It seems the Westboro Baptist Church is realizing that you can't go to other countries and then argue that your particular brand of hatred is protected speech. Especially when you illegally sneak into said country.

I pointed out that the Vatican, the Arch-bishop of Canterbury and the WCC (with it's 300 member churches) all came out against the war. So therefore, they didn't see it as moral. What made boosh a moral authority?

I have to made a video that attempts to push back against Newt Gingrich's "Drill Here Drill Now" campaign in a way that is designed to use their argument against them in a way that would appeal to the conservative mindset. For example, hunting is a wildlife activity conservatives love. If the environmental argument is that the oil companies want to take over their pristine hunting land, it is more effective that calling it "environmentally protected areas." I also wanted to show that their patriotism is being used against them in the term "American Oil" because there is loads of "American Oil" available to Oil companies in land they already have access to and that oil isn't being brought to market. In fact, the Oil companies haven't even paid billions in royalties for the American oil they have already taken.

I believe that videos are an extremely powerful way of getting points across. Many times more effective than other media. I wanted to provide this as a tool for bloggers to help reinforce the great arguments they are already making in text.

Red Forman and Archie Bunker are fictitious contemporaries. Both have blue-collar credentials, both are white, both are middle-class, both are conservative, both are not from dixie. Archie is from NY, while Red is from WI. Weird thing is--and this may simply have to do with when the series were actually written--Red is most likely a culturally liberal Rockefeller republican, whereas Archie is a very culturally conservative labor Democrat. They would disagree on practically zero issues, yet their votes would cancel one another out.

Things are much clearer these days.
