A man who has been totally disgraced for his past behavior, including ethics violations, as Speaker of the House now is constantly being given a platform to slime and smear any victim of his choosing freely. Nancy Pelosi is his newest target and he's been vicious in his attacks on her.

Newt, a man divorced many times over, just became a Catholic (a faith that frowns upon divorce) and got booted out of his Speaker's job because the American people hated his tactics. Yet he has the nerve to say Pelosi committed some unforgivable sin by saying the CIA lied, and that she should lose her leadership position. Being a Catholic now (I still consider myself one, but not very strict), who is he to point fingers at others when he himself has sinned so much?

He called her a liar among other smears yesterday on ABC radio, and then appeared on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer and went one step further.

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today flatly declared that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be replaced in the wake of her allegation that the CIA lied to her about harsh interrogation techniques.

“She really disqualified herself to be speaker,” Gingrich, R-Ga., told Diane Sawyer on ABC’s “Good Morning America. “I think the Democrats should get a new speaker.”

When Sawyer brought up the fact that in 2008, Republican Sen. Peter Hoekstra similarly declared that the CIA lies to Congress, why didn't Newt demand that he be repudiated also? Newt practices the kind of hypocrisy he knows all too well.

Sawyer: Hoekstra: "We cannot have an intelligence community that covers up what it has been doing and then lies to Congress." That's a Republican saying it. And they're saying, where were you then, you didn't call for him to resign?

Gingrich: Well, I think in that particular argument he's fighting with them over a report he wants about a year and a half ago, but I've had a similar standard of toughness with Republicans on other issues...

The Spocko Audio Files: Listening is believing

melaniemorgan-hb.jpg Poor Melanie Morgan, Brian Sussman and Lee Rogers. They are so misunderstood. Wishing violence on the world isn't so bad, is it? I think it was Hugh "the Cowardly lion" Hewitt who called right wing talk radio "quite responsible." Well listen to this and you tell me.

Sussman asking a caller to prove that he is not a Muslim: "Say Allah is a whore. ... Say that you love eating pig. Morgan on Pelosi: "We've got a bull's-eye painted on her big, wide laughing eyes."

When advertisers actually listen to the hatred emanating from the mouths of these B level talking heads and pull their ads, what do they do? Threaten to sue the blogger who exposed them. Cowards---plain and simple. You're free to say what you like, but sometimes there are consequences Melanie. It's not Spocko's letters that are making the advertisers flee your station, it's your disgusting and vile wingnuttery.

Media Matters has a nice post that explains it all:

Summary: The mainstream media have yet to report on the story of a blogger whose website was shut down after he began spotlighting inflammatory rhetoric common to several talk radio hosts on KSFO, an ABC Radio-owned station in San Francisco...read on

Air America advertiser blacklisted

I know C&L is blocked from a bunch of sites, but this is beyond the pale.

An internal ABC Radio Networks memo obtained by Media Matters for America, originally from a listener to The Peter B. Collins Show, indicates that nearly 100 ABC advertisers insist that their commercials be blacked out on Air America Radio affiliates. According to the memo, the adverstisers insist that "NONE of their commercials air during AIR AMERICA programming." Among the advertisers listed are Bank of America, Exxon Mobil, Federal Express, General Electric, McDonald's, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and the U.S. Navy...read on

The Moderate Voice on the Shiavo Case

If you hear a weird noise tonight, it could be the sound of conservative icons Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan turning over in their graves.

Senator Rick Santorium basically now suggests the judge wasted his time ruling on the Terri Schiavo case since unless he had ruled the way Congress wanted, he was "defying" Congress.

Sanatorium's new argument is that if Congress passes a law, it is automatically correct even if it is a law involving a highly controversial issue seeped in all kinds of ethical, political and legal issues. Read this item for yourself:

"You have judicial tyranny here," Sanatorium told WABC Radio in New York. "Congress passed a law that said that you had to look at this case. He simply thumbed his nose at Congress."

And we all know that Congress and its members who are elected don't tend to pander to get votes while judges always pander to win over constituencies to perpetuate themselves in office. Or, wait...do I have that backwards?...read on
