The elites get behind closed doors and decided 'revolution' will hurt the sheep's little brains. Time magazine is a joke, a piece of American propaganda disguised as the all wise 'time'. Good for toilet paper too.
Is it the 21st century yet?
Is Time Magazine not aware that we have seen the man behind the curtain, and it is futile to play the same games any longer. It's only a matter of time now before every intellectually challenged ditto head knows it too. Same goes for FOX LIES.

You're dead wrong gonf......it's no good as ass wipe and it's wrong size for the bird cage or the cat box, you're hard pressed to even get a fire lit with it..........fact is it's good for nothing.

What are Amato defenders and why do they need to defend John Amato?

I don't believe anyone here is trying to make the argument that Time doesn't have the right to show the world whatever cover it wants. The argument is that Time's choice of a different cover shows it's disdain for it's US readership. But, you are right. Time (and John Amato) have the right to decide what content is displayed under their name.
Last time I picked up a Time magazine, it was only 8 pages long, and 2 of those were the front and back cover.
The cover shows its bootlicking for the corporate rulers in this country.
There's always free cheddar in the mousetrap, baby. - Tom Waits
And they're writing articles they don't mind if the rest of the world sees, but not Americans. I've seen this situation before (live overseas). You're right about them being 8 pages. I look at it in the airport and then put it back on the rack.

Approximately half the electorate in this country are pea-brained reality deniers .
Time got that right. They know their readers. Maybe Man of the Year will be the little guy on the cover.

Fabulous! It's the new American motto!
Get used to it, proles.

I guess waiters won't have to bother you with those pepper mills any longer. Now there's the spray on kind.

It's time for the stuffed shirts on Wall Street and in congress to feel anxiety for a change. They have nothing to worry about - Time Magazine says it will be good for them. It's time for Time-Warner to feel some of that anxiety too.

"It is the purpose of the First Amendment to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, rather than to countenance monopolization of that market, whether it be by the Government itself or a private licensee. It is the right of the public to receive suitable access to social, political, esthetic, moral, and other ideas and experiences which is crucial here. That right may not constitutionally be abridged either by Congress or by the FCC. " - 395 U.S. 367
I've posted this here before, and will probably post it again. It is important to not rely on a particular source, or a particular origin/country to get all of one's news. As the Time covers illustrate, a different story is being pitched to different audiences. If one relies on a single originating location such as the U.S., viewpoints that don't support corporate welfare may be deemed "off the table".
We know that the U.S. media was complicit in marketing the war with Iraq. In December 2002, a majority of Americans, myself included only supported war with Iraq if the U.N. supported war with Iraq. But, media originating in the U.S. persuaded a majority of the public to support war with Iraq by March 2003. They didn't persuade me. Part of the reason was that I was relying on media abroad.
Here's a trip down memory lane, an example of media I was relying on, even back then. I think it was the night before the war.

Getting the news is gotta be like investing. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Don't invest in one stock or one market segment. Translating to news, don't listen to one news company, or news out of just one country.
doesn't seem to work for me this time. Got it saved anyway. Thanks.

I found this link to old Time magazine covers:
http://www.reddit.com/tb/mpk5s
They really are the magazine of the 1%. Didn't they change their man of the year result once because the snobs didn't want a wrestler on the cover?
And the 1%, with their limos and caviar,
Drove around puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
They came without tents! they came without bongos!
"They came without generators, libraries or longjohns!"
And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.
Then the 1% thought of something they hadn't before!
"Maybe #Occupy," they thought, "doesn't come from a store.
"Maybe #Occupy...perhaps...means a little bit more!"

Time Magazine has actually pegged the American public fairly well...because the truth of the matter is that a majority of people in this country still are "pea-brained reality deniers" who can't see past the tips of their own noses (and can't see the choke collars which every last one of us has already been metaphorically fitted with simply because they haven't been seriously tightened yet).

Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
But I can't understand how Huntsman swallows his pride and appears on the same stage with these charlatans. He must be there for some reward bigger than the ambassadorship of China. It seems to me anyone with any self respect would not participate. You know, birds of a feather flock together.
Doe anyone have any insights?

media desertification.
I was a high school exchange student in Italy during the 1986-1987 academic year. Even back then, the cover stories for the US and international versions of Time and Newsweek magazine varied greatly. At the impressionable at of 16, it opened my eyes to just how much the US readers were not being told about issues that could and did impact them.

Revolution sells and is encouraged everywhere else, but in the good old U.S. of A, not so much. The US media has fallen so far that I don't think they'll ever be able to get up.I'd hate to think where thinking americans would be right now without our inter-webs.
This isn't the first instance where TIME put a different cover story on the USA edition of their rag. You want proof that corporate America is controlling the dissemination of information? Here it is.
