He Knew
Sidney Blumenthal writes that President Bush knew Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction before the invasion of Iraq. Or, at least, he was briefed on this but chose to disregard the briefing.
On Sept. 18, 2002, CIA director George Tenet briefed President Bush in the Oval Office on top-secret intelligence that Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, according to two former senior CIA officers. Bush dismissed as worthless this information from the Iraqi foreign minister, a member of Saddam’s inner circle, although it turned out to be accurate in every detail. Tenet never brought it up again.
Note in particular (emphasis added):
Nor was the intelligence included in the National Intelligence Estimate of October 2002, which stated categorically that Iraq possessed WMD. No one in Congress was aware of the secret intelligence that Saddam had no WMD as the House of Representatives and the Senate voted, a week after the submission of the NIE, on the Authorization for Use of Military Force in Iraq. The information, moreover, was not circulated within the CIA among those agents involved in operations to prove whether Saddam had WMD. …

It's a crime to mislead congress plain and simple. Whether Bush agreed with this intelligence or not, he had an obligation to disclose it to congress.
If they don't impeach now this country is lost
IMPEACH NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big surprise.
Yeah, AND...?! Whatever. I'm going out to drown my sorrows in some chocolate.
Do I hear the faint cluck cluck of the chickens coming home to roost?
who's a bigger joke right now? the white house or the people that follow?
W no longer fears the power of Congress, and his rhetoric suggests he is contemptuous of it. He is brimming with self-assurance that he can break any Democratic attempt to impose deadlines for troop withdrawal and force Congress to cough up all the funds he demands.
IMPEACH the scheming little punk! He and the Neocons all have blood on their hands ... and for what?
This should be the lead story on every news program tonight and tomorrow and for the next several days. Senators who voted for the war should be raising hell. Hell, we should be raising hell.
If we recall, the weapons inspectors were saying the same thing. They found nothing. Before that could sink into the public's mind, bush hurried and started this war. That's why our troops weren't equipped as they should have been, because it was all hurried. Remember we were told they had to go at the time they did was because the summers in Iraq were too hot for our soldiers to fight there. We were gonna be in and out in like six weeks or something.
Brownback is on the senate floor right now laying out his reasons why Iran is our greatest threat at this time. Does he even have a freakin' clue?
What's it going to take for people in this country to demonstrate in massive numbers and show congress that we've had enough?
Hey Pelosi! Is impeachment on the fucking table yet????????
Mike Huckabee spoke, in last night's GOP debate, of "savin' face".
Seems to me it's about "savin' ass". And not the American people's ass, either. Just certain Americans. Like...Republicans.
He is guilty of lying by omission. That should count for something, especially when it causes what his lies have cost.
The target is Iran - Israel is the empire's foward base in the middle east - bases on either side of Iran and then strike Iran.
Iran's sin is threatening to destroy dollar hegenomy . . . . cut us out of the oil biz. We over-threw their gov in the 50's because they wanted a bigger cut of BP's profits.
Its absolutely insane but in case you haven't noticed . . . these neocons are bonkers . . . they are the proverbial "nut jobs".
Daddy Bush coined the phrase "the new world order" . . .many of us get pasted with the "wacko" label if we invoke it . . . they've removed the word "communist" from "communist china"
What do you call it when mulitple people work together to commit a crime?
How many more smoking guns do we need?
IMPEACH NOW.
Chocolate-covered Strawberry Sorrows... Mmmm...
Will this be KO's lead story tonight?
But...we know this for a long time. We know he is a liar. Another surprise?
Chimp in that 2002 meeting --

stupid monkey!
Where are all the letters to Congress now? Are they going out? I've written my representatives for years, especially regarding this administration's wicked, wicked ways. Write to Congress, damn you! Demand they enforce the War Crimes Act against the real criminals: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld!
http://www.dodig.mil/fo/foia/err.htm Tillman
As far as impeachment, there's your smoking gun AND mushroom cloud. Pretty easy to explain this as a high crime to the public. Phone calls and emails, start kicking Pelosi, Reid, Emmanual, and Dean in the head.
Let's make some noise!
"Bush dismissed as worthless this information from the Iraqi foreign minister, a member of Saddam’s inner circle..."
But he listened to a convicted criminal like Chalabi.
E Ryno @ 14:
I could call it a conspiracy, but in good old USa, it's Business as Usual.
Before Powell went to the UN, the IAEA had reported the whole Niger nuke thing was bogus. UN inspectors were not allowed to finish their work. The claims about Al Qaeda and Hussein widely repudiated. One thing we all know in hindsight, however, is that none of the administration pushing for this invasion knew one scintilla about the nature of Iraq or its history. To sum up in recent terms was: lost stunningly in an eight year war with Iran despite US support; clobbered back to the stone age in first gulf war; undergone a decade of the most stringent economic sanctions of any nation in history for a decade. Tougher than Granada no doubt.
Defrauding the US Government or conspiracy to commit fraud is a felony and therefore an impeachable offense.
Bush, Gonzales and Cheney have all admitted they violated FISA. That is a felony with a $10,000 fine and up to 5 years in prison per offense.
Now add this in and you have the administration again comitting a felony of defrauding and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
If Pelosi won't impeach, then she is obstructing justice and aiding and abetting felonies. She should damned well be impeached herself.
The woman took an oath, as did all of congress to protect and uphold the US Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Standing before Pelosi is the biggest enemy of the Constitution the US has ever seen yet she does nothing.
IMPEACH PELOSI
IMPEACH BUSH
IMPEACH CHENEY
IMPEACH GONZALES ( yes you can still impeach even if they resign )
the fact is that all the writers keep trying to present bush as a thinking man while he is not. he is a sociopath with no concern for the ramifications for any of his actions. he is malleable to those around him who direct him while leaving him with the impression that he is in charge or that something is actually his idea.
boosh has been briefed, told, informed, updated, advised, etc. about just about every topic that has come up during his presidency and he has made sociopathic choices. No 'reasonable man' would make the decisions boosh has made. boosh is NOT a reasonable man. boosh is a sociopath. boosh has made the decisions he made because of what he is.
plain and simple.
It took about 10,000 activists to March to the White house yelling . . .
"Fu*k" You Nixon" over and over right outside the White House before his advisor's finally suggested Dick might want to consider resigning for the benefit of the U.S.
Again, it's the only language these cons understand.
His denial and dedication to he and his henchmen’s crusade cost 100’s of thousands of lives and billions of dollars, yet he walks unscathed, talking about making money on the lecture circuit after he leaves office after two FULL terms. Congress doesn’t have the balls to impeach.
If this is true... then impeachment is only the beginning of what should be done with Mr. Bush. Any prosecutors out there know the appropriate charge for this? First Degree Murder? Conspiracy to commit murder?
Would it be possible to investigate the death of a few hundred Iraqi's and trace the deaths back to a order of Bush's? A few hundred charges of murder, conspiracy or manslaughter should put him away for a while and teach any future Bush's a lesson.
SHOCKING!!!!
Of course he didn't. There was a Medal of Freedom at stake.
pissed off patricia @ 22:
Bush heard what he wanted to hear and dismissed the rest. Unless Bush is brought to justice we are going to see the sequel in Iran.
They all knew, don't let them fool you. Anybody who followed the issue with more than a passing curiosity knew that the WMDs were an excuse. Some people may have honestly thought that Saddam had some leftover nerve gas in a forgotten warehouse somewhere, but nobody seriously thought that Saddam had weapons that were any threat to America.
The director of Saddam's weapons program defected to the US (General Hussein Kamel) and told us that Saddam had no WMDs anymore and explained exactly how they had gone about getting rid of them. It even hit the mainstream media for a bit -- going as far as Time magazine. (If they didn't bother to read the NIE, you would think that they could have at least read TIME.) The guy's credibility was enhanced when Saddam "forgave" him, invited him back to Iraq, and then shot him.
The Democrats were in a bind because the (by then) phony WMD excuse had been used to keep the sanctions alive and to justify our unilaterally-declared (not UN supported) "no fly" zones. If it came out that Saddam had not actually been defying the United Nations, then the sanctions that killed so many would have been exposed as a tragic fraud.
The WMD excuse was about the fourth or fifth try for the Bush administration on Iraq. I can't recall them all, but it was interesting to hear a Republican Senator (who still supported the war at that time) talk on NPR about the White House efforts to propagandize it.
In the end, the politicos knew that the WMDs were a fraud, but decided that Saddam was such a jerk that it didn't matter. I don't know what they thought about the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians who were under the thousands of tons of munitions that we dropped.
I think you guys are starting to catch on. EVERYONE KNEW there were no WMDs in Iraq since the first gulf war. The Neocons wrote about having a 'new pearl harbor', wrote about how to sell a war with 'WMD and terrrorist ties in Iraq and Iran', and about putting permanent strategic bases in the Middle East. Just read the 'Project for a new American Century' to see the whole plan. http://www.newamericancentury.org/
WAKE THE FUCK UP. Everything from Bush becoming President, to 911, to the phony 'war on terror' was planned and carried out by the Christian Fascists that have taken over the US government. Make no mistake stabilization and removing a threat from Iraq and Iran are NOT the goal. Permanent bases, permanent control of the resources, a permanent 'war on terror' AND permanent loss of our civil liberties at home IS the goal.
You also need to realize that the Democrats are at a minimum spineless fascist sympathizers or at worst coconspirators, like Pelosi, Clintons, etc. Any member of Congress that thinks Bush, Cheney and others should not be Impeached, at least (I think they should be tried for treason), can NOT be trusted and should be thrown out of office.
Ron Paul WON the debates again!!!
Keep them articles coming C&L and keep informing us of the self proclaimed 'war president'. Cannot get this info from Fixed Noise, I wonder why...
Duh. If there had been any evidence of weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. could have directed the weapons inspectors to them to give our claim some credibility. Because that never happened, I knew it was a lie and I knew George knew it was a lie.
E Ryno @ 14:
Exactly they are pissed Iran won't play like the Shah and sell us all the oil we need dirt freaking cheap to keep our giant personal trucks happily purring along. When Osama suggested $500 a barrel would be fair that was the last straw for our Commander in Chief Dick Cheney and his buds.
If I were one of the Senators who voted for this war and I discovered this new information I would share it with my voters back home so I could remove myself from the political hot seat.
He knew? Who woulda thunk?
If this is true, then it's prima facie evidence for immediate and unequivocal "impeachment proceedings". Let the impeachment roll!
sam @ 33:
Many people wondered if that U.N. spectacle with Powell in the main spotlight was some kind of wacko comedy special.
This man knows what he is talking about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQnKeRsdMns&eurl=
I would like to see Kucinich as President. Forget Prettyboy Edwards, AsItWere Clinton, Popular Barack et al... Look at the date...did anyone else speak out?
I'm sure that he would be the only one of all the presidential candidates to bring justice and honor back to our system...I look forward to the noose around Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld's necks.
baby jesus notices that Patricia is especially Pissed Off
baby jesus is pissed that more little humans aren't pissed off
Funny how few people noticed the big U.S. military buildup heading to Iraq when everyones focus was on Gittin' Laden Dead or Alive at Tora Bora.
I noticed it.
fellas, i have no doubts that they all knew they were twisting the reality, and i have no problem saying that Bush should be impeached and imprisoned. but this "revelation" can't be used as evidence that "they knew there were no WMD".
seriously, that's a pretty retarded stretch. it would be accurate to simply say, "here is an example of opposing WMD evidence that the administration not only ignored, but hid from the rest of the government, including the Congress, which is supposed to make the decision to go to war. this can be considered the 'smoking gun' in terms of whether or not the administration was cherry-picking intel to support their case for war."
but maybe "HE KNEW!!" is the correct way to politicize this new information. what do i know?
Ron Paul '08 baby!
I remember watching Powell at the UN that day and at one point of his presentation I started to laugh. It was a recording supposed to be two Iraqis talking about moving something. Then there were the strange aerial shots. It really was a pitiful presentation.
I also remember watching the weapon inspectors reports and then hearing the press ask Ari if the president watched the reports. Ari always gave some excuse why the president didn't watch them.
So -- it turns out NOT everyone had the same information. Can we finally put a nail in that GOP talking point/canard?
This is what he knew --
http://static.seekingalpha.com/wp-content/seekingalpha/images/thumb-OilP...
He, his family and his closest friends are oilman.
men... oilmen duh!
"But he listened to a convicted criminal like Chalabi."
And let's not forget that he was also on the Iranian payroll the whole time.
#32 "In the end, the politicos knew that the WMDs were a fraud, but decided that Saddam was such a jerk that it didn’t matter. I don’t know what they thought about the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians who were under the thousands of tons of munitions that we dropped."
Selfish cold hearted cowardly conservatives don't think about that. It's not their blood or the blood of their children being spilled. So long as they can get the oil and the no bid government contracts for Halliburton it doesn't matter, those killed are just collateral damage. These are ruthless killers we are talking, out of the same mold as Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden. What's worse they are operating with immunity within our borders, using our military and our tax dollars for their war-for-profit criminal exercises while Nancy "Impeach is off the table" Pelosi and the spineless Democratic controlled congress are afraid to do what they were elected to do which is hold this criminal regime in check and accountable.
From the full article:
Most of the Uh-mare-uh-kin sheeple haven't figured it out, either.
Baby jesus, I've been pissed off for so long I hardly remember when I wasn't. I think it began with the 2000 election and has grown stronger every day. I bet even with your power I won't be forgiven.
Crap! That chart lost it's heading -- that is a historical chart on the price of a barrel of oil
Which confirms the fact that available intel was cherry picked to support their position, not to make right choices.
This exposes Bush as lazy and immature. The need to flex US muscle by smashing something is easier(initially) than planning a methodical, successful campaign against al qaeda.
So rather than completing the good mission in Afghanistan, nurturing the cooperation of a very willing host of countries worldwide, redoubling efforts to find a peace accord for Palestine, balancing the US relationship with Israel so as to not alienate the entire arab world, actually work in a bipartisan way with an already cooperative democratic party, well lets just say he wouldn't be worrying about his legacy.
If you think I'm being harsh, then go back and look at the tape of bush sitting in the school after being told the US was under attack. That is the face of a coward, a boy not up to the task ahead of him.
If bush was shown the info saying there were no wmd, does that mean cheney saw it too?
baby jesus is pissed too, sometimes too pissed to even deal with the little rock and the
little humans that won't play nice in the sand box
Just to clarify a point emphasized above stating: No one in Congress was aware of the secret intelligence that Saddam had no WMD as the House of Representatives and the Senate voted. There was however a few in Congress who strongly questioned the National Intelligence Estimate of October 2002 (and ACTUALLY READ IT unlike many in the Senate and Congress...Edwards, Clinton, Dodd, etc. etc.) and one these brave few was...(wait for it)...Dennis Kucinich! In fact he immediately attempeted to block this upcoming vote by proposing that the bill be sent back to committee for further review. Read the following:
H.J. Res. 114. Resolution Authorizing the Use of Force in Iraq/
Vote to Recommit to Committee a Bill to Allow an Unprovoked U.S. Attack Against Iraq.
House Roll Call 454 Oct 10, 2002
In the House, opponents of legislation are provided the right to vote on recommitting the bill to committee with instructions to change the measure. During House debate on a use-of-force resolution which would grant congressional approval for the president to initiate a war in Iraq, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) offered a motion to recommit the bill with instructions that would have required the president-prior to any military operations-to submit to Congress an estimate of the impact of the war on the U.S. economy, Iraqi citizens, and international stability. In the view of Progressives, the use of force should be the option of last resort and they supported the Kucinich motion as a way to insure that the costs of the war were adequately considered prior to military action. The motion to recommit the use-of-force resolution to committee was defeated on a 101-325 vote.
IMPEACH THE BASTARDS!!!
Kucinich '08!!
It's about time for baby jesus to turn my water into a martini or two again. My day has sucked in so many ways today and all this political criminal shit doesn't help. My day began by walking barefoot into the dark bathroom and stepping squarely upon a giant hairball happily produced by my cat. It's been down hill from there.
I don't get what the fuss is about. Don't you people realize that there are prisoners in the Philippines who like to dance to Thriller?
IMPEACH. NOW.
NEVER. HAPPEN.
When are you going to wake up, Nancy? Impeach for God's sake!!!
To see the whole picture you need to step back pretty far. There are lies nested within lies to such an extent that it is nearly impossible to see the truth -- especially if you only rely upon US media. (Sadly, foreign media is falling pretty fast.)
Question #1 to ask is why would Saddam having WMDs have mattered at all? Any nation with a military research program has weapons of mass destruction. That is what the military is all about.
Question #2 to ask is why did we create the category "WMD" in the first place? It was simply so that we could pretend that Iraq was nuclear threat. You can create poison gas out of houshold chemicals, so "of course" Iraq has WMDs.
Question #3 to ask is about Iraq's nuclear program -- which turns out to have been a civilian reactor. Osriak was built by the French, who had no interest in Iraq becoming a nuclear power. Israel (for reasons beyond this commentary) bombed the hell out of the place.
Question #4 to ask is "why would Saddam still have WMDs?" His country was being screwed six ways from sunday by the sanctions, and if UNIFIL had found evidence of continued WMD production he would have been screwed twelve ways. The fradulent "oil for food" program would have been stopped, and even more people would have starved.
Question #5 to ask is what happened to the $9 billion in remaining Oil for Food funds once they were transferred to a bank in New York by the US government. This is just a bonus question because it pisses me off. The real Oil for Food scandal had nothing to do with the United Nations.
Question #6 to ask is what the hell the United States really wanted in the Iraq war. Long answer, my theory after watching this thing grow for a decade is that it is to protect oil prices. It ain't about cheap oil -- it is about protecting the Saudis from competition. They are getting exactly what they want. (There is some decent evidence for this theory but I ramble.) WMDs play into it -- with support for the sanctions weakening a 'clean' report would have left the US in a difficult position. Already various European countries and China were negotiating with Saddam over who gets the oil when the sanctions ended.
Question #7 to ask is why the US public has such an incredibly different view of the Iraq war than the rest of the world -- even before the war started. WTF is up with our media? (Rhetorical question.)
58 P-O-P:
Hey, at least your cat upchucked the hairball! Mine keeps heaving, and nada. Yes, I've fed him the gooey stuff. Maybe tonite it'll work...
Hang in there!
It is obvious that there were never any WMD. Yet, about 1/3 of the American people still believe there were WMD and that Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks, another falsehood. Tens of millions of American have blocks of solid bone where other people have brains. No amount of factual evidence or reasoned argument will penetrate the mass.
John Samsonite @ 44:
A few years ago there was a pharmaceutical company that wanted to market a new painkiller. The company made claims that the drug was less addictive than other painkillers, that the users of the drug were less likely to suffer withdrawal symtoms than if they used the other drugs.
However, the company's own research showed that the drug was as addictive as other drugs and the withdrawal symptoms were the same as the rivals, also. No matter to the company, though. They simply withheld the pertinent research.
The company was Purdue Frederick Co.. The drug is OxyContin. This past May the company plead guilty to felony misbranding charges, three of its officers plead to misdemeanor misbranding charges. The company was fined $600 million, the three officers a combined $34.5 million.
" "Nearly six years and longer ago, some employees made, or told other employees to make, certain statements about OxyContin to some healthcare professionals that were inconsistent with the FDA-approved prescribing information for OxyContin and the express warnings it contained about risks associated with the medicine," Purdue Pharma said. "We accept responsibility for those past misstatements and regret that they were made."
http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSWBT00695020070510?src=0510...
Now why am I brigin' this specific case up?
My reasons are two-fold. First, the obvious comparison to
Bushco and its attempt to "misbrand" its case for war with Iraq.
My other reason is to point out that if Ron Paul had his way, Purdue Frederick and its officers would have skated away with it $634 million- because, I'm afraid, the only law concerning consumer protection would be Caveat Emptor.
I do not doubt the veracity of Blumenthal's sources. What bothers me is the cover his report extends those congressional democrats who voted to permit Bush to unilaterally declare war whenever he damn well saw fit. Specifically, the cover it provides the wife of Blumenthal's ex-boss.
He fails to mention those democrats who wisely opposed the administration reckless gambit. He ignores altogether their reasons for refusing to be stampeded by those sinister people.
And he leaves open this vital question: Why does Hillary Clinton continue remain unapologetic about her unwavering support for it all? Unwavering, that is, until the tide turned, and the polls she uses to gauge her presidential ambitions went south?
She was treacherously deceived upon a matter of war and peace (as has been evident for years). Why does she continue to deny it? More to the point, why isn't she furious about it?
My best guess- my belief- is that she wasn't deceived at all.
I knew better than to trust to the judgement of Bush and Cheney. Many scores of millions in this country and around the world did as well. As already mentioned, a very substantial amount of her congressional colleagues did, too. She did know better, but gambled, her ambition mightier than her judgment. She's gambling still.
Now on to Iran.
Is there any way that you could square this with your below posting, "Bush Believed That There Were WMDs in Iraq Through 2006".
I"m trying to figure out at what point Bush lost his mind, and went from knowing it to believing his own lie. Or perhaps he never actually "knew." He refused once again to let facts being explained to him (undoubtedly in bullet-point) penetrate his smarmy shell.
Wait a minute. This means, if combined with other reports, that Bush knew (or rather, should have known) that Iraq had no WMD, but despite that, Bush as late as 2006 believed that Iraq had WMD?!? If both these accounts are accurate, Bush isn't just a slothful president, he's even more deeply delusional than anyone's suspected. I mean, Reagan could at least blame Alzheimer's. If both reports are accurate, Bush is dangerously deranged.
Cythraul @ 61:
But it should.
However, seein' as the Senate can't round up the 60 votes needed to close debate on controversial legislature, there's no way in hell that 67 would vote to convict.
And without those votes any procedins would be nothin' but a very expensive fishin' expedition to Death Valley.
whether he knew or not is largely immaterial. it was his responsibility to know and to be briefed. rather, he chose to either be ignorant of the facts or he chose to act in spite of them. consequently, because of this thousands of Iraq's have perished, over 3000 of our soldiers have died fighting "his" war, and our country financially has gone in the tubes. Is there not a case for impeachment and then incarceration. monica where are you when we need you. it's for your country.
I”m trying to figure out at what point Bush lost his mind
Tough to say, it probably died from atrophy, like a muscle you don't use?
I'm thinking, 1989, but, it could have been earlier?
Amazing it's taken this long to confront reality. When will we discuss these issues with Iran, in 2012?
Bush doesn't actually believe anything, other than that he is always right. Facts don't matter to that type of personality. Crude example, but talking to someone like him about truth is like discussing the difference between aquamarine and navy blue to a non-sighted person.
I've been saying that since the start of all this started.
Son left today for Iraq for the next 451 days.
Bush just BLOWS the big one if you ask me.
I don't get this.
While he certainly is callous, evil, and an utter sociopath, think about something.
He is set. For life.
He will make gobs of money. Forever. He will never ever go to prison or face any real consequences for anything he has done. His children will cakewalk into riches.
Sure, we should chastise and call him out for what he is, but face it, the world as it exists today creates such people. Bush has been, is being, and will continue to be unbelievably rewarded for every extremely destructive and horrible decision and act.
And we won't change that.
No, I'm not saying let him off the hook for what he is.
But also, look at WHY he is.

More interesting Bush behavior. It is interesting that the reporter brings up Johnson -- who was pretty strange. The reporters are trying to tell us something, but you have to look pretty hard. You mean the President lied to congress and the people of this country?
Shocking, I tell you shocking!
The next thing I am going to hear is that Bush and Cheney should be impeached.
One can hope.
& whos gonna tell the american people? kyra phillips?
Do you think the Preznit goes online and reads this stuff....I hope so......boo fuckin hoo
FrustratedAsHell @ 1:
If they moved to impeach it could help prevent this from happening again.
But the democrats are not sure they wouldn't want to be able to mislead us and lie to us when they
hold the reins - so they don't want to rock the boat.
pissed off patricia @ 38:
They knew too. They all friggin' knew.
I've known this since 2004, nothing new!
To quote whoever said it first, will someone give Bush a blow-job so we can impeach him already?
So, he had the information, but he kept it out of the NIE that was given to congress. That sounds like a high crime.
So, when Bush said that John Kerry and all Democrats in congress had the "same intelligence we did" when they voted to authorize the use of force against Iraq, he lied.
Bush lied to congress and directly lied to the American people. Yet, through it all the Reich Wing Trash will support him. In fact, they will continue to close their eyes and say, "on 9/11 Saddam Hussein attacked us and he had WMD." Hapless Repug Sheep.
Tenet is a motherfucker.
He swore an oath to the constitution and then fell on his sword for this imbecile and his puppetmasters.
People will soon forget the name Benedict Arnold, Tenet let stand dunk stand in media, but conspired to deny essential information to congress.
ONLY CONGRESS SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE WAR.
Tenet should be in jail like yesterday.

but this information is never gonna make it out to the american people, so when we refer to it as fact, we'll just be labeled "conspiracy theorists".
eh, who cares? Apathy rules.
Of course he bloody well knew !! He just didn't give a damn and they were going to invade Iraq no matter what.
I've said it dozens of times and will no doubt say it many more times that ... There was nothing wrong with the intelligence given to the government. They were going to invade Iraq regardless of what anyone said.
They had a plan and they were going to do it no matter what.
As soon as I first heard the term "Pre-Emptive Strike" I knew the US was going to invade Iraq.
I knew when Colin Powell gave his pathetic speech to the UN (and it really was pathetic) that the US was going to invade Iraq.
It was screamingly obvious to anyone with a modicum of common sense that the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield cabal were going to invade Iraq no matter what.
Forget the Intel. reports.
Forget the United Nations procedures.
Forget International Law.
Forget everything else.
These Three scumbags, along with their scheming ideologue mates were going to invade Iraq regardless of what anyone said or did.
This is their Heroin. This was their Lottery win. This was their big payday, their armed robbery of the century.
This was going to make them filthy fucking rich and to hell with anyone who tried to stop them.
...and you only have to look at what they did to the Wilsons for daring to open their mouths. These $%^s blatently commited Treason.
It was because they knew how much money they could make out of such a venture.
It was as simple as ABC. Scream "Terrorist" scream WMDs and the public will fall into line.
Steal the oil, rebuild the wrecked nation and make a lot of money.
Oh, NOW you tell me....
You seriously believe that save for this one report, no-one had any info about the WMDs? This is the report, that could have changed the course of history? Wake up.
Given a little intelligence, and a little knowledge about the region, history, and Chemical, Biological and Nuclear weapons, EVERY person capable of critical thinking knew there were no such weapons in Iraq BEFORE the invasion. Even I knew, and I don't have the CIA to debrief me. Who raised their voice when it came to the WMDs? That all the knowledge and equipment came from the West? Who raised their voice when it came to the crimes of Saddam? That he committed most of them while he was an American puppet fighting a war against Iran? Who raised their voice about Bin Laden? Who asked why he was a "freedom fighter" of the Reagen administration, who received intel, weapons and training from the US in the '80s? These monsters were created by the Western powers, and now it's all forgotten. Indeed you are manipulating the past better than the Communist powers ever hoped to do so.
For this war everybody who closed their eyes are responsible, democrats and republicans alike. This report was only one in a million reports alike. It is your responsibility that you let yourselves beguiled. There should have been uproar about the lies, and yet there was only complicit silence. You only have yourselves to blame.

Congress shouldn't be let off the hook for the mess Bush has made. They didn't ask the obvious questions or even read the legislation they passed giving him the go ahead to enter Iraq. Just like they don't seem to read a lot of the legislation they pass. Ignorance is not an excuse.
And still, the SPINELESS DEMOCRATS refuse to impeach. They make my stomach turn, even more than the repubs do.

How can anyone ever have thought that Bush?Cheney didn't know? Remember all the swaggering threats by Bush/Cheney leading up to the invasion. Bush not only announced that he would invade, he also gave the date and time that he would invade. Is this the behavior of a leader who thinks that a mad man who is an imminent danger to the US, who wants to attack the US, and has weapons of mass destruction as a means to do so. If Sadam had the weapons, he WOULD have attacked first. And Bush and Cheney (and every other sane person over the age of two) knew it.
Bush and Cheney dismissed the information not because they didn't believe it, but because it just didn't matter to them. Invading Iraq was never about WMDs.
