Just few moments ago some big hitters on Wall Street simply are able to belly up to the Federal Reserve window to cash in on some low cost loan money. Hey wouldn’t it be neat if John Doe common American could just belly up the same window to get the low cost loan. Say hey there fellow, I got this here 23% credit card loan and I would like to reduce it to the new federal Reserve rate, ah I think its 3.75 % yah that sounds like a good deal. O.K. Thanks!

For the little guy not going to happen. You know what would be cool!!

Where as we the people authorize any tavern or gin mill, or night club lounge to be able to grant Federal Reserve loans instantaneously after you belly up to the bar. All loans guaranteed against default, you only have to be a citizen in good standing that pay your taxes and stay out of jail or forfeit this privilege. Proof of citizenship required holy cow is this where the illegal alien gap is they really don’t want you to know.!!!

Hey, vote for me and this will be law. Sure the whole banking industry would go bonkers, but isn’t there now.

The EPA was going to continue its previous standard, just written in a different language, but not surprisingly, it was the Bush administration which forced them to lower the standard, and turn failure into "success".

At this point it's cheaper to buy gallons of vegetable oil from the grocery store instead of diesel at the pump... and better for the environment as well. Just replace all the rubber hoses in the fuel line of your diesel car/truck with plastic lines (vegetable oil slowly dissolves rubber), and you're all set!

David Petraeus: Iraqis Not Making "Sufficient Progress"
Washington Post | Cameron Barr | March 14, 2008 08:18 AM

With a Senate appearance looming to explain the success of President Bush's surge in Iraq, Gen. David Petreaus has offered his starkest commentary yet on the state of Iraq reconciliation, reports the Washington Post:

Petraeus, who is preparing to testify to Congress next month on the Iraq war, said in an interview that "no one" in the U.S. and Iraqi governments "feels that there has been sufficient progress by any means in the area of national reconciliation," or in the provision of basic public services.

The general's comments appeared to be his sternest to date on Iraqis' failure to achieve political reconciliation. In February, following the passage of laws on the budget, provincial elections and an amnesty for certain detainees, Petraeus was more encouraging. "The passage of the three laws today showed that the Iraqi leaders are now taking advantage of the opportunity that coalition and Iraqi troopers fought so hard to provide," he said at the time.

“Every time, this economy has bounced back better and stronger than before,” Bush said, showing his optimism about the resiliency of the economy.

He said unemployment was low at 4.8 percent and productivity was strong. But he acknowledged that prices are up at the gas pump and grocery stores and housing values are down.

“Hardworking Americans are concerned,” he said. “They’re concerned about their families. They’re concerned about making their bills.”

The president also praised the work of the Federal Reserve to boost the economy. The Fed on Friday said it has voted to endorse an arrangement to bolster troubled Bear Stearns Cos. and stands ready to provide extra resources to combat a serious credit crisis.

German police kill U.S. soldierStory Highlights

BERLIN, Germany (CNN) -- German police in a Bavarian town shot and killed a U.S. soldier overnight after what appeared to be a violent domestic incident, local police said.

Police said the man was armed with a military-style M4 rifle, took his girlfriend hostage in her house and tied her up.

The woman fled and called police, who launched a search for the man.

Using night vision cameras from a helicopter, police were able to find the soldier, who was shot in Koenigsberg after he threatened the officers when they attempted to arrest him.

Military police from the nearby U.S. Army base in Schweinfurt, where the soldier was stationed, are investigating the incident with German police.

The U.S. military said the soldier was from the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division "Dagger Brigade."

The soldier died at Leopoldina Hospital in Schweinfurt from a gunshot wound "received in a confrontation with local German and U.S. military authorities late last night," the military said.

"The Dagger Brigade chain of command is cooperating fully with the investigation being conducted jointly by U.S. Army and German authorities," the military said.

The soldier's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. E-mail to a friend

CNN's Frederik Pleitgen contributed to this report.
