C&L named a Top 25 Blog of 2009 by Time Magazine

TIME - Best Blog Bug 2009_a5828.gif

If John were to ask his hard-working staff to "go boldly and seek the accolades of
AOL/Time/Warner", well, you can imagine what their reaction would be.

But Time Magazine thinks we rock anyway.

Everyone at C&L works long and hard to make this corner of the internet worth the visit seven days a week. It's not done for the awards, naturally, but it's always nice to be recognized for what we do.

John Amato:

I'm very grateful for everyone who helps put this blog together and for all the help our readers give. I think it was Dan Manatt of Politics TV that called me the Vlog Father a few years ago when we were talking on the phone. I thought that was pretty funny and we laughed about it. TIME used it.

C&L Nominated for Best Liberal Blog at 2008 Weblog Awards

The 2008 Weblog Awards

I have the honor of writing this post for John Amato, who is taking a well-deserved break this week. Crooks and Liars has been nominated as "Best Liberal Blog" for the 2008 Weblog Awards. Online voting begins January 5.

Crooks & Liars is honored to be in the company below; this year brings an amazing list of nominees, including two bloggers in the C&L stable:

Hullabaloo

Think Progress
Sadly, No!
Brad Blog
Blue Gal (oops, is that a typo?)
Orcinus (C&L's David Neiwert's blog)
Truthdig
Wonkette
Taylor Marsh
Shakesville
The Confluence
Glenn Greenwald's Unclaimed Territory
Talking Points Memo

Yep, not only is this blog nominated, but Amato hires quality too, ha. [Frequent C&L contributor Driftglass has also been nominated, for best individual blogger.] Amato reminds his staff at various awards times that for him, blogging is never about hits, awards, or accolades. It's about making a difference and creating a community and dialogue with a lot of really amazing people. That said, it takes a large group of very dedicated people to put this blog together every day, and we're grateful for the nod.

Given that this award ceremony has only a virtual red carpet, I hereby exchange air kisses with Amato, David, and the rest of the nominees, as all of us sing the "it's an amazing honor to be nominated" refrain...

bloggie award

The C&L staff knows we've got some of the best, most politically aware readers of any blog out there, and we feel deeply honored every single day to be a part of this. Really.

This year we're also deeply gratified to have received the 2008 Bloggie Award for Best Political Blog. The Bloggies are the oldest blog awards, started in 2001. As the boss man John Amato says, "very kewl."

Thanks much to the nice folks who voted for us, much appreciated.

C&L Nominated for Three Blogger's Choice Awards

bloggers choice awards This humble blog has been nominated in the "Best Political Blog," "Best Video Blogger," and "Best Blog Design" categories.

The word from the upstairs office to the C&L staff is, "Feh, we don't care about awards, we just keep on putting it out as often and as well as we can, and let the chips fall."

Sure, John. But hey, it's nice that folks want to say that they like what we do. Thanks much for the noms, much appreciated.
