The Dems are unanimous on better health care. The FBI thinks it can get away with an apology
for pulling Nixonian crap on prominent newspapers. Whole Foods customers will have to ask "Where's the beef?". McCain tries to trash-talk Obama. Does Obama have his electoral votes covered?
This Edwards thing has really got me down. When my terminally ill dad was in his last few months, his doctors specifically instructed my family to not put any unnecessary stress on him because it could "accelerate the process".
This was a bad thing by an apparent good guy(yes I still believe in him).

i have never fucked over my wife screw the stones!
Well, yeah, if you're fucking over your wife, you're doing it wrong. And I don't know what's up with screwing stones. To each his own, I guess, but screwing stones? How does that work?
In any case, I really couldn't care less how a politician behaves in his or her private sex life, and the sooner the rest of the country stops caring about such titillating tabloid tripe the better. If a sexual indiscretion automatically disqualified a candidate from office, we'd have very few office holders at all.
yeah i did ,i made the mistake of thinking your word was your bond , guess some of you think you can say your marrage vows and the first time your pecker gets swollen by some skank its ok to boink her as long as after you get caught you can weasel your way back by crying i wont do it again honey!

Who is that "some of you". I can't find anyone here giving Edwards a pat on the back for his behavior. As an Edwards supporter I find it very disappointing but what do you want us to do assassinate him ?

I think you made the mistake of thinking other people's marriages were any of your business.

Well, Republicans seem to think it's okay for Republicans to behave that way.
As for me, I don't think cheating is "okay," but I don't think an indiscretion renders a person worthless. And hey, plenty of long-standing couples have consensual agreements about having sex with other people. For all we know, the Edwards had something like that going on. (If they did, you can bet the press wouldn't treat them kindly for it.)
More importantly, though, I think our uptight, busy-body culture, which appears more concerned about sex than anything else, harms us all by perpetuating the silly idea that every individual can and must be monogamous. We all have our individual proclivities, orientations and demons. Who cares what John Edwards' are? Let it be.
I love Russ Feingold because he's the last Democrat in the Democratic Party and he's my Senator. But I can't excuse him for not officially endorsing Obama because he's still a McCain groupie from his old Maverick days.
aint you people got something else to cry over, jesus were running out of hair nets at the dollar general stores,
What about the anthrax supposed suicide or how to solve the drilling for oil problem. Do we have to drill off shore when they have leases on 68,000 acres that they aren't drilling.
What's the story on Obama's plane logos?? Were'nt the flag logos American Airlines Logos and had to be removed???
Also can someone here tell me what to google to find whether John M left his wife or his wife left him or how that all went down when he returned from Viet Nam...

Yes. Because the company that's going to build the drilling platforms will probably get a no bid contract and the tax payer will end up footing the bill. Isn't that how it usually works?
these guys are awesome, but they are nowhere near as good as they were back in the mid -90s. they're productions at the joyce theater, circa 1996, were spectacular.
but now? well, they're on conan o'brien, for one....

The Joyce was the second time I saw Pilobolus. The first time was at the ADF at Duke. It blew me away then. So this production was a little "Blue Man", nothing wrong with trying to widen the audience.

Calif to get the largest DeSal plant in the nation.
The water, good.
The brine bad. What are they gonna do with the by product? Send it back into the ocean, thats what. Ever been in the ocean close to one of those things? You eyes burn because of the extra salt. Don't send it back to the ocean. Make Sea Salt.
I can't believe how some of these folks end up in charge.
Oh, on the Edwards thing. He lied. He violated both his marriage vows and the public trust. Unfortunately, when he started stumping and made comments about morals and how his wife and him were making it through tough times together, on national TEEVEE. It became our business . If you saw my comment about him yesterday, you know I'm thoroughly disgusted at this man.
Theres a difference between the common man and politicians. Politicians need to be held up to a higher standard. After all they are the ones seeking our approval ,so they can get elected. I'm not saying it's ok for the common man. Far from it.
But, I'm over this topic of Edwards. What a let down.
Good Night folks, Be well.
ger
The fact that Edwards cheated on his wife and lied to his supporters is very disappointing and troubling, but he is not trying to be the next president of the United States.
McCain's past history in this regard may come back to haunt him.

Why is the woman who HAD SEX WITH A MARRIED MAN not getting any scrutiny? Y'know, women always seem to get a pass on these situations. For instance: Ms. Flowers and Bill Clinton. Ms. Flowers the "innocent" versus Bill "the womanizer". Hey, the woman KNEW he was married. Is the word "No" not part of her vocabulary? And she wanted to go on television and tell the world "what kind of man Bill Clinton was". Well, we kind of already knew what "kind" of woman you were! It's a little late to discuss anyone's character except your own!
So why all the silence about Edwards "affair-mate". Why is only Edwards the disgrace? Yes, he broke his marriage vows. He did not respect his marriage and his wife. That same criticism can be applied to the "other woman". Or did she think his wedding band was just a "cool" piece of jewelry?

So nice to see Kissinger at the Olympics with georgie doof. So many war criminals together at once...
Must make those PlayStation X slave workers happy to see.
Wonder how much it would cost to buy some Chinese war crimes trials for Bushco (while they are all there)
They finally could all be useful members of society after their sentencing,
the Chinese gov has a gruesome habit of converting prisoners into dead organ donors on an industrial scale.
And Delay and Newt get blowjobs form illegals in cockroach infested bars in SC.

Pearl-clutchers,
Beyond the jaw-dropping devastation Edwards could have created for the election if he he'd become the presumptive nominee instead of Obama, it is clear that he did not commit a crime under our nations laws by committing adultery. If there was a breech of contract over Mr Edwards sexual behaviors, I am positive that I was not party to that private contract, and therefore it is clearly none of my concern. Mrs Edwards obviously has options she is entitled to pursue in this personal matter.
Similarly, Edwards friend had no contract with me, and owes me no explanation for her participation in her private behaviors. Regardless of how I or anyone may feel, I can not conceive how she would automatically owe me, or anyone she wasn't in contract with, any different behavior, despite deeply felt emotions over the subject.
Mr. Edwards had a very public wedding. Family, friends, the minister and even the God he believes in attended. Wedding announcements in the local paper, etc. Why is it that the taking of those marriage vows can be public but the breaking of those same vows is a private and personal matter?
Point taken, but you conveniently ignore one important fact: John Edwards chose to run for political office, thus making himself a person of public interest, thus opening up his life for public scrutiny. As the saying goes: If you don't want people talking about what's in your house, then don't invite them in. Whether a contract exists or not, the elements of his life (of which that contract is a part) became of public interest by his invitation when he chose to run for POTUS. Its too late to claim privacy now.
Let's only allow virgins to run for political office.
Not just nation wide, but world wide.
Then the people of the planet can get on with living their lives and politicians can continue to do for us what they have always done.
Nothing.
Isn't that how the Roman Catholic Church is run?
I once knew a pregnant nun.
Saint Mary's Seminary in Baltimore was shut down thirty years ago because of "Rampant homosexuality."
Beyond that i don't get your point.
My point is we need this power structure and this media structure like we need multiple malignant tumors.
I, for one, have lost all confidence in fixing this mess.
It can all go to hell a lot faster as far as i am concerned.
The sooner the better.
I;m banking on the Large Hadron Collider which is going to fully operational in early September. Some scientist think it might cause a series of mini black holes that might join and start swallowing up matter and eventually the earth.
Hopefully that is natures plan, we get just so smart as to be able to imitate nature and then destroy all life and things start over again.
Kinda like a self cleaning thing.
It has been raining for two weeks here so on evenings like this a few of us get together and watch TED.com and listen to all the new science.
I love these rainy times.

I really hate Pelosi, I have had enough of her damned perma-grin and her condescending attitude because she is "very important."
At this point, it is clear to me that she is not only an enabler but actually an accomplice.

And please stop spreading that meme about the black holes, those "scientist" talking about the "mini-blackholes" are neither scientist nor know much if anything about particle physics... and it just looks sad.

The scale of values in this country has been so out of whack for so long, basically since its inception really, that I doubt it is fixable.
Manners that should be private become of public interests. Whereas things and issues that should private, like most inner workings of Government, under this administration at least they have become not only private but secret even...
YES! The Labrador Retriever's were a threat to the police? There's no such thing as a no knock warrant in Maryland? So just kick in our doors whenever you want, shot our dogs, and threaten to kill us?

Edwards is a cheating piece of shit who clearly can not be trusted.
I really don't care what the circumstances are. I don't want to hear the "he's only human" crap.
Until recently he was asking the public to trust him with one of the most important positions in the government. His name has also been considered for AG and VP. Will that be his excuse when he's caught in some illegal activity while he's serving in government? "Sorry I screwed up but I'm only human. You have to understand."
Screwing around on your wife isn't illegal but it is a low life, scum bag thing to do. Not to mention self centered and just plain stupid.
I'm tired of putting up with this two-faced, double dealing crap from people who claim they want to lead. Where are all the intelligent, progressive democrats? We need to put these empty suits out to pasture. People may have learned to settle for this kind of thing but I'm not one of them.
I want a government that can be trusted.

sorry but the path to getting rid of the bush cheny gangs been fixed , while thier may be an election this november it will most probably be rigged , they will not even try to cover it up, outraged obama supporters will then commence rioting , looting and citys being set on fire will give the bush criminals the right to setup martial law and allow them to hold onto power indefinatly, enjoy the soilent green you will be feasting on in haliburton gulags!
Point taken, but you conveniently ignore one important fact: John Edwards chose to run for political office, thus making himself a person of public interest, thus opening up his life for public scrutiny. Read the first line of my opening comment. Clearly Edwards judgment is a matter of public concern. The prurient nature of our society regrettably makes it so. The details, and questions like "what about his tramp," "what kinds of sex activities" "how many strokes" can only of be of interest to the prurient minded.
ok, to those who say edwards cheating on his wife is between him and his wife, what if the "ch" was a "b"? would you feel the same?
because, while there's no physical damage done to a woman by her adulterous husband (usually), there is great emotional damage done.
you might say, but a cheated woman can heal, she can forgive, she can get over it. and i would say, yes, the same about physical abuse, too.
am i suggesting we make adulterers pariahs, like we do wife-beaters?
i don't have any firm answers. but i know that to turn a blind eye to emotional abuse is as wrong as ignoring physical abuse.
Who is suggesting to "turn a blind eye to emotional abuse?" There is a huge difference between excusing or otherwise condoning Edwards' actions in a moral sense and arguing that it is not the public's business.
Can you really not see the difference between a sexual affair and beating a spouse? One entails giving into sexual urges -- not the public's business. The other entails an act of violence -- the violent actor should be removed from civil society for the protection of both the actual and other potential victims. That cheating on one's spouse might cause that spouse emotional pain is not the point for purposes of whether the story merits public attention. Hell, it might cause just as much pain to Elizabeth Edwards to cover the friggen story. More importantly, it causes emotional pain when you stand someone up on a date, but it's not a public concern. It causes emotional pain when you decide you're no longer in love with your partner, and seek a divorce, but it's not a matter of public concern. Violence, on the other hand, is a matter of public concern.
Edwards is a cheating piece of shit who clearly can not be trusted.
I really don't care what the circumstances are. I don't want to hear the "he's only human" crap.

Screwing around on your wife isn't illegal but it is a low life, scum bag thing to do. Not to mention self centered and just plain stupid.
Our society's equation of sexual indiscretion -- not to mention sex in general -- with horrific crimes against the public will never cease to amaze me. It just isn't true that someone who cannot be trusted to remain faithful to his wife necessarily cannot be trusted with anything else. It does not follow to think so. It is stupid to think so.
I'm tired of putting up with this two-faced, double dealing crap from people who claim they want to lead. We need to put these empty suits out to pasture. People may have learned to settle for this kind of thing but I'm not one of them.
I want a government that can be trusted.
Oh, cut out the hysterics.
The "only human" defense might apply to sexual indiscretions. It does not apply to beating one's wife, spying on American citizens or starting wars. There are people prone to marital infidelity who make wonderful public servants. And there are people who are great husbands and family men who make evil tyrants. Not all human indiscretions are equal, and not all are equally matters of public concern, even when the actor is a pubic person.
For crying out loud, he had sex. An affair. He didn't rob a bank or commit mass murder. It's a private matter to be sorted out by him, his wife and his lover. Let it be.
Where are all the intelligent, progressive democrats?
Point taken, but you conveniently ignore one important fact: John Edwards chose to run for political office, thus making himself a person of public interest, thus opening up his life for public scrutiny. Exactly. Thank you, Brad, for some basic, common sense principles of liberty, and the ability to distinguish among private and public matters.
What is this about John Edwards? Another Clinton drama! I did not and then I did once caught in the act. I was not going to vote for Edwards if his conduct was tarnished.
What a joke! He could have been forthright with the people from the beginning rather than stealing the momentum for his own glory.
May be we should elect Elizabeth, his wife to be the president.
What about John McCain's illicit behavior with the so called woman? Is he going to confess during the debate? What about Obama? Is he going to confess his weaknesses too?
While I wish personal matters would stay clear from political matters, we all know that's just not the case and hasn't been for many years. For Edwards to have an affair in between his vice presidential and presidential runs just shows extremely bad judgment.
I'm a big fan of what Edwards stood for but this affair negates all that. What it shows is that he really didn't believe in what he was 'fighting for', if he really did he wouldn't have jeopardized it with this affair.
Forget Paternity Test for Edwards, Just Check the Hair!

Let it be.
Very cool video.
Karen @ 21, you have summed up my feelings exactly. John Edwards is still married and what happens behind closed doors is none of our business.
oh hell who cares

I love Russ Feingold because he's the last Democrat in the Democratic Party and he's my Senator. But I can't excuse him for not officially endorsing Obama because he's still a McCain groupie from his old Maverick days.

What's the story on Obama's plane logos?? Were'nt the flag logos American Airlines Logos and had to be removed???
Also can someone here tell me what to google to find whether John M left his wife or his wife left him or how that all went down when he returned from Viet Nam...
Ron @ 32:
Yes. Because the company that's going to build the drilling platforms will probably get a no bid contract and the tax payer will end up footing the bill. Isn't that how it usually works?
these guys are awesome, but they are nowhere near as good as they were back in the mid -90s. they're productions at the joyce theater, circa 1996, were spectacular.

ok, to those who say edwards cheating on his wife is between him and his wife, what if the "ch" was a "b"? would you feel the same?
because, while there's no physical damage done to a woman by her adulterous husband (usually), there is great emotional damage done.
you might say, but a cheated woman can heal, she can forgive, she can get over it. and i would say, yes, the same about physical abuse, too.
am i suggesting we make adulterers pariahs, like we do wife-beaters?
i don't have any firm answers. but i know that to turn a blind eye to emotional abuse is as wrong as ignoring physical abuse.

The fact that Edwards cheated on his wife and lied to his supporters is very disappointing and troubling, but he is not trying to be the next president of the United States.

GNA!
Fact: Edwards cheated on his wife.
Fact: He didn't do it alone!

Cuba got the silver in womens judo but Romania apparently surprised them all...wonder how bay bucahnan would have done in that arena?
Sorry, Brad @ 68,
Mr. Edwards had a very public wedding. Family, friends, the minister and even the God he believes in attended. Wedding announcements in the local paper, etc. Why is it that the taking of those marriage vows can be public but the breaking of those same vows is a private and personal matter?
jakflorida32169 @ 70:
Because despite the colorful pageantry, displays of emotion and mystical religious overtones, the contract is still only about the contracted parties.
I have a great idea.
Let's only allow virgins to run for political office.
Not just nation wide, but world wide.
Then the people of the planet can get on with living their lives and politicians can continue to do for us what they have always done.
Nothing.

Frankly my dears, I don't give a damn!
Brad @ 71:
Point taken, but you conveniently ignore one important fact: John Edwards chose to run for political office, thus making himself a person of public interest, thus opening up his life for public scrutiny. As the saying goes: If you don't want people talking about what's in your house, then don't invite them in. Whether a contract exists or not, the elements of his life (of which that contract is a part) became of public interest by his invitation when he chose to run for POTUS. Its too late to claim privacy now.

The scale of values in this country has been so out of whack for so long, basically since its inception really, that I doubt it is fixable.
Manners that should be private become of public interests. Whereas things and issues that should private, like most inner workings of Government, under this administration at least they have become not only private but secret even...

I want a government that can be trusted.

sorry but the path to getting rid of the bush cheny gangs been fixed , while thier may be an election this november it will most probably be rigged , they will not even try to cover it up, outraged obama supporters will then commence rioting , looting and citys being set on fire will give the bush criminals the right to setup martial law and allow them to hold onto power indefinatly, enjoy the soilent green you will be feasting on in haliburton gulags!
jakflorida32169 @ 78:
Read the first line of my opening comment. Clearly Edwards judgment is a matter of public concern. The prurient nature of our society regrettably makes it so. The details, and questions like "what about his tramp," "what kinds of sex activities" "how many strokes" can only of be of interest to the prurient minded.
Good grief!
skippy @ 37:
Nada @ 87:
Our society's equation of sexual indiscretion -- not to mention sex in general -- with horrific crimes against the public will never cease to amaze me. It just isn't true that someone who cannot be trusted to remain faithful to his wife necessarily cannot be trusted with anything else. It does not follow to think so. It is stupid to think so.
Let it be.
Keeping safe distance from you.
Brad @ 92:
Who is perfect, folks?
I was hoping this was the Pilobolus spoof by Joel Goddard. Much more entertaining than this.
Damn him for letting us down.
