OK - where to start?
First, the only way to destroy Iran's entire nuclear program, which is scattered across the country, would be not just to bomb once, but maintain a campaign of bombing to prevent the program from re-building. This would take years. And this would NOT be like bombing Iraq.
It would also give Iran legitimacy to develop a nuclear weapons program, and give the opportunity for Russia to sell Iran new weapons systems - fighters, AAA, etc.
It could also provoke a military response from Russia once radioactive debris from bombing nuclear reactors starts drifting across the border.
If the Straits of Hormuz are closed (easily accomplished by sinking ships) that would cut off 20% of the world's oil importation. Think other countries are going to thank the US for that?
So see direct military ground intervention as an option. The Iranian army has over 545,000 regular troops and over 1.8 million reservists along with over 2000 tanks and SP artillery. So much for boots on the ground.
Here's another factor: In the days since the encounter with five Iranian patrol boats in the Strait of Hormuz, American officers have acknowledged that they have been studying anew the lessons from a startling simulation conducted in August 2002. In that war game, the Blue Team navy, representing the United States, lost 16 major warships -- an aircraft carrier, cruisers and amphibious vessels -- when they were sunk to the bottom of the Persian Gulf in an attack that included swarming tactics by enemy speedboats.
"The sheer numbers involved overloaded their ability, both mentally and electronically, to handle the attack," said Lt. Gen. Paul K. Van Riper, a retired Marine Corps officer who served in the war game as commander of a Red Team force representing an unnamed Persian Gulf military. "The whole thing was over in 5, maybe 10 minutes."
And, of course, there have been studies done on what such a military action might cost - the current estimate is over $2 TRILLION. So, Bill - war tax, anyone? Or are you going to put this on the national credit card like you did with Iraq and wait for the next Democratic president to deal with it, then cry about the debt?
Hell, even Bibi's senior military officers and his last chief of the Mossad thinks military strikes are ridiculous.
Estimates on a military strike against Iran believe that such an action might delay Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons for two years. And give them the incentive to do what they're apparently NOT doing now.
Kristol claimed Giuliani would get the nomination. He claimed Hillary would get the nomination. He claimed the Bush tax cuts would stimulate the economy. He backed Sarah Palin. Has this spit-filled sack of stupid ever been right on anything?

If the Troglodytes ever realize their dream of establishing an American Theocracy, they'll quickly turn on each other and squabble endlessly over which version of Christianity is the "real" one.
