I'm not laughing.Back in 1980, a lot of us were happy that extremist Bircher, Bedtime for Bonzo co-star and one-time Borax 20 Mule Team spokesman Ronald Reagan got the R nomination. Quite aside from the B-movie career and political extremism, Reagan was obviously at least one mule short of a full team. We now know that he had Alzheimer's. Hell, we knew he had Alzheimer's a few weeks into his presidency when he told a reporter that of course ballistic missile could be recalled even after he had given the order to launch nuclear weapons. His cognitive problems only made Reagan more willing to take direction. In the actual administration of the govt after he won, we're lucky he took direction from his advisors who would mostly be considered Communists in today's GOP, and we got policies from those handlers that weren't nearly as disastrous as they could have been. Unfortunately, this cognitive impairment proved to be a huge advantage in the political campaigns that let him win. He could advocate the most heartless policies and retain a sunny disposition. No cognitive dissonance if your cognition has left the building.Gohmert could be the next Reagan. He's got the lack of intelligence it takes to advocate for bundle of resentments that passes for their agenda, and not seem as personally bitter and hate-filled as that agenda. None of their other candidates can manage that -- too smart, too self-aware, too much smirk and not enough smile. Gohmert may be the only one of them cognitively challenged enough to pull off Morning in America in his demeanor while the content is straight "The world is on fire!" Apocalypse.
This time, honest to God, BillO will cover this 5-day war against ISIS with his mighty pen. He will not lie like he did re Falkland war, nuns getting killed, IRA bombings and sucide of JFK assasination related figure.
Can't wait to hear their campaigns: Forced chastity belts for all, mandatory bibles in every room, bring back The Inquisition, workhouses and debtor's prisons...
