Narcissists always see boundaries as a challenge, and former President Donald Trump went there in front of a private Republican National Committee donor event at Mar-a-Lago, likening the Biden administration to the Gestapo, the secret police force of Nazi Germany. Trump also called Jack Smith a "fucking asshole" and lobbed insults at prosecutors. He also called Smith an "evil thug," "deranged," and someone who is "unattractive both inside and out" as well, according to HuffPost.

Jake Tapper asked possible VP pick for Trump, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who was there at Mar-a-Lago, about the comparison to Nazis, and he seemed OK with that.

"You were there with Donald Trump last night at Mar-a-Lago, where he claimed Biden was like the Gestapo, referring to the Nazi secret police," Tapper said. "Are you comfortable with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee comparing the Biden administration to the Gestapo?"

"Well, Jake, first, great to be with you," Burgum said. "And I would say yesterday, we had an opportunity to listen to the president talk for 90 minutes without a teleprompter covering a wide range of topics and largely very upbeat, because if the election was held today, Trump would be winning."

Note: Trump calling the Biden administration the Gestapo and Jack Smith a "fucking asshole" is not "upbeat."

"And relative to the reference you're discussing, I mean, this was a short comment deep into the thing that wasn't really central to what he was talking about," Burgum said. "But I understand when, and I think Americans understand, a majority of Americans feel like the trial that he's in right now is politically motivated. And if it was anybody else, this trial wouldn't even be happening."

"So, I understand that he feels like he's being unfairly treated," he continued. "And I think that it's reasonable that someone who's being kept off the campaign trail as the presumptive nominee has got some frustration about that.

"So a public trial with witnesses, a jury, a defense council, that's like the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police? Tapper asked.

"Well, he certainly didn't say that yesterday, and he wasn't referring to this trial when he made that comment," the GOP governor said. "But I do think that people understand that; I mean, I'm a business guy."

"This is a business filing case," he continued. "If it was anybody other than a presidential candidate, this would be a misdemeanor."

Note: Trump is accused of falsifying "New York business records in order to conceal an illegal conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 presidential election and other violations of election laws," said Assistant District Attorney Christopher Conroy. That's not the same as jaywalking.

"How it got turned into 34 felonies when there isn't even the alleged crime, which is they haven't even convinced anybody there was a crime," he falsely said. "But if it were, it would be a Federal Election Commission crime, and that would be pursued by the federal courts, not by a county DA in New York. And so I think, again, Americans, the outcome of this trial doesn't affect them."

It is so cringe when Republicans fall in line to get Trump's attention to be part of his administration. It's as if they're all performing fellatio in public to see who can kiss his ass more.
