Speaking of the worst apologizer so far this year, here's the Tumblr blog "Geraldo in a Hoodie". Many pics. Some are actually hooded weather gear, but here he is wearing a hoodie at -- wait for it --
OCCUPY WALL STREET.
We at Crooks and Liars are deeply disappointed that no one here made the cut. We can't even say it was an honor to be nominated, so we don't have to applaud sweetly when Daily Kos (number 9) and Huffpo (number 14) waltz up and accept their statuettes. But we can't stop scratching our heads over the inclusion of Chris Matthews (13) and Geraldo Rivera (12). They're annoying, fer sure, but liberal? WTF?
The good news is Hillary Clinton gets to finish first someplace.
In even more news that will make Jane Fonda cry, Human Events Dot Com ["Leading the Conservative Movement since 1944" -- there was a dot com in 1944?] has named Rush Limbaugh their Man of the Year. I guess he'll be around to carry their water for a little bit longer.
Then he says he fell on Bill's sword over the apology while explaining why Limbaugh should apologize over his "phony soldiers" comment... Download | play (h/t Scarce and justabill for the vids) Malkin and Geraldo have been fighting for a while over her extreme immigration positions.
Rivera: Here’s the problem. I believe that proponents of immigration--like Michelle, Rush Limbaugh, Tancredo of Colorado, Lou Dobbs at CNN--those people would not agree to any immigration reform that allows the people who are here to remain.
Malkin: Geraldo has continued to play the race card..
“Michelle Malkin is the most vile, hateful commentator I’ve ever met in my life,” he says. “She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors, and we should be deporting people.
“It’s good she’s in D.C. and I’m in New York,” Rivera sneers. “I’d spit on her if I saw her.”

Subject: Re: Michelle no longer on the Factor?
I made the decision to quit appearing on the O’Reilly show in response to the poor handling of the Geraldo Rivera matter (the staged “apology” on The Factor was a complete farce). I won’t go into details, but please know that your support means a lot to me. You can catch me on other Fox News shows and read my daily blog posts and weekly columns at MichelleMalkin.com.
Best,
Michelle
FOX has been grooming her for a long time and something more had to happen for O'Reilly's team to let her go or for her to quit. A network doesn't develop what they think is an asset and then suddenly drop it. She was subbing on Fridays and Bill loves his girl team segments during the week. The most extreme right wing blogger out there just doesn't give up that spot over Geraldo in my opinion....I'm trying to get more information on this, but nobody--and I mean nobody--plays the victim better than Malkin...
So says Quigo! Oh, this keeps getting better. Poor Michelle Malkin is playing the victim again, but this time she's fighting back. She's placing ads against her FOX colleague Geraldo Rivera. He's been trying to fight the racist---anti-immigration positions that his network is promoting and he finally had enough of Malkin's routine. He couldn't have made his feelings any clearer in the Boston Globe and on H&C.
Malkin placed some Google ads against Geraldo and also placed it on the FOX Noise website and Quigo. The funny still keeps coming as she received an email telling MM that her content was offensive and the account was blocked.
On Friday's "Countdown" Keith talks to the founder of Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America, Paul Rieckhoff, about the latest developments surrounding the death of Pat Tillman. We've known many of these facts, but there's something about actually seeing the gory details that adds a whole new level of sadness and outrage to this national tragedy.
Ah, but the fun doesn't stop with Pat Tillman. Rieckhoff points out that during his press conference on Friday, President Bush channeled Geraldo by giving out sensitive information about the locations of American military posts around Baghdad.
"One of the things that did happen today that concerned me was that during Bush's press conference he actually showed a graphic that showed 24 urban military outposts in downtown Baghdad. I would argue that showing that to the world and potentially to our enemy might compromise moral - might actually compromise operational security."
"Our enemies aren't stupid. They can look at that and figure out a grid coordinate and try and drop mortars on those exact locations. I mean, this is like a Geraldo moment during the invasion when Geraldo started drawing troop operation movements in the sand. I mean, this is unprecedented in my experience and maybe I'm missing something, but this is a real worry and I wouldn't go throwing this out on the airwaves for everybody to see if I were the President."
You can find out more about Paul Rieckhoff's new book, Chasing Ghosts: Failures and Facades in Iraq: A Soldier's Perspective here.
Apparently Geraldo was visiting with 104.1 FM's Monsters just before Christmas, when they asked him about the time he made international headline for disclosing too much information about troops in Iraq. Geraldo claimed the incident was blown out of proportion, largely by NBC -- and specifically Olbermann. Geraldo then began mumbling semi-audible names, seemingly meant to describe Olbermann: "midget ... punk ... slimeball." But then, with the Monsters helpful prodding, Geraldo went a step further, leaving no doubt about what he was saying. He called Olbermann a coward -- specifically a He then said he was ready to fight him, saying: "I would make a pizza out of him."
Didn't Geraldo fight Stallone's brother for Howard Stern after he broke his nose with some White Supremacists? He did criticize Olbermann on The Factor once before, but what's up with all the violence?
Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera were livid about the situation in NOLA as they appeared on H&C. When Hannity tried his usual spin job and said "let's get this in perspective," Smith chopped him off at the knees and started yelling at him saying, "This is perspective!" It was shocking.
Geraldo who I'm no fan of was crying, holding a little child up to demonstrate the extremely inhumane conditions these people are forced to live under. Forced is the right word because they are locked in the dome by our government and can't leave. Troops are guarding the bridge.
This goes beyond political lines and it's as sad a situation as I've seen. Let's see all the happy politicians slap themselves on their backs after viewing this segment.
Digby has more: This was some amazing TV. Kudos to Shep Smith and Geraldo for not letting O'Reilly and Hannity spin their GOP "resolve" apologia bullshit. I'm fairly shocked....read on
Talk Left: I've never seen anything as harrowing as Fox News' Geraldo Rivera and Shepard Smith on Hannity and Colmes. While Aaron Brown on CNN said we have "turned the corner" on CNN, it's clearly not the truth....read on
