Don't be a "YaButt". "Yabutt's" get nothing done. Doers get 'er done.
Glad for your thoughts and posting.I'm a true @$$hat and would have cut directly to the chase. I would have said to her once she started in on the homeless guy on the bench, You've got a lot of money, what with you owning this nice downtown office building, why don't you give him a good paying job so he can earn enough money to live in an apartment and not on a park bench in front of your building? If she tried to BS you, just ask her what Jesus would do for the homeless poor and what was SHE going to do about it.
There have been many sensible gun ownership legislation bills that has never been allowed to enter the floor of congress. I would start with those first.
The problem has multiple levels of problems and all of those need to be addressed. This has run wild without regulation for too long anything introduced now will seem restrictive because there is seriously few if any restrictions.
Ownership requirements should include an inclusive background check for every gun sale - no exceptions. That includes gun shows and private sales. Not that private people would comply but given they get caught they lose their ownership rights it might help.
A national database can be compiled TSA already has a hell of a start.
A full safety course 30-40 hrs that certifies you for that weapon - a gun license may be issued from this but unsure if this is where it should be implemented.
A license for operating a weapon must be obtained.
Insurance on the weapons you own for damage or loss of life you might inflict on someone else it is done for most everything else a person owns why not guns?
1 week or more waiting period for purchase of a gun.
Manufactures must be held accountable for who the are selling these to - not holding them accountable is part of the problem.
Mental health problems need to be addressed. I understand there are concerns about privacy but look into the eyes of the people that were on the delivery end in Aurora or at Sandy Hook and tell them it is more important that these two deranged men deserve privacy for their mental issues above public safety.
These are just a few that I can pinpoint right now there are more I am just tired.
To be truthful right now if we lost all gun rights that would just mean less innocent lives will be taken tomorrow. We already live in a police state that battle was lost along time ago.
No mention at all that some would consider Dr. Milton Freidman a Fascist. A promoter of "Supply Side Corporatism that has never worked anywhere it has been tried. Unless success is defined on how the lesser ended up with less and those with more ended up with far more. Until a revolution came along and they tried to equal things back out.
I just had this discussion with a friend today. The constant drip, drip of the Republican scandal mongering inevitably takes it's toll. Between the Benghazi Hearings and the Email crisis, and despite nothing coming of either investigations, the constant references to the "scandals" in the media make it appear that there must be a there there. I think that unequivocally Hillary's low poll numbers are directly caused by this "drip" campaign.
I do not give Americans the credit to see "those "hearings" as trumped-up nonsense". I think most Americans are plain stupid and susceptible to the propaganda from the right wing noise machine.
