If Bill stays pissed, and Hillary wins anyway, she's going to appoint him Assistant Attache to Ulan Bator.

I can recall some time back talk of a 'super hi-way' from Mexico to Canada as part of the NAFTA / SPP plan - check out the video in the link from Manitoba's Nov 30 throne speech!!

Howard Zinn quote

Guys this is a very important article everyone should read. I'm from Phoenix AZ and there's lots of shit going on here that isn't getting the proper press coverage from our "liberal media". It's a big story with lots of elements in it, but here's a paragraph that should hook some interest from readers here - including bloggers as they can be effected the same way. Anyways, here's the paragraph:

Maricopa County law enforcement violated the constitutional rights of this newspaper and its readers in October, going so far as to subpoena the identities of anyone who'd looked at New Times online in the past four years. When the paper's leaders revealed the apparent grand jury probe on our cover, they were arrested.

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2007-12-06/news/power-play/

It was a big victory for Phoenix New Times and for every American that appreciates their constitutional freedoms, but as the byline warns...

County law enforcement's attack on the judiciary didn't work, but the war's far from over

Please read it and bring yourselves up to par on this story if you're not familiar with it. This should be given some attention from the blogoshere as well (or give it more attention)... Just imagine if you're a blogger and the government demanded a list of all your readers from the past four years and include their reading habits.

With so much going wrong with our communication corporations turning their backs on the constitution and work in collusion with the government to attack our civil liberties, I thought it appropriate that we give applause to that go to the front lines and tangle with Goliath, because this local publication proves that David can still defeat the giant, but the fight to defend our rights is a never ending struggle.

10-4 Good Buddy.

I couldn't agree with you more. After all, his statement of record, I believe, was (paraphrasing), "I could never get a job at the CIA. I'm not qualified to head the CIA." But, ironically, it's under his watch that the CIA waterboarding videos went missing. But apparently, not the transcripts. Hmmm

Hey Nonny Nonny!!!! What a wonderful treat! Congrats! Sounds like a real page turner! I'll be asking for it for Christmas, for sure! :)

From here it looks like he is sharing a post with you.

I don't care what anyone says - I fucking love George Clooney.

Between his 'Wait, I thought I was straight!' good looks and natural charisma, and his films such as Good Night, And Good Luck as well as Syriana, what is there left to say?

Stephen Colbert once remarked that he's not gay, but if he "had to," individuals like Brat Pitt and a young Sean Connery came to mind. Well, for me, it's Clooney.

I am afraid i may be suffering from Post Traumatic Outrage Fatigue (PissTOF) and need to go to sleep.

I printed out Al Gore's Speech on the acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize and I am sending it as a Chistmas letter this year. I also send out a prayer that we can reverse the damage we have caused our planet and solar system.

"The following are majority positions among Americans, and overwhelmingly majority positions among Democrats: end the occupation of Iraq, impeach the vice president, create single-payer not-for-profit universal health coverage, withdraw from corporate trade agreements like NAFTA, and slash the Pentagon budget in order to invest in diplomacy, foreign aid, education, jobs, and green energy. Only one candidate supports this platform. He came in third in MoveOn.org's poll, and then second in Democrats.com's, then first in Democracy for America's, and most recently first in Progressive Democrats of America's poll. These are polls done outside the corporate media, polls of progressive activists. His campaign is where the energy is, but it is energy that must resist the influence of the corporate media. Our country and our planet are in peril, and we have no viable alternative. Nobody else comes close. His name is Dennis Kucinich." - How To Vote In Primaries And Not Be An Idiot by David Swanson

Congressman (Tom Tancredo) addresses hate group
by Alexander Zaitchik

COLUMBIA, S.C. | Sept. 11, 2006 -- For a college football game day, the South Carolina State Museum in downtown Columbia was a busy place on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 9.

On the ground floor, a United States Army brass band commemorated the victims of 9/11. One level up, not far from the museum's permanent Confederate Army exhibit, the state chapter of the League of the South (LOS), a neo-Confederate hate group, hosted a barbeque in honor of Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, head of the House Immigration Reform Caucus. Proceeds from the $15 per-plate fundraiser went to Americans Have Had Enough!, a South Carolina-based non-profit coalition for which Tancredo serves as honorary chairman.

While Tancredo's hard-line "deport 'em all" stance on immigration has made him a favorite politician of white supremacists, this marked the first time the congressman has appeared at a hate group event.

Dressed casually in a yellow t-shirt, Tancredo addressed the standing-room audience of 200-250 from behind a podium draped in a Confederate battle flag. To the congressman's right, a portrait of Robert E. Lee peered out at the crowd of Minutemen activists, local politicians, and red-shirted members of LOS and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Confederate trappings of the event found a mismatch in Tancredo's standard nativist polemic, which stayed clear of references to Southern heritage or direct plaudits for the LOS, a Southern white nationalist organization dedicated to "Southern independence, complete, full, and total."

Tancredo's appearance was part of a five-day sweep through conservative South Carolina, which hosts an early GOP primary and has seen the Southeast's largest percentage gain in foreign-born residents since the 2000 Census. Rising to his friendly audience, Tancredo blasted South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham for being too soft on immigration and basked in the long applause that followed his harangues against illegal immigrants and "the cult of multiculturalism" that glorifies disunity and refuses to acknowledge the "Christian principles enshrined in the U.S. Constitution." (Tancredo did not appear to grasp the irony of addressing the "lack of unity" in America in front of a group dedicated to Southern secession.)

The afternoon's proceedings were opened by Garland McCoy, board member of Americans Have Had Enough! McCoy, a veteran conservative activist and treasurer of the telecom industry front-group Progress and Freedom Foundation, declared he "has not been so excited" by a politician in a long time. "Tom Tancredo can go all the way," he said. Most in the crowd appeared to agree. "I brought my son here today to meet the next president of the United States," one man told Tancredo during the question-and-answer period.

McCoy was followed by a lineup of conservative South Carolina politicians and LOS members, including a local preacher who during a rambling invocation called upon the audience to "pray for everyone involved [in the fight] against those coming from desperate cultures and languages [sic]."

At the close of Tancredo's speech, several men in confederate-themed clothing stood up and bellowed the first notes of "Dixie," the Confederate anthem. They were soon joined by voices from throughout the large hall, which was now entirely on its feet. Tancredo, a second-generation Italian-American from Denver, appeared confused by the sudden burst of strange song. He quickly worked his way toward the exit with his staff.

Tancredo's encounter with the League of the South continued outside. On the steps of the museum, Tancredo held court with LOS officials and supporters in Confederate clothing. He held a batch of the materials being distributed at the barbeque, among them a copy of the The Citizen's Informer, the newspaper of the Conservative Citizens Council, the racist organization that grew out of the segregationist White Citizens Councils of the 1950s. When questioned about the newspaper, Tancredo responded that he did not know its history.

Hey I've written a book too, well more of a thesis but could be made into a book. That is if you're interested in a euro - point of view...oh well, guess not.

NONNY! OH MY GOD! I'm buying your book ASAP. I've had my hands full here on the home front. Less said the better. Can't blog much anymore but I saw this thread and got so excited for you. Miss talking to you and all the folks at C&L. Hope you're doing Ok. Gotta go. Love you all at C&L.

I watched a bit of Tom Brokaw on the Charlie Rose show tonight talking about his book "The Sixites" and the History Channel documentry on 1968 specifically (which was a good show - nothing about UFOs thank goodness)

The following is a quote from that interview. I liked it because it sums up my philosophy:

"The big political lesson [of the sixties] was that you got to have a clearly established goals, that you can't be hostage to political correctness, that you have to examine situations on their merit, and that the solution may come from the right - and that's okay, or it may come from the left - and *that's* okay, as long as we continue to move in that direction. And that does not mean you have to sacrifice your personal ideology."

StrawBB!!! Miss you too, babes! I haven't been on as regular as I should - been rather busy with transitional stuff - moving half-way around the world is actually a bit tougher than I quite expected. Hope you come by for the salon tomorrow!

George Clooney, Al Gore, Roger Troutman.
We're crawling with great Americans.

Oh Nonny, I'm so excited for you. I always knew you were special, now the rest of the country will know that too. Congratulations and I know you are going to have wonderful book sales. :)

Congrats, Nonny!

Obama bringing in Oprah now defines Obama for what he himself thinks about his elect-ability. Its obvious Obama does not have the self confidence to believe in his own motto to get elected to win on his own merit. It surprises me; no more like confounds me that Obama severely, rebuked the “Baby Boomers”. Obama said they are the problem with America today and we can’t wait till we are rid of them.” Lol, now he wants their vote, yikes. What real time hypocrisy we are watching is truly the very reason why we are in such a stupid situation in politics. One wonders if Hillary will use that political snit in an ad. To be sure the Neo-Nuts will lash out she is unfair in a negative champagne to Obama, when seriously folks Obama insulted and wiped out in a most deplorable way a whole voting bock he needs. The dunder heads in this political analysis is amazing.

I’m glad Hillary just brought in her mother, daughter, and Bill. It was humbling, but watching the hoopla across the Media the sensational talk that Hillary is sunk only forged what solidly is expected for all channels from Hannity, Chris Mathews, to Limbaugh, and the nay sayers in this blog, Obama is surging and Hillary is sunk.

It’s very amusing to witness the critics approach to this so called momentum because of the Mainstream Media star Oprah. Bet your ballot Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and a host of Black leadership are on sidelines not feeling too good about her support coming out now. Or, even though she said she is doing this grandstanding on her own, is Oprah really a Mainstream Media tool where we are all witness to the most manipulated black billionaire in America. Was she convinced by the media that is part of her IMUS contract to create controversy, to do it or loose that fat pay check?

Whats really funny is CNN has a pole out were Obama wants a vote as whether Oprah should be his Vice President. WOW. If Oprah picks up your mortgage I think she will win on that platform.

I think Hillary has a better plan than this approach.

Did anyone here at C&L catch Dan
Abrams last night? He has started a segment called "Bush League Justice" about the disintegration of the Justice Department under this maladministration. I hope that we'll see some clips of these segments here.

Unfortunately those of us who are actually expected to accomplish things while at work won't be able to join in.
