given unfettered access to the White House and copies of internal CIA documents. For a family values administration, that's pretty creepy," said John Aravosis, one of the bloggers chasing the story."
Keith Olbermann's Scorecard: Kerry Wins Easily
Points Scoring: The Scorer's Table unenthusiastically reports this bout as going to Senator John Kerry by 12 rounds to 4, with 5 rounds even. On individual points, Senator Kerry is awarded a net total of 19 points, and President Bush a net of 2, having undermined his own effort with no less than eight points subtracted, three of them in a disastrous 12th Round in which the President had to be told time was up, answered a question with, in essence, 'all of the above,' and stumbled by inadvertently criticizing himself by claiming the borders of Texas were tighter than they'd been when he was Governor there. He also lost points for having twice invoked the 2000 election, and for once having given back at least a minute of time when the question hadn't really been answered.
