On CNN, Rachel Campus Duffy, a Repub. 'mom blogger' (or the chick that dated Puck on RW San Francisco) just knocked Biden for being a Senator for little 'ole Delaware.
Hey RCD, aside from Joe being head of the Foreign Relations Comm, Delaware's population is almost 200,000 more than Alaska's.
All I can say right now is the trolls came out in droves today and boy, are they sucking up everything the neocons are shoveling to them. Gawd, what gullible people.
Palin is McCain's "heck of a job Brownie", someone put in a position of trust and responsibility who lacks qualifications. He's simply duplicating Bush's cronisms on a far grander scale.

Everyone would be much less upset about Cindy McCain's $300,000 outfit the other night if they had seen her first choice, her Dalmatian-puppy-fur coat...
Oh, she has one. You know she does. I bet she skinned them herself.

Made from real gorilla chest....
She just came off as a negative no body of no substance... other then saying that her party is a bunch of Shite and she had to clean them out of government. I'm mean really... running an entire campaign that bashes her own party as being corrupt and then saying made up things about Obama. It's just plain sick!

I just read that the person who wrote that USWeekly cover story about Palin, the story that has encouraged all sorts of outrage from Fox News, is a McCain supporter. I saw that in an editorial she (Mara Reinstein) wrote on Huffington Post.
That got me to thinking. I don't know exactly what type of magazine US Magazine is, but I suspect it is a celebrity/gossip type magazine. Isn't that what these types of magazines do....report on celebrity gossip?
I thought about this some more. I seem to recall that cable outlets, in particular one Fox News, had almost non-stop coverage of Anna Nicole Smith and her baby and the death of her son and possible drug involvement. Non-stop; 24 hours a day; severals weeks worth.
Now isn't a baby a baby, regardless if it is born to a true celebrity like Anna Nicole Smith or is born to a soon-to-be celebrity like Sarah Palin? I can understand why people might not like US Magazine reporting on the Palin story, and I can understand why they would despise that they did. But I wonder if these same people also despise what that so-called "fair and balanced" cable channel did in reporting on Anna Nicole Smith's baby????
I saw Cal Thomas on Faux News this afternoon talking about "media bias" and using the US Magazine story as an example. Seems to me he is manufacturing a little bit of outrage here and showing his bias.
Trust the Yanks to give the world a gun owning, butt-kicking Artic Circle Redneck who kills animals for laughs, wants creationism in schools, is pro-war and,
if old man Mcbush gets elected and snuffs it, will become the head Honcho of the planet's biggest military machine.
Pollster John Zogby: "Clearly, Palin is helping the McCain ticket. She has high favorability numbers, and has unified the Republican Party. The striking thing here in this poll is that McCain has pulled ahead among Catholics by double-digits. On the other hand, Palin is not helping with likely voting women who are not aligned with either political party. The undecided independent women voters decreased this week from 15% to 7%, but those women went to Obama. Palin is also helping among men, conservatives, notably with suburban and rural voters, and with frequent Wal-Mart shoppers, who tend to be "values" voters who like a good value for their money."

Of course, there wouldn't be an outrage if the MSM didn't create the outrage.
(Political Animal) OBAMA ON THE OFFENSIVE.... It looks like Barack Obama's intent on starting the stretch run on an aggressive note. He added a few sections to his stump speech today that I hadn't heard before.
First, he took on John McCain's latest effort to present himself as an agent of change. "[S]uddenly he's the change agent," Obama said. "He says, 'I'm going to tell those lobbyists that their days of running Washington are over.' Who's he going to tell? Is he going to tell his campaign chairman, who's one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he gonna tell his campaign manager who was one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he gonna to tell all the folks who are running his campaign who are the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Who, who is it that he's going to tell that change is coming? I mean, come on. They must think you're stupid."
And in a real change of pace, Obama also sought to undermine one of Sarah Palin's central claims. "I know the governor of Alaska has been, you know, saying she is change," Obama said. "And that is great. She is a skillful politician. But when you've been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change, come on!" Obama said. "I mean, words mean something. You can't just make stuff up. You can't just make stuff up. We have a choice to make and the choice is clear."
Rumor had it the Obama campaign planned to ignore Palin altogether. If today was any indication, that's not the case.
Everyone would be much less upset about Cindy McCain's $300,000 outfit the other night if they had seen her first choice, her Dalmatian-puppy-fur coat...

Yes, it's getting more clear than ever. If McCain will be elected, "stupid" is what the US has become. And whatever comes over it, nobody will care anymore.

There's a fundamental split in Christianity between those who believe that Salvation is ONLY for the Chosen People, and those who believe Salvation is available to anyone.
And therein lies the difference between those who believe America is the Land of The Chosen Few, and those of us who believe "America" is a belief that ALL PEOLE Are Created Equal, Endowed By WHATEVER Created Us With UnAlienable Rights ...
can anyone give me a good logical response on this:why is it NOT okay to inquire/question/challenge governor palin about her shared parenting of 4-5 children. one of these children is a Down syndrome newborn. why are we being told it's sexist and off limits by the likes of carly f. i've heard men aren't ask similar question(s).
the reason i'm somewhat interested.i have a hunch there are certain people(mostly women?)who have concern maybe don't approve because the know all to well what it takes to raise 1 child... and now to campaign to be second in charge of the united states
and possibly president. personally i believe in gender equality but some people don't.

straight out of machiavelli isn't it, always be accusing you opponent of the wrongs you actually do, also, attack their best points, then emulate them and claim them as your own... anyone have a list of just what ideas/strategies altogether mccain has copied from obama and then play out as if they're his idea... additionally, the current state of the union, somehow, is the fault of eastern liberals, huh? can that actually fly?
maybe obvious question is, will sex sell, to the point of winning an election, is it really that simple? are we, collectively, that dumb?

Sarah Palins Church Promotes Converting Gays
Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.
I just took another look and they call her Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate...
The Wasilla church where Democratic vice presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, attends is promoting a program that promises to convert homosexuals to heterosexuals through the power of Jesus Christ and prayer.

Nope! Palin never did ban any books. She used it as a loyalty test to see who opposed her and fire them. Vicious bitch ain't she? She'll fit right in with the GOP crowd in Washington now in Bush's third term with McSame.
Here's the story about Palin's book-banning try as mayor
By Rindi White | Anchorage Daily News
Excerpt:
WASILLA -- Back in 1996, when she first became mayor, Sarah Palin asked the city librarian if she would be all right with censoring library books should she be asked to do so.
According to news coverage at the time, the librarian said she would definitely not be all right with it. A few months later, the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, got a letter from Palin telling her she was going to be fired. The censorship issue was not mentioned as a reason for the firing. The letter just said the new mayor felt Emmons didn't fully support her and had to go.
Emmons had been city librarian for seven years and was well liked. After a wave of public support for her, Palin relented and let Emmons keep her job.
It all happened 12 years ago and the controversy long ago disappeared into musty files. Until this week. Under intense national scrutiny, the issue has returned to dog her. It has been mentioned in news stories in Time Magazine and The New York Times and is spreading like a virus through the blogosphere.
The stories are all suggestive, but facts are hard to come by. Did Palin actually ban books at the Wasilla Public Library?
In December 1996, Emmons told her hometown newspaper, the Frontiersman, that Palin three times asked her -- starting before she was sworn in -- about possibly removing objectionable books from the library if the need arose.
Emmons told the Frontiersman she flatly refused to consider any kind of censorship. Emmons, now Mary Ellen Baker, is on vacation from her current job in Fairbanks and did not return e-mail or telephone messages left for her Wednesday.
SNIP!
Four days before the exchange at the City Council, Emmons got a letter from Palin asking for her resignation. Similar letters went to police chief Irl Stambaugh, public works director Jack Felton and finance director Duane Dvorak. John Cooper, a fifth director, resigned after Palin eliminated his job overseeing the city museum.
Palin told the Anchorage Daily News then that the letters were just a test of loyalty as she took on the mayor's job, which she'd won from three-term mayor John Stein in a hard-fought election. Stein had hired many of the department heads. Both Emmons and Stambaugh had publicly supported him against Palin.
Pollster John Zogby: "Clearly, Palin is helping the McCain ticket. She has high favorability numbers, and has unified the Republican Party. The striking thing here in this poll is that McCain has pulled ahead among Catholics by double-digits. The people I know who consider themselves 'deeply' (ha!) religious have this mindset: anything they believe is right, anyone who disagrees with them on any issue is an agent of satan and must be either saved or destroyed. "We know the bible is 100% true because it says so in the bible!"
I live in Mississippi. It truly feels like a cult. The people I encounter in daily life, probably better than 90% of them fall into one of two groups: there are the true believers, and there are those who pretend to believe because to do otherwise would be either dangerous or have other negative repercussions (loss of business, loss of social standing, etc.) NO ONE will openly admit they don't believe what everyone else believes, a very few will admit it in private. Job postings in the one local paper say things like "WANTED: Good Christian woman for bookkeeping position..."

She's got good insight and that's a good sign. The folks at my wife's Catholic church aren't buying it at all. My fishing buddies who are conservative vets think McCain is a p*ssy for caving. They think McCain thinks we're all stupid. I tend to agree.

Years ago, I experienced the same. People who have not experienced "true believers" cannot even begin to imagine the deep roots of this mindset. Or, the hostility and maliciousness that emerges if they suspect you do not share their point of view. Just the thought that a "true believer" is now running for such high office is enough to make you break into cold sweat.
We Hope the Obama Campaign is Keeping James Carville as Far Away as Possible. In Bob Woodward's Last Book (Not the Upcoming One), He Revealed that Carville Tipped off the White House, Through His Wife (Mary Matalin), in 2006 that Kerry Was Going to Contest the Provisional Ballots in Ohio. Matalin Told Cheney and Then Bush, with the Information, Called the Infamous Former Ohio Sec. of State Kenneth Blackwell to Block the Kerry Effort and, as in Florida 2000, Preemptively Make Bush the Winner in Ohio. What are the Dems Doing Still Keeping Carville Around? This is As Low a Betrayal as It Gets. Matalin's Got Junkyard Carville By the Balls, That's for Sure. And Remember that Carville and Matalin Both Signed a Letter to the Court About What a Great Guy Scooter Libby is. 9/7
Yeah and Bristol Palin is the mother of Trig. Lots of noise out there. Reminds me of a whisper campaign in SC in 2000. Except this time it's being used to help Palin. And guess who's running the McCain campaign. The same guys. Be wary folks. Lots of crap like this is going to come out. It's a trap.

Granted the school is on the blue side of WA but it's in an area that has a strong conservative element and apparently the youth from that area aren't impressed.
She's got good insight and that's a good sign. The folks at my wife's Catholic church aren't buying it at all. My fishing buddies who are conservative vets think McCain is a p*ssy for caving. They think McCain thinks we're all stupid. I tend to agree.
zogby usually does not show the actual poll itself, because they are virtually unreadable.
the last zogby poll that I actually saw the questions to pertained to democratic approval ratings. A particular question stood out: [paraphrased]" If Osama Bin Laden posessed a nuclear bomb and was threatening an american city, would you vote for a democrat or a republican?"
They have a problem. Nobody from the campaign has challenged their story.
Obama takes his first swing, while Clinton chooses to low-ball it. An Alaskan Republican hates a Dem doing his job, by investigating Palin. He'd rather she have a chance to win than be held accountable. The FBI's been too lazy to go after Civil Rights-era hate crimes. Obama and McCain differ
on the Fannie/Freddie crisis.

Absolutely, that garbage is right up there with McCain starting the flight deck fire on the Forestall and making propaganda videos while in captivity. Be very, very careful what you jump on and spread around. We have so much legitimate, factual material to use against these freaks they will do everything they can to discredit us if we don't vett sensationalistic material properly before we post it.

We have to worry about the media but, the media does have a right to ask. They will blame them as the far left media. I hope people are waking up.

What McCain expects is for Palin to emerge two weeks from now, and "fire up the base" again to boost the polls. The republicans are not happy with John Bush, and people are starting to catch on to Palin.

I work in a very wealthy area that is 99% white. The kids there give me hope. The vast majority of them hate Bush, and have little use for the republican party. Many of these upper middle class kids have seen what the repukes did to their parents, and they detest them for it.
They are also very accepting of Obama, gays, and quite intolerant of intolerance. Maybe there is hope for America once the disgusting baby boomer me, myself, and I republican's are gone.
Well it's now proven her lie about the Airplane being sold on EBAY , yet with great audacity and nerve PALIN continues the misinformation by saying " I put it on sale on Ebay " today .
WHY ?
She knows
A. it wasn't sold on EBAY
B. it was sold at a LOST
C. Allegedly to a campaign contributor
So instead of dropping the lie completely about selling the airplane , she insinuates it was sold on EBAY , when it failed to sell . Along with TROOPER GATE and the possible ABUSE of POWER , it shows she has a problem with the TRUTH and not behaving like a thug with power .
Please sign and help circulate this petition! The simple act of emailing it helps build awareness that the McCain campaign is "hiding" her from direct questions.
Thanks.
We request you provide the citizens of the United States with the opportunity to see Governor Palin interviewed by a variety of news media outlets.
This election is a crucial one to us in terms of a wide range of domestic and foreign policy issues. Given the current concerns about numerous topics including health care, the rise in unemployment, the tense relations between Russia and Georgia, and the ongoing war in Iraq, it is neither sufficient nor acceptable that we hear Governor Palin's opinions and ideas only through pre-written speeches, press releases and select interviews with "soft" and "friendly" news sources such as People magazine and Fox News...[for rest of text, click link above]

bad...but if it's a dirty deal i want her caught and the maverick can fxxking explain it.
This the list of books that Palin tried to ban from the public libraries whilw she was Mayor:
[Scroll up]
Also:
Catch-22 (it confuses the fuck out of them)
Animal farm (They can't stand to be associated with pigs)
1984 (It reveals the future that the repugs have for America)
20,000 leagues under the sea.
The chronicles of Narnia (not religious enough)
Books allowed:
Mein kampf!
Huck Finn is on that list twice(under two different titles) but Letters from the Earth and Twain's Remarks on the Science of Onanism are okay? It's a good thing they're so dumb; this list should be a lot longer.
Palin is a distraction from the real issues. Do not be fooled.
I don't care if more wars break out. It's still no reason to vote for a republican. TThat would be insanity.
Are you drunk? You don't care if there's more wars??
What I mean is regardless of what they do for an October surprise whether starting more wars or whatever they plan, people can't be scared into voting for a republican. Not even for congress or the senate. Sorry Mike if you think I;m drunk.
The list is not true. The Harry Potter books werent written when she was mayor. It is however, a common list of books that people do try to ban for whatever reason.

If this were true, Karl Rove would make that kid "disappear" and not be able to make this video.
And if you notice, he said he was father of the yet to be born baby, not Trig.

Guys, don't be ridiculous - that is just generic list of books that have been banned somewhere at some time in history - if that - it's bogus
Now, in a worldwide exclusive, the REAL list has been leaked here - with pictures!

I don't think this is real. Note the release dates of the Harry Potter books. This was supposed to have taken place in 1997 or 1998 and these books weren't out then.
Was this meant to be a joke and I'm being too serious?
I agree, but I think he was trying to dive into the cleavage a few times.
His campaign wants him to appear virile, like Captain Cod-Piece. Seen him doing bodybuilder crab-pose for cameras, in jest. Not enough to demonstrate that his genitals worked in the past, by presenting offspring. At his age, with his diminished appearance and health, he has to compensate. Obama gets photographed bodysurfing and being athletic and natural, so McCane must posture unnaturally.

That Zogby poll also shows that McCain was up by about 2.5 points a week ago, before the RNC started. Most polls are a result of a "rolling average"....that is, results averaged over a few days. I think Rasmussen and Gallup take 3 days. Don't really know how Zogby reports it.
How much stock do you all really put into polls? Many people nowadays dont have land lines to be polled in the first place. Most of which would most likely be voting for Obama.

who's being fooled the mccain's campaign manager rick davis came out and said it's about character/personality....not issues it's also culture people will stay with their party of the past and/or who they think they relate to...if it was about issues there would be a lot less division.

A bodybuilder at the beach told McCain that if he put a potato in his trunks at the beach Palin would join him on the ticket. McCain shoved a potato in his trunks and went to the beach early to see how the other women would react. They all started laughing and pointing at him, not at all what he expected. He sees the bodybuilder and cries out to him that all the women were laughing at him. The bodybuilder takes one look and tells McCain, "You're supposed to put the potato in the front of your trunks, not the back."

Exactly, Palin is a joke as VP. She's being used as a diversion, to frame the debate away from issues.
It is clear that Palin, her family and the entire state of Alaska have much to gain from high energy prices and our continued dependence on fossil fuels. Palin is Cheney in a dress.
Dems should be more strongly linking Palin to the Bush-Cheney-Big Oil cabal that rushed the US into Iraq, denies global warming, under funds alternative fuel development, refuses to include conservation in energy policy, derails international environmental cooperation, coddles terrorist underwriters in the House of Saud, etc. Review of Palin's RNC speech transcript reveals over 20 paragraphs related to oil and energy -- almost 2 pages of the ten page transcript. I list the direct quotes below. Here is the full transcript
She can mention oil & gas 20 times, but not mention healthcare, mortgage crisis, unemployment, education, veterans benefits, immigration, etc.
She only mentions alternative energy in one of the 20 points.
Palin = the same dead end energy policy of the last 8 years. Do we really want a surrogate for ExxonMobil in the White House beyond January 2009?
Palin defaults to oil, gas, pipelines, drilling, etc. for talking points on any number of unrelated issues. Example: On taxes, she mentions that she lowered the fuel tax (who do you think lobbied for that one) and that her sister just opened a gas station and will be hurt by Obama's tax plan.
Charlie Rose interviewed Palin and AZ gov Napolitano several months ago (before Palin was on McCains VP list). Rose asks them about the key issues facing their states. Napolitano cites education and immigration. Palin cites oil drilling restrictions. When he pushes her to comment on health care, she actually says (paraphrase), "Healthcare is huge. It is huge. Huge. So much so that I can't even begin to discuss it on this talk show." Rose sees that she doesn't have a clue and bails her out. Embarrassing for Alaska. Can someone find the transcript? This is a great example of Palin's hollowed out policy stance on a primary voter issue.
Palin prays for God to help get a gas pipeline funded by the Feds.
Only a gov from a state where 'oil & gas' is king could say so much about energy in a national VP acceptance speech. She is a one trick pony: oil. Imagine if 20% of Obama's speech included references to ethanol and telecom topics: major Illinois industries...
The Palin oil quotes:
• [My husband is] a production operator in the oil fields of Alaska's North Slope.
• …when I stood up to the special interests, the lobbyists, big oil companies, and the good-ol' boys network.
• I suspended the state fuel tax.
• When oil and gas prices went up dramatically, and filled up the state treasury, I sent a large share of that revenue back where it belonged — directly to the people of Alaska.
• And despite fierce opposition from oil company lobbyists, who kind of liked things the way they were, we broke their monopoly on power and resources.
• I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history.
• And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly 40 billion-dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence.
• That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.
• When a hurricane strikes in the Gulf of Mexico, this country should not be so dependent on imported oil that we are forced to draw from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
• And families cannot throw away more and more of their paychecks on gas and heating oil.
• With Russia wanting to control a vital pipeline in the Caucasus, and to divide and intimidate our European allies by using energy as a weapon, we cannot leave ourselves at the mercy of foreign suppliers.
• To confront the threat that Iran might seek to cut off nearly a fifth of world energy supplies ... or that terrorists might strike again at the Abqaiq facility in Saudi Arabia ... or that Venezuela might shut off its oil deliveries ... we Americans need to produce more of our own oil and gas.
• And take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska: We've got lots of both.
• Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems — as if we all didn't know that already.
• But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.
• Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines ... build more nuclear plants ... create jobs with clean coal ... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal and other alternative sources.
• We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers.
• America needs more energy ... our opponent is against producing it.
• My sister Heather and her husband have just built a service station that's now opened for business — like millions of others who run small businesses. How are they going to be any better off if taxes go up?
• Or maybe you're trying to keep your job at a plant in Michigan or Ohio ... or create jobs with clean coal from Pennsylvania or West Virginia ...

Yea, I have a hard time believing that the race can even be this close..
But then again, I also find it hard to believe that every presidential election was a virtual 50/50 split the past 20 years or so.. I still dont understand how that's possible..

Sorry to be off-topic, but does anyone know where I can download a high quality copy of Joe Biden's speech from the Democratic National Convention? I've got a good copy of Obama's speech (and of McCain and Palin's speeches), and need to complete the set.
Okay, so we've had Palin actually being the grandmother of Trig, the "Sambo" comment, and now the black father of Bristol's baby. Folks, it's time to stroll down memory lane and see what McCain's campaign did to their client in South Carolina in 2000. Same tactics, different goal, different technology.
I don't think I made it clear in the previous post but the same people who smeared McCain in 2000 are now running the McCain campaign in 2008. Just thought I'd clarify.
Wow, this kid comes across as really believable. Guess we'll be finding out soon enough. Oh no we won't. By the time this baby's born, I think the whole Palin bunch will be back in Alaska. Maybe this young man is lying but it sure doesn't seem like it. If it's true, I worry about him. As they say, Palin doesn't let anyone or anything stand in her way to get what she wants.
Brad Friedman of www.bradblog.com has a bunch of great articles on the Republican attempts to control the vote in 2008. He's on the ball and we need to get the troops motivated and get the word out.. do what you can.

CLAIRTON, Pa. - Five days a week, Linda Graham trolls tattered neighborhoods of this once thriving steel city outside Pittsburgh for unregistered voters she can sign up as Democrats — one of thousands of unknown volunteers whose work outside the limelight has already altered the basic arithmetic of the November election. ..
Since the last federal election in 2006, volunteers like Graham combined with the enthusiasm generated by the Obama-Clinton struggle to add more than 2 million Democrats to voter rolls in the 28 states that register voters according to party affiliation. The Republicans have lost nearly 344,000 thousand voters in the same states. ..
found something rather interesting, a Dutch company that has come up with a whisper quiet wind turbine.
called the 'Energy Ball' 85% compared to traditional ones which give a 65% output.
The company has monster amount of photos and some tech drawings on its website,
so anybody with some mech skills could make their own, or at least try out a scale version.
(for non commercial, home use of course)
We should be seeing quiet a few of these popping up around the world in the near future.
They have a 3' version (500W), and plan to make a series of bigger ones.

This angers me because he is an opportunist who changes with the wind. He's no better than LIEberman in a lot of capacities.
I would say what I think about Carville's traitorous moves, but I would rather err on the side of Dem loyalty right now.
The only other thing I'd say is that it is high time for the Dems to clean house so that we can go in a new direction instead of those who prefer to cozy up to the enemy.

looks rovian to me!
Theres only one way to quell the rumors, open up the various medical records, medical tests, dna, all that malarky.
One thing that puzzled me over Sarah Palin having tests for Downs Syndrome,
as shes pro life, she coundnt abort no matter what the outcome.
So why do the tests in the first place ! seems redundant.
If you want more of the same failed Bush policies vote McCain.
If you like how Cheney had his hidden agenda as VP vote Palin.
If you want change and very good efficient government vote Obama and Biden for 08

This is should be at the top of every Dem strategist's primer for the 2008 election. We've got to go for those undecideds and quickly. I'm sure they're the ones that are being taken in with Palin being the "Feminist Icon" instead of the filthy-mouthed, lying, disreputable politician that she truly is.
This is not beyond the Dem's playbook to start with an army of ads trying to educate the public aobut this woman while depersonalizing her at the same time. It is not swift-boating to attack her credentials, her lack of voting record and outright behavior as govenor and mayor.
With her attitude, I don't think she has the emotional maturity, nor gravitas to lead because of her history of poor decision making as well as her (I mention again) lack of self-control. I'd also think that they would start equating this woman to a dangerous pick because of her affiliations to questionable groups (i.e. the abortion and separatist groups, for example).
If they want a comparison between her and Obama (which I abhor, but it is an inevitability), go for academic records. Compare his academic record with hers to show that she is an intellectual lightweight who cannot compare to a man (and his wife) who have a more broadened academic experience as well as more degrees that she does.

[She wanted to ban books that hadn't been published yet? See Harry Potter publish dates compared to her service dates as mayor. The librarian in question retired in 1999. Come on. Be careful here-Sitemonitor]
What a great picture. Now they should put a picture of McCain, Bush and Cheney and call it "Larry, Curly and Moe.
The irony of this piece is that (contrary to his speech bubble) the choice of Palin is a textbook Rovian move.

Bad news from Zogby
http://zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1548
McCain-Palin 49.7%
Obama-Biden 45.9%

Not enough to demonstrate that his genitals worked in the past, by presenting offspring. At his age, with his diminished appearance and health, he has to compensate. Obama gets photographed bodysurfing and being athletic and natural, so McCane must posture unnaturally.
gorn @ 107:
That Zogby poll also shows that McCain was up by about 2.5 points a week ago, before the RNC started. Most polls are a result of a "rolling average"....that is, results averaged over a few days. I think Rasmussen and Gallup take 3 days. Don't really know how Zogby reports it.
How much stock do you all really put into polls? Many people nowadays dont have land lines to be polled in the first place. Most of which would most likely be voting for Obama.
Ron @ 105:
I kind of wish I were drunk, though, with all of the repuglican crap going on right now.
Mike @ 98:
who's being fooled the mccain's campaign manager rick davis came out and said it's about character/personality....not issues it's also culture people will stay with their party of the past and/or who they think they relate to...if it was about issues there would be a lot less division.
Brad @ 113:
A bodybuilder at the beach told McCain that if he put a potato in his trunks at the beach Palin would join him on the ticket. McCain shoved a potato in his trunks and went to the beach early to see how the other women would react. They all started laughing and pointing at him, not at all what he expected. He sees the bodybuilder and cries out to him that all the women were laughing at him. The bodybuilder takes one look and tells McCain, "You're supposed to put the potato in the front of your trunks, not the back."
Mike @ 115:
None. Unless it's the polls one votes at.
Polls, like statistics (because they ARE stats) can be bent any way the pollster chooses. They're all bullshit. Especially now.
constituent @ 117:
Exactly, Palin is a joke as VP. She's being used as a diversion, to frame the debate away from issues.
Stick to the issues.
Here is the full
transcript

An interesting alternative to "polls" .. political prediction markets:
MSNBC: BYE-BYE TO THE BOUNCE?
btw .. obama leads mccain almost 60 to 40 by this metric.
David in MI @ 121:
No. Palin is 'Ronald Reagan in a dress' but Just don't take MY word for it...
MountainMan23 @ 123:
Wow.. thanks for that link. Didnt know there were so many ways to gamble on the elections
These are the important statistics, I think:
In the 2004 US Presidential elections
217,767,000 were eligible to vote.
167,802,660 registered to vote (77% of eligible voters).
122,293,548 voted (56% of eligible voters; 73% of registered voters).
Only 56% of eligible voters voted.
62,040,610 voted for Bush: 28% of eligible voters.
59,028,439 voted for Kerry: 27% of eligible voters.
95,473,452 eligible voters did not vote: 44% of eligible voters.
Two lessons:
#1) 28% of the eligible voters voted for Bush. The "28%-ers" are ALL THEY NEEDED.
#2) TURNOUT MATTERS.
I compiled the data from:
Dave Leip's Atlas of US Presidential Elections

Very good analysis...get out and vote!!!!!!!
Sorry to be off-topic, but does anyone know where I can download a high quality copy of Joe Biden's speech from the Democratic National Convention? I've got a good copy of Obama's speech (and of McCain and Palin's speeches), and need to complete the set.
Thanks in advance,
Terry

Excellent data. Good topic. Should be spread from now up until the morning of Nov. 4th!!!
MSNBC (AP) - Democrats post big gains in voter registration
Looking hopeful ..
I mentioned this in another thread but it bears repeating.
Here in rural Virginia the Evangelical Churches have pancake breakfasts on election days, and make sure all their people get to the polls.
That's the opposition, and they are very well organized.
'Pygmailion Revisited' very funny
Would the great Senator from Arizona like to share some jokes about Gov Palin's family members? As he did of Chelsea Clinton.
Come on John, have another beer and do some more stand up. You are better at it than representing those that voted for you.
found something rather interesting, a Dutch company that has come up with a whisper quiet wind turbine.
called the 'Energy Ball' 85% compared to traditional ones which give a 65% output.
The company has monster amount of photos and some tech drawings on its website,
so anybody with some mech skills could make their own, or at least try out a scale version.
(for non commercial, home use of course)
their website
We should be seeing quiet a few of these popping up around the world in the near future.
They have a 3' version (500W), and plan to make a series of bigger ones.

that's the key, isn't it? poll all but Obama voter groups.

If you want change and very good efficient government vote Obama and Biden for 08
MountainMan23 @ 126:
Compare his academic record with hers to show that she is an intellectual lightweight who cannot compare to a man (and his wife) who have a more broadened academic experience as well as more degrees that she does.
ferrofluid (Obama + Biden = 2008) @ 147:
I was reading about this somewhere else and something really interesting came up about this issue: it all comes down to publishing the birth certificate. If she wanted to quash baby-gate, why didn't she make the birth certificate public?
