(h/t David Stephenson) In many communities in Africa, children can't attend school without a school uniform and are even chased away if they try to go to school without a uniform. Often girls don't get the opportunity to attend school that boys get, without support from outside organizations. Read more at The Girl Effect dot org.

"More secret government files left on train: newspaper
7 hours ago

LONDON (AFP) — A second batch of secret government files have been found on a train, just days after intelligence on Al-Qaeda and Iraq were misplaced, according to a newspaper report.

The Independent on Sunday said it was handed papers covering government policy on fighting global terrorist funding, drug trafficking and money laundering after they were left on a train bound for Waterloo station Wednesday.

The disclosure came after the BBC was handed high-level files Tuesday on Al-Qaeda and Iraq that were marked "Top Secret" and "for UK/US/Canadian/Australian eyes only".

They were left on the seat of a commuter train at Waterloo."

Not that I should bitch, the only intimacy in my life is getting felt up by the TSA, but air travel these days is the worst. I wear a long jean skirt often and sometimes get pulled out because "I might have something under it" to which I always reply, I do, but it's none of your concern.

The best story (for our non-thinking fucking government officials), I forgot to bring a baggie (for my three ounce bottles) and they wouldn't let me take through a small bottle of hotel hand lotion. I pulled out some plastic bag I had in my purse, smaller than the one allowed, and they told me it has to be a one quart baggie which zipped. I looked at the guy and said, You have to be joking. It's in a plastic bag. It's a .2 oz think of hand cream! He told me I could go back through security again and they would allow it.

I looked at him and said, fuck it, keep it. Try thinking for a change. Have you no common sense?

I am going to be on the no travel list for my big mouth, but honestly, some of the policies are simply retarded.

Agreed completely! Education doesn't always produce intelligence (just look at Bush. Everything going for him but for a brain and a conscience).

And having gone out with the Adonis type - albeit rarely - all it took was once thinking, dude, just don't speak. That cemented it.

Now, I don't even look for good looking men (someone I find attractive is sufficient, and I am blessed with finding a lot of things attractive), for good looking people (of both genders) tend to get by on looks alone and lack the depth of personality I have a great appreciation for.

Someone please look this up since I am technically ignorant to do so. A touch off topic, but I’m imagining worth it.
Some time ago Bush kinda romanticized soldiers in Iraq, something like, “If I was younger I could see the adventure of going to Iraq and serve my country”. Of course many were all over that due to his AWOLiness while in the National Air Guard, and the position reserved for him so he could AVOID the adventure in Vietnam. I saw it maybe a month ago.
Last night I did a double take because of a McCain ad that starts with something very funny, I think, with regards to Bush & McCain relationship and Bush’s dreamy statement. I didn’t catch it exactly but McCain states,”Anyone who romanticizes war is a fool and a ????”. Then the scene switches and he continues to talk about how he doesn’t like war and blah blah blah.
If these two segments were put up together it would be halarious.
Someone please find these and blog it up, I think it’ll be precious.

Call me a conspiricy theorist, but everytime I have flipped through CNN or MSNBC all they have been talking about, expecially the latter has been Tim Russert's death. I know that he was well liked by his peers, but 24/7 coverage? What is Bush doing whilst they are covering the life of Russert? I did see that CNN was talking about the flooding in the midwest in between, I hate to sound like I am disrespectful of him, but come on? Isn't there some real news to be broadcasting?

Oh wait, I forgot that ended right after 9/11.

Oh wait, I forgot that ended right after 9/11.

To me, it's beyond that. I posted this on TPM tonight.

RIP, Mr. Russert, but I am still pissed!

Forgive me for this post but I have to say it. I mean no disrespect. That said…

While I am saddened by the passing of anyone, especially an icon of our times, I am struggling with the emotions which are within me right now.

Am I the only one who feels resentment for what I see as Mr. Russert’s selling himself, and us, out over the last several years? His taking what the administration said to him as “off the record” unless otherwise stated is the antithesis of journalism. His involvement with the Plame affair, his softballing interviews, the “debates.” We, as a nation, are reaping the rewards of this type of journalism.

As an icon, I believe that he had more of a responsibility than others. I don’t expect much from the Bill O’Hannity-Coulter’s of the world. But I did and do hold those who are highly respected to act responsibly. And I don’t feel that has taken place in the last eight plus years.

My heart goes out to his friends and family. I am sorry for their loss and their pain.

I am also sorry for the loss of the integrity and very meaning of my country. Mr. Russert was a part of the Fourth Estate of our country. And I am very angry about and deeply saddened by their failures.

Please tell me if I am off the mark or if you disagree. But these emotions within me are not going away - rather the opposite. For this isn’t about him or me, it is about US.

RIP Mr. Russert.

Yeah it was kid Reagan, Ronald's adopted son, who is calling for the murder of anti-war activist Mark Dice. Luckily Mark Dice knows how to stick up for himself. Too bad the rest of the media wouldn't back him up though. Pretty shocking video and transcript. I sure thought it was newsworthy.
