Please reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and repeal the Telecommunications Act of 1996

Will Dems finally grow a spine? Shrub and Petty failed to brainwash the masses. An appeals court upheld
the Md. gay marriage ban. On the positive, we're making some progress on removing landmines.

California citizens are trying to keep Blackwater out of their state where they want to open a new training center. They already have a 7,000 acre facility in North Carolina and another large facility outside of Chicago. Blackwater answers to no one, not in Iraq and not even here. More information is available at couragecampaign.org.

I want to know why on earth this country has terrorist training camps and nobody is doing anything about it? Because it is sanctioned by Bush and Cheney makes it OK? Every one of us should be outraged. It should be all over the news. What the hell is the difference between a Blackwater training camp and a Al Queda training camp? Why are our tax dollars being used to train terrorists?

Why should the NFL commissioner care about the on-air comments of the hosts of the official radio station of the Raiders? Because they are tainting your brand with their horrific, cruel and crude comments. They are insulting the fans of another franchise and, to quote from the Fan Code of Conduct from another NFL franchisee, "Harassment of visiting team fans will be considered unruly behavior and grounds for ejection." Why should the hosts of the Raider flagship station be held to a LOWER standard than a fan attending an NFL football game?

Okay, I agree that no NFL team should ba affiliated with this type of media, but if you had to pick one team that would be, I can only surmise that the logical choice would be the Rayyyyyyduhhhh's

Apologies to all Raiders fans, but looking at their crowds, it almost seems as if many there would appreciate this notoriety.

eh...

If e.g. Howard Stern said this stuff I'd think it was funny.

unbelievable.....never mind the govt said fuck you now they have to here it on the radio...wtf

Just what we need; another smug, detatched, disdainful human being hater on the airwaves.

I know that most people here are not exactly fans of Christopher Hitchens, but this interview is worth a listen. A show called the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe discusses the problems in journalism and media today.

FTA My good friends in New Orleans and Louisiana tell me they feel the rest of the country have forgotten them, but some of us haven't.

Worse, not only not forgotten, companies like Grey Line are having Katrina disaster tours: http://www.graylineneworleans.com/katrina.shtml

Gey Line

An eyewitness account of the events surrounding the most devastating natural - and man-made - disaster on American soil!
Learn the history of the original city, the French Quarter, and why it was built at this particular location along the Mississippi River.

We'll drive past an actual levee that "breached" and see the resulting devastation that displaced hundreds of thousands of U.S. residents.

The direct connection between America 's disappearing coastal wetlands, oil & gas pipelines, levee protection and hurricane destruction will be explained.

Your tour guide will give a "local's" chronology of events leading up to Hurricane Katrina and the days immediately following the disaster.

This tour will travel through neighborhoods such as Lakeview, Gentilly, New Orleans East, and the Ninth Ward. We will also ride past the colorful "Musicians' Village" homes being constructed by Habitat for Humanity in the upper Ninth Ward.

You'll be amazed at the volume and variety of products "offloaded" in the multimodal port of New Orleans , the second largest port in the country, and then distributed to your hometown.

Did you know that 30% of the seafood (fish, crabs, shrimp, oysters, and crawfish) harvested in the lower 48 states comes from the coastal wetlands in South Louisiana?

After this tour, you'll have a better understanding of events pre and post Katrina and the "Rebirth of New Orleans"!

Souvenir Hurricane Katrina book available for purchase at departure point!

yeah go figure...that wouldn't be in Hunters or Doolittles zone would it?

It is interesting that "liberal" San Francisco hosts some of the vilest conservative chat.

Hunter for certain - http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20070414-9999-1m14black.html. Rep. Bob Filner (D) sounds like a good contact for more info. I think he made some great comments on the lack of support for veterans.

mudshark @ 16:

That's just not true. They have been stealing the elections to make that LOOK true, but the demographic of the majority Latino community is DEMOCRATIC.

Riverside, SJC, and such, those are R strongholds. Outside those areas, it's fair game.

Thing Fish @ 19:

It WAS in Hunter's district, but it's now in Filner's, and he is solidly opposed to it.

Blackwater's main support is the Governator, who offered BW the location (even though it abuts a protected wilderness area -- Senator Boxer has suggested extending the protection to close out this site), and also offered them a $1 M contract to 'help out' during a major earthquake or other disaster.

H'yeah, they can help out by shooting our pets and knocking down old ladies with their Humvees, just like they do in Iraq for sport.

When you use this term 'San Francisco,' you ignore that the rightwing selected KSFO for hate talk -- it was a sports' station for years before that. It came available, was bought, and they installed their rightwing assholes.

Notice that "Buzz" Patterson won't be back to defend KSFO, MAF, or the rest -- he would have to explain his LIE that the No Fly Zones in Iraq were part of the cease fire resolution (NOT).

Ran like a cur with his tail so far up his crotch he looked like French poodle running from a bath. WHAT a coward.

Yes, that's Duck and Cover's district. I think they want to set up there so they'll have anever flowing supply of illegals for target practice. (Doo graft is in the Sacremento area).
And who the hell is surprized at bad behavior from the raiders' fans????????? They are notorious. When they come to San Diego the police send out special squads to try and keep the peace.

1 in 6 congressmen have been arrested for dui in the last year?

Some very funny stats, embarassing to. We have a system where only the worst people make it into power.

Your country is pretty sad..... on one hand people are arrested for protesting the war in Iraq. On the other hand you have radio and TV stations that are allowed to spew absolute garbage.(KSFO and the show 20/20). Can someone please explain to us in Canada what is going on????

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

- 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
- 7 have been arrested for fraud
- 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
- 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
- 3 have done time for assault
- 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
- 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
- 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
- 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
- 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

These radio hosts will be singing a different tune about disaster relief once the INEVITABLE killer quake hits SF.

since the republicans are so recalcitrant about bringing the troops home,

i propose that for every troop that dies from now on in this illegal war,
one member of the gop will have to send one of their children to iraq to live
with the general population of iraq and under the same conditions that the
general population live. in other words, they do not get the protection of
the green zone.

if they are so set in their ways, let them pay and pray with the rest of us.

how do we know that the gop is not getting ready for a coup when the democrats
retake the presidency and congress.

this also smacks of a white aryan establishment. we can not let this happen again.

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.
Our Senators and Congressmen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it. Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society.

They felt they should have a special plan for themselves. Many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan. In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.

For all practical purposes their plan works like this: When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die, except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments.

For example, former Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand), with their wives drawing $275,000.00 during the last years of their lives. This is calculated on an average life span for each.

Their cost for this excellent plan is $00.00. Nada. Zilch. This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan.

The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds--our tax dollars at work! From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into--every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer)--we can expect to get an average $1,000 per month after retirement. Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000. monthly benefits for 68 years and one (l) month to equal Bradley's

Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made. And that change would be to jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us and then watch how fast they would fix it.

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.

How many people can YOU email this to?

Fighting Blackwater sounds like a losing proposition since they are armed to the teeth, recruited from some of the most brutal dictatorships around the planet and are imune from prosecution.

Ksfo used to be a sports talk program at one time. They should considr returning to sports talk. They don't seem to be able to profess their conservative republican ideology like Reagan did.

I heard part of the KSFO broadcast cited by Spocko. Lee Rodgers was oozing disdain and contempt as he was criticizing the "whining" of Katrina's victims. You see, if the Bush administration screws up the hurricane recovery effort and manages to avoid delivering on its promises for a full two years, you're supposed to just give up and stop complaining about it. Rodgers, of course, thinks that the minorities and poor people displaced by Katrina were just lazy bums anyway and he's certain they've just been riding the gravy train ever since. Yeah, nothing but pennies from heaven ever since Bush & FEMA got into gear. Pennies.

Interesting how Blackwater wants to build on the Mexican border. Maybe they want more live fire exercises, with live targets. Is that what they mean by a well regulated militia? It's definitely a terrorist training camp in the making, though maybe not for long if Filner and the rest of us crazy liberals in SD county have our way. All four of us.

Recently read / viewed issues 1-35. Like other cases there was a lot more in the cartoon. Noticed the Youtube version also didn't have Glorie's response to Tommy after her run in with Mr. Gone that was in the comic book (much too dark I'd guess).

The video did hold fairly true to the comic. Also what I like about the Youtube versions is it has the music I recall hearing when it played on MTV. I bought it on tape. They changed the music! And to suckier music. It was like WKRP (and likely for similar 'licensing' issues).

Spent enough time on this. Night all!

They are, of course, NOT immune from prosecution. The crimes they have committed have no statute of limitations, and the entire outfit is going to be busted in a couple of years time. California is NOT going to have a Blackwater base, and we are NOT going to privatize the borders (which is the main reason why BW is in southern San Diego county).

This sounds like every other juvenile, "morning zoo" program (a format, I believe pioneered by Clear Channel). Every other station you had the same two or three giggling, snorting retards laughing at their own pathetic racist, homophobic "jokes". It's one of the reasons I've stopped listening to commercial radio. I just couldn't listen to that shit first thing in the morning. You would think the people of San Francisco would have been able to put a muzzle on KSFO. The fact that they couldn't is a testament to the power of corporate owned media.

The difference is that with most 'morning zoo' formats, the idiocy is an act. With the KSFO bunch, there doesn't seem to be a difference between their on-air and off-air selves.

Such a shame that a man (Sussman) who used to champion adoption on a local station is now a vile, hate-spewing ideologue.

Smug critics of the MoveOn ad like Salon's Joan Walsh love having their cake and eating it too:

Meanwhile, as someone who wasn't crazy about the MoveOn "Betray Us" ad, I'm glad the group continued to swing back at Rudy Giuliani when he glommed onto the issue. I don't think any of the Democrats have made nearly enough of Giuliani's being too busy making lucrative speeches to come to Iraq Study Group meetings. Joan Walsh, Salon, 09.19.2007

How lovely that Ms. Walsh is glad in her moderate non-shrill way. From her front row vantage point, she gets to slam MoveOn and the Dems too. Let's enjoy watching her shovel back more of that cake.

This sounds like a job for Olbermann. A little of his tough love on national TV ought to do the trick.

Did you hear about the disaster where a plane went down in the Amazon with 142 Brazilions on board?

Bush turned to one of his advisors and asked 'How much is a brazilian?'

I saw the clip of the student being arrested for asking Kerry a very straight forward question. Since comments are closed on that thread, this is a good place to add my two cents' worth.

My question if why the rest of the people, including Kerry, sat around like bumps on a log and did nothing. They should have arisen and let the cops know that that kind of shit wasn't going to go down. You wonder why we have a de facto police state? That's a perfect example. I can remember a time when there would have been a riot if the cops tried that kind of crap, the cops would have had the crap kicked out of them.

I hope that kid sues the living shit out of the universitym te cops and the state.

Too much news today (?). Does anyone feel like we're turning a corner? Do you see the religious right losing ground. Is the GOP toast? Yet another sex scandal today (rolling eyes here).

If you want to see a sick conversation, this is from a financial network where the topic of discussion is the financial impact of a pre-emptive attack on Iran. They are talking about the positive benefits to the stock market. It has our buddy Ann Coulter (as a financial pundit?)

Its surreal and unfortunately, the nonsense they are spewing has influence since they're swimming in dollars.

nonny mouse @ 53:

I hope John will allow me this small amount of blogwhoring... the mouse has decided to try my own blog. Not that I actually have the faintest idea of what I'm doing, and spend more time swearing at the damn thing than actual writing. But... my first post is up. It's pretty simple, and more personal than political, but I'm working on another more politically oriented. Feel free to stop by, wave hello, have a snicker, make a comment.

And if I knew how to do those enclosed whatzits, the above would say: 'Mouse Musings' Now all I have to do is figure out what all the buttons do.... hmmm.... *pop*

Here you go, Nonny:

"Since KSFO is owned by ABC/Disney, we’re waiting for the promo, “Hi, Kids! I’m Mickey Mouse, and I endorse hate speech!”"

Mickey Mouse (Walt Disney) endorsed hate speech back in the 1930s:

http://www.momentsintime.com/Disney%20Book%20Page.htm

I once went to a war-era, propagannda, animation, film festival in Toronto. All our favourites were like this back then: Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Porky, etc., etc. They were beating up the ____ and the _____ and the_____ (all words I can't use now). There were lots of Disney clips too. It was amazing!! ----(Remember how on Bugs Bunny they used to show blacks with big lips, bones through their noses, and stretched necks, on TV! (But perhaps I reveal my age.)

I'm only in my 40s, but I do recall seeing some of those racist caricatures in the older cartoons.

Nice new Blog nonny! Looks like a beautiful place.

You should get a new cat!

It’s time to make KSFO stop the worst of the hate speech. It is out of hand. Boycott. Disney would listen to a boycott very fast. Very!

Paul @ 61:

Also if you watch the very beginning of the tussle, one of the cops pulls and aims what at first seems to be his sidearm, but I believe it is his taser, and points it at Meyer and the two cops. Was this cowboy actually going to discharge his weapon in an open community forum? This is a reflection of their mentality. And it is getting worse.

Never met a Raider fan that didn't enjoy a nice cozy dog burning, followed by a satisfying rape.
KSFO is giving the Raiders what they want...

Remember, it's the culture that Vick grew up in...that is to blame for his crimes.
That means it's all our faults when Raiders fans commit most of the crimes that happen in the Bay Area.
Mandatory sterilization at "the Black Hole" would save the Bay Area gene pool.

If you think things are bad now, wait until Blackwater comes back from "practice" in Iraq and spreads out into local police departments. No way? Never happen?

Think again!

Hi everybody! Did I miss anything yesterday?

On Being Called An Anti-Semite in Montana

I grew up with Big Daddy Don Sherwood and Jazzbo AL Collins on KSFO. It's disgusting what has happened there. They turned it into another right wing shit faucet. Melanie Morgan is a total douche bag.

Not happy with the abuse of power this any years after 9-11. Many excuses to violate the Constitution. Congress seems to have gone to sleep. Frustrating that the 2006 Mandate has been squandered. I hope there are some Americans willing to work for a new governance system. This has fallen apart. This was not supposed to happen.

I called Jim Robinson's office, at the number listed below. I spoke with a very pleasant female who told me that ABC Radio Networks was purchased by Citadel Broadcasting Corp, and is no longer affiliated with Disney. Any confirmation?

Robinson is, however, part of the new Citadel Broadcasting Group management, so it is still good to call this office. Remember, the female staffer who answered is very nice.

H/t to Messrs. Bush, Cheney and Bernanke. Though their work is not yet done.

Mike the Canuck @ 25:

Your country is pretty sad..... on one hand people are arrested for protesting the war in Iraq. On the other hand you have radio and TV stations that are allowed to spew absolute garbage.(KSFO and the show 20/20). Can someone please explain to us in Canada what is going on????

It is very simple. MONEY RULES our country. They own the majority of all the "gateways" to public discourse: Newspapers, Radio, TV, etc. The truth is good neighbor, you are witnessing the decline of a once great nation. We now have over a million police in our country where the violece statistics have been going down for 20 years...WTF??

We need to boycott all things Disney.

BaScOmBe @ 70:

there's cholera in Iraq, Lot's of it spreading towards baghdad. Wait until our soldiers start bringing it home.

What are you worried about? Cholera is an INSIGNIFICANT disease in first world countries. The only people it kills are those without medical attention (and some weakened persons).

You are a lot more in danger of the weaponry and explosives let loose there, than the diseases of occupation.

OversightNeeded @ 84:

Frustrating that the 2006 Mandate has been squandered.

• AG Gonzales (and most of the crony top management at DoJ) is gone.

• Rove is gone.

That took eight months -- time well spent.

• Congress is strong, and getting stronger.

• We need special prosecutors, as soon as we can.

KSFO isn't owned by ABC/Disney
