The truth is that if we are LUCKY we are discovering the TRUTH about what is going on in the world if we dig and cram and research day and night (like finding out about Israel and the terrorist organization MEK being in cahoots by assassinating Iranian scientists etc.):

And that is merely the TIP OF THE ICEBERG.
Imagining what else the U.S. government/Congress (that we are FINANCING WITH OUR TAXES!!!) is withholding from us makes me freakin' DIZZY!!!

First up, a very interesting article from the Financial Times which argues that the cause of sovereign debt problems in the US is due to the trillions of dollars in financial surpluses that corporations are sitting on with the investment to GDP ratio the lowest it has been in 60 years. The corporate cash surplus must therefore be invested to address the country's fiscal deficits:
"The conventional wisdom believes that the current sovereign debt crisis is the result of governments having been too profligate. But it is not that governments have been spending ‘too much’ that is the problem; it is that corporates have been spending ‘too little’. Moreover, because this corporate saving is the main counterpart to the government’s borrowing, until companies start to spend again, the burden of fiscal adjustment will have to fall on cutbacks in public services and higher personal taxation. It is time to shift the debate away from talking about the fiscal position, and focus instead on whether it is a shift in corporate behaviour that is responsible for the fiscal mess in the developed world."

Next up, the scariest economic chart I've seen in quite awhile showing that refinery deliveries of gasoline to gas stations is currently lower than it was in the recession of 1983: in November 1983, there were 50 million gallons delivered a day, in 1998, 67 millon gallons a day, in 2003, 66 mgd, and in November 2011, 30.9 mgd. This chart shows that US gasoline consumption by consumers has been falling since 2004. The economic analysis factors in the positive changes from increased fuel efficiency, but still comes to very troubling conclusions regarding the stress on the middle class and how it is reflected in falling gasoline consumption. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/guest-post-why-...
.. refined petroleum products ..
yes .. really ..
American refineries produce a surplus ..
So why exactly are "we" importing so much oil .. just to refine it & ship it abroad ..
Are we really "dependent" on foreign oil?
Or are the oil companies scamming us?
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
Or are the oil companies scamming us?
We KNOW this is true so I'm BUYING into your theory. Thanks for that info.

Apparently, US refineries were net exporters in 2011 of 1 million barrels per day. http://eprinc.org/?p=892
I'd heard it from a news source (The Real News Network, I think) but didn't have the facts in front of me,
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
that remains in plain sight but still disappears down the memory hole.
I don't know if the general public would be too happy to find out that US refineries are exporting a million gallons of gasoline a day. We might start asking pesky questions such as why that gasoline isn't instead reducing our dependence on foreign oil as well as the price of gas at the pump. It would also put the lie to the little GOP "drill baby, drill" circle jerk that they trot out all the time. Imagine what would happen to the price of gas if we discovered an additional supply glut of one million gallons a day?
If you want a glimpse of the potential fall trajectory in gas prices check out the price disparity for pump prices in Cushing, Oklahoma, currently @ $3.27 per gallon (the delivery point for West Texas Intermediate crude) while the national average sits at $3.47. http://www.oklahomagasprices.com/Cushing/inde...

Enough people in Oklahoma know fully well that the bombing was more than what they were told. But how many people are going to support them in that realization. not enough.
