Sen Ron Johnson has stated for years that he doesn't want to cut Social Security, but he wants to "save" it. Then he immediately turns around and proves himself a liar. Well, this may come as a surprise, but he just did it again.

At a hearing about keeping Social Security solvent, RoJo spent his time arguing against the best way to save it - raising the tax cap.

First of all, that's the golden goose. It's those people that take that money, they don't put it in a mattress. They invest it in businesses and grow the economy, which I would argue is the number one component of a solution for all these problems, particularly Social Security. We have to grow our economy. So let's not do anything that harms economic growth. Massive tax increases, taking off the cap, first of all, violates the premise of Social Security, right? Because now, all of a sudden, for $1 those individuals pay into the Social Security system, or they're going to get even a penny?

I have no idea where RoJo gets the idea that making everyone share the burden violates the premise of Social Security, and he doesn't explain his wild accusation.

But as for raising the tax cap, it would do the economy exponentially better than having a millionaire "investing" another tax cut into their fourteenth yacht. Raising the tax cap would ensure seniors would get their full payments, which they would use to buy food and medicine, pay for their utilities, Y'know, the sort of things that actually keep the economy moving instead of growing stagnant.

Senator Ron Johnson says that raising the tax cap would "violate" the premise of Social Security and hurt the economy.

Wrong. Making sure everyone gets their full benefits HELPS local economies because seniors will have money to spend on food, gas, housing, utilities and clothing.
