Trump Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent attacked over half the voting population by claiming Democratic voters who support our social safety nets are overeducated, underachieving, under-earning, and jealous of those who want to go and work every day.
This is absurd.
Bessent was speaking to the ludicrous Larry Kudlow, who always paints Trump economic policies as extraordinary, even when the country is burning down because of them.
Kudlow actually said the facts back up Trump.
Really, he did.
KUDLOW: My point here is, with all this talk about socialism, I don't know where it comes from.
We have a prosperous, free enterprise economy. We go into the elections, it's going to go beyond the elections.
These are such important changes, and it works.
The point is, the theory is no good if the facts don't back it up. What I'm saying is the facts do back it up.
Only the very wealthy are doing well under the Trump administration, and that's what Kudlow is pointing to and cares about.
The 90% of the country that are suffering under the insane tariffs, war, and federal cuts to healthcare can go to hell.
Socialist programs like Social Security and Medicare have excelled in the US, but don't mention that to Larry.
The verbose and monotone Bessent hates any Democratic voter, painting them as "Welfare Queens" who refuse to believe in his nonsensical economics.
He agreed with wrong-way Kudlow.
"When you talk about socialism here in the U.S., when we look at the demographic of those voters, they are overeducated and under-earning, so these are underachievers who are jealous of those who want to go and work every day," Bessent said.
Wow, just wow.
Wanting a higher minimum wage, universal healthcare, and overturning Citizens United doesn't sound like lazy, no-good people to me.
Bessent is a disgrace.
