Portions of the report from a special grand jury in Georgia that investigated efforts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 presidential election that he lost to Joe Biden were released on Thursday. Somehow, the former President is taking a victory lap on Truth Social, but he has no reason to.
It was unanimous:
Despite the former President's wild-eyed conspiratorial claims, the special grand jury "unanimously" concluded, after hearing "extensive testimony" from election officials, poll workers, and others, that there was no widespread voter fraud in Georgia in 2020.
Perjury:
Most of the special grand jury members in Georgia recommended that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis consider indicting some witnesses for perjury.
CNN reports that perjury "may have been committed by one or more witnesses testifying before it" according to portions of the report.
None of that is good news for Trump. But he thinks so.
"The long awaited important sections of the Georgia report, which do not even mention President Trump's name, have nothing to do with the President because President Trump did absolutely nothing wrong," he wrote. "The President participated in two perfect phone calls regarding election integrity in Georgia, which he is entitled to do - in fact, as President, it was President Trump's Constitutional duty to ensure election safety, security, and integrity."
"Between the two calls, there were many officials and attorneys on the line, including the Secretary of State of Georgia, and no one objected, even slightly protested, or hung up," he continued. "President Trump will always keep fighting for true and honest elections in America!"
"Thank you to the Special Grand Jury in the Great State of Georgia for your Patriotism & Courage. Total exoneration," he added. "The USA is very proud of you!!!"
How does Lumpy know that the report doesn't mention him if only portions were released? It's literally about him and his efforts to overturn the election. Without him, there would have been no grand jury. And there was no exoneration.
