Greg Sargent...

Check out this appearance by Robinson on Hardball. Robinson defends Pelosi's trip to Syria. And he also says a couple things about his colleagues on the editorial page, which is edited by Fred Hiatt. He says this: "I`m pleased to be able to tell you I`m not a member of the editorial board." And this: "They should tell us what they really think."

The Pump Handle: Sam Fox is merely a rich ideologue whose money helped further corrode civilized public discourse.  Another of Bush's recess appointments threatens public health protections.

The Opinion Mill:  While Islamist violence abroad is certainly dangerous, we have plenty of homegrown terrorists with light complexions and flag decals on their vehicles to worry about as well. Meanwhile, the remains of the innocents slaughtered on 9/11 have been used to fill potholes, the uniform and personal affects of US Army ranger Pat Tillman have been burned, and Osama Bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Mullah Omar are all still alive and at large.

Faithful Progressive: Was a reversed Wisconsin "corruption" case related to partisan politics at the Department of Justice?  A well-respected state senator thinks it was.

PoliBlog: More about the administration of justice under the worst administration in U.S. history.  Recently installed as US Attorney in Minneapolis, Rachel Paulose is described as a person more prone to spout Bible quotes than the law.  That figures, since she was a pal of Pat Robertson U. grad, Monica Goodling.  Yesterday, the four senior-most career figures in the office resigned in unison in order to make a point.

All Things Democrat: Nancy Pelosi and her delegation should make another high profile trip to highlight the incompetence and rigidity of the Bush Crime Family.  That trip, of course, would be to New Orleans.

The Blotter: The Office of Special Counsel confirmed it has launched an investigation into General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan

The Impolitic: Libby has an excellent roundup...so does Steve...

Les Enragés: The Supreme Court recently decided not to rule on the issue of habeas corpus rights for the 385 detainees at the Guantanamo Bay prison. Apparently, they are reluctant for political reasons to signal to the public that a police state has fully entrenched itself on American soil.

Little Thom's Blog: Let the smearing of Republicans begin, especially "Jihad Darrell." The hypocrisy of BUSHCO and their mouth-breathing enablers is patholgical. Next, Pelosi will visit the Saudi dictatorship. Will we hear any wingnut condemnation?

Harper's: I have a sneaking suspicion that the five Iranians still held by U.S. forces in Iraq are going to be released in short order.

NPR : The Forgotten War on Drugs Not a blog, but this is a powerful, informative, five-part series. 38 years into the war on drugs , what has it accomplished and where should we go from here?

A Moment of Silence

"Rep. Patrick Murphy offers a Moment of Silence on the four year anniversary of the war in Iraq to honor of the memories of the fallen and to continue to do right by our troops still fighting."---Nancy Pelosi

MoJo Blog: Nancy Pelosi was booed at the recent American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference when she suggested that the war in Iraq was a failure. To whom and what are these groups loyal?

Republicans Hate Faith

...if it's not their own...

Faith in Public Life (h/t Dan)

House Republicans said that Democrats should retract an invitation to let the nation's largest Islamic civil liberties organization use a Capitol conference room for a seminar.

The House Republican Conference referred to the Council on American-Islamic Relations as "terrorist apologists" and called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) to cancel the forum scheduled for today.

"It should be a concern to ordinary Republicans that the party is being viewed as a reservoir of anti-Muslim hate," responded Ibrahim Hooper, the Muslim group's national communications director .
The council has 32 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada and says its mission is "to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding."

Politico Hackery?

Will The Politico offer an explanation? Doubt it.

So we have very good reason to suspect that Gerstein may well be a paid adviser to Lieberman. Incidentally, even if Gerstein is merely a current unpaid adviser to Lieberman, The Politico should have identified him as such when it published his attack on some of Lieberman's key political rivals.

Read the article and if you agree with Greg, email The Politico. I called them for comment, but was transfered to voice mail.

Update by Silent Patriot:

Anatomy of a Politico Distortion:

First Politico characterizes the Murtha/Pelosi plan with the inflammatory term "slow bleed." Then the GOP and right wing puppets pick up on it and, boom!, the Democrats' New Official Strategy is "Slow Bleed." Then FOX News (and soon after, CNN and MSNBC) reinforce the myth, always failing to mention that the plan actually protects the troops by ensuring they're properly rested and equipped before entering battle.

Two days later, Politico admits they made up the term, but that doesn't matter. Already a Google search for 'Murtha slow bleed strategy' yields 160,000 hits -- mostly all distortions of the plan, still attributing the term "slow bleed" to Murtha and Pelosi.
