Todd Palin’s half-sister was arrested Thursday after police say she broke into a Wasilla home for the second time this week to steal money.
Palin is the husband of Gov. Sarah Palin. He declined comment.
Diana Palin, 35, entered a home near Wasilla’s Multi-Use Sports Complex and attempted to steal cash from the owner’s bedroom, police said.
She also broke into the same house on Tuesday and stole $400, they said.

they really take their white trash roles seriously up in Alaska.
What a bunch of degenerates that whole clan is...
but when you think about it, if you live in a place where it's freezing cold, ice/snow-covered, and mostly dark for a large portion of the year - what else is there to do but rob neighbors, do drugs and knock up the Gov's kid????

Just as a side note, let's be a bit more tactful please. Trigg has Down's Syndrome which does include mental retardation as one of its manifested symptoms.
We should be a little bit less trashy. Then again some posters are always ignorant and I wish they were banned.

Imagine if Plank had become VP, then POTUS after the accident, it would have been like having the 'Trailer Park Boys' camping and hillbillying in the Whitehouse.
It would have very amusing but also worrying. And pity the maintenance guys having to repair all the stripped out pipework and lead off the roofs.

Just a wild guess, Ferro, but I think your referring to Idiocracy, a movie so dumb they incorporated it into the title.
theres a difference, they made a few mistakes with that movie, but the basic principle is sound.
Yes. A Beverly Hillbillies WH, and they'd build a Flintstones "Creation" theme park out back. Those shows were Reality TV for the wingers.

Obama won in an electoral landslide but when you think we were just 7% away in popular vote from having the Wasilla Hillbillies a 76 y/o man's heartbeat away from being in the White House. That is just plain scaaaarrrryyy when you think about it. Never misuderestimate the ignorance of conservative Amerika.
I'm not sure if it would be amusing, it would have been the complete and total end of America. I'm pretty sure America is finished anyway (not enough people pay attention to make any real difference against the owners of our society) but it would have come to a much faster end if McGrandpa and his Nurse were elected.
was Amusing....LOL! McGrandpa and his Nurse - I think about how awful that would be right now, almost every time Obama is speaking on TV....

On another subject, I mentioned this briefly on another thread, about Moyers show on PBS this evening. In the first half of the show he 'interviewed' William Black, who served as a senior regulator during the clean-up of the savings & loan debacle back in the late 80's.
Mr. Black made no bones about stating that what is going on with our economy is out-and-out fraud being perpetrated by the gov't, banks, insurance cos, and our friends on Wall Street. I didn't learn much new from him, but I thought it was refreshing to actually hear a person with some knowledge and authority speak so bluntly about the mess we have and who's responsible.
As I listened, I was lamenting the fact that Spitzer could have helped to alleviate some of this pain if they Bush goons hadn't brought him down.

Hooray! Thanks for the info maybe it will be up tomorrow.
No one ever seems to entertain the idea that there is criminal wrongdoing taking place with in the banks and with the tarp funds. They just seem to agree with each administration that we should keep throwing money at them, regardless, because they are too big to fail, americuns need to borrow more, blah, blah, blah....

Amitola that is about the most important perspective on the financial crisis yet. people should take the time to watch some of this.
he essentially is stating that Geithner, and the previous treasury department, are lying to us about the bank solvency and the criminal wrongdoing and conflict of interests.
Mr. Black's discussion with Bill Moyers tonight should be viewed by all U.S. citizens. Then I could clean up my pitchfork and get to work on some of the lying bastard knuckleheads he spoke of!
...like he never imagined anyone in our government could be Crooks & Liars!!
Tho, he may have been 'acting.' I think Mr. Black is quite courageous to speak the truth and I'll be sending the clip to everyone I know.
It's been clear to me for some time now that this 'crisis' has been engineered. Just the latest assault on the middle class by the greedy fascist elitist pigs. We are so screwed - however this turns out. Thats the most enlightening 28 minutes I have heard for a long time. In a nutshell in plain english.
One aspect Bill didn't really touch on, he gave us the 'how' of various regulators didn't do their jobs, but not on the why, which can be guessed at as revolving doors and large amount of financial lubrication to the regulators from the banksters and operators of hedgefunds.
Also missing but not quite on topic to the meltdown, was the related aspect of the naked short selling cabal, like a bunch of rabid weasels, they ran amok spreading destruction and despair in the markets. Their influence came from the culture of deceit, both to the norm and from its success.
Great interview! Thanks for that.
On another front, how many think that the IMF will sell some of its gold reserves? And if they do, how much impact will this have on the price of gold?
If a drone kills a child in Kandahar, do the crying parents make a sound?
$3.62 billion of year-end 2008 bonuses at Merrill Lynch.
So I'm over at my parents' house tonight, and after a very pleasant dinner, we're talking in the living room. My father is watching the clock for "his show" and when BOR comes on the screen, dad's glued and the volume is turned way up so he doesn't miss a beat. I tell him, like I always do, that people who watch this show fail current events quizzes and that he should watch a real news show. He ignores me, like usual, and watches BOR go into a tirade about Obama's speech in France.
BOR plays a clip of Obama explaining to his audience that the USA will be nicer to European nations, I predict that he's going to call Obama anti-American. I am proven right.
BOR plays a clip of Obama speaking French words and preaching peace. I predict that he'll turn it into Obama trying to turn us French, and lo and behold, O'Reilly's next "Talking Point Memo" is that he's using propaganda to shrink our American pride and lower our nation to the level of every other country, as if we're on a moral pedestal in the first place.
I give one more swell prediction when a clip shows Obama talking about global cooperation to fix the financial mess he inherited. I say he's going to call Obama a socialist. Instead, he calls him a communist. As far as I'm concerned, I'm 3 for 3, and Dad's mad.
Because of O'Reilly's bullshit, and because I called him on it in front of my brainwashed father, I get a glass of water thrown on me. In my nice clothes. By my dad. Because he loves Bill O'Reilly more than his librul daughter.
Yeah, there's issues with my dad, but sweet fucking Jesus Christ on a bike, Bill O'Reilly is Satan, or he at least signs contracts with him. This is what this asshole has brought to the world. I won't threaten any harm to him, but I'm going to dance the day he leaves this earthly realm.
Thanks for the vent. Good night.
your dad sounds exactly like my father in law. However, you should demand an apology from him. No offense, but he has a warped scale of values if he respects an idiot hillbilly on the TeeVee than his own daughter.
Your father's action/reaction was completely out of line. What he did was not cool at all.
I totally agree with Tyler.
If a drone kills a child in Kandahar, do the crying parents make a sound?
I get plenty mad at my daughter (and vice versa), but to throw water on her (in her nice clothes) is deplorable. I'm sorry but any father who would support Bill O to that extent has lost his mind. You need to walk away from that (if you can) before it gets worse.
As for your condemnation of Bill O, Bill isn't responsible for your Dad or his actions. Your Dad is a fucking jerk, and no way in hell should you let him get away with it.
I'm sorry, I adore my daughter and there is no way anyone should be treated like that.

They edited (used silence) out some of his words, and then had technical difficulties, then cut him off to go to commercials. MSM Censorship at its finest.
katie-- please read:
My Dad can get like that too. He doesn't throw water, he goes off to sulk and gives the silent treatment, sometimes for days. Sometimes there are tears and the, "I guess you think I'm stupid," line. (He's a smart-as-a-whip lawyer, but I'm not chopped liver. I can hold my own, every time.) (Except there are times it's just not worth it. It depends.)
Now, I just ignore him when he does that. The last time he cried, I told him, "Maybe you need a good cry," and walked away. The crying stopped in 3.5 seconds. (Is your Dad a control freak???) Hope that helps. I know EXACTLY how you feel!! Don't feed it. Try walking away.
People can only dump on you to the extent you let them. Be strong!! By the way, that is abusive what he did, and I've called my own father on that-- point blank. I got a phone call and an APOLOGY. The first time ever. I don't think he ever saw it as being abusive, but I made it clear, "If this is how things are, we are OVER. I don't need it, nor will I accept it. Over to you."
Just an idea. I
can imagineknow how upset you are. Throwing water is a clear sign of abuse.(signed, been there for 49 years, but getting wiser all the time.)
"If the US government enforced its banking laws like it did its park regulations, we wouldn't be
in this damn park in the first place." OCCUPY.!!
Throwing water is a major step up from where we were. And the biggest bullshittiest thing about this whole clusterfuck is that if we're not talking politics, we're fine. Loving, even. But he'll take a nice moment like our dinner tonight and find a way to insert his hateful brand of politics in it, and try to make me mad, and goddamnit, he succeeds.
It's not even that we differ. If we just had separate but equally respected opinions, that would be fine. But he purposely waits until all is nice and quiet, then turns on Bill O'Reilly, or blasts Sean Hannity on the radio in the car where I can't escape, or brings up Obama's "foreign" birth certificate as a topic of conversation amongst friends that we MUST talk about. He blasts the talking heads on the radio that declare I'm the enemy of America and wants me to listen to it and submit to him that I'm wrong and evil because I am a Democrat. He copies me on the letters he writes to NBC and the ACLU that O'Reilly bids him to write, and all of them are full of reasons why liberals (me) are stupid, unimportant, unserious, and bad people in general. What is he trying to prove to me? If he hates me so fucking much, why doesn't he just write ME a letter and tell me so, because that's basically what he's doing under cover of being "politically active." I just can't understand why this man who helped create me and danced with me at my wedding enjoys torturing me with his heroes that shit on everything I hold dear and making my heart hurt.
My father's broke, unlucky, uneducated, racist, sexist, and has made some stupid decisions in his life, and I'm not proud to say all of that, but it's the truth. It's people like him that I don't think can resist the authoritative but soothing brainwashing that they get from the rest of the scared white people in the world. He's a middle-aged white man who has been told that his "kind" is entitled to things that they didn't earn, like money, power, respect, and above all (ha) superiority. My father is not a superior man. He is a weak man. I know that he's going to keep embarrassing me and himself with this kind of shit because that is what makes him feel better, and that's what his heroes (threatened white men who make exponentially more than he does but tell him they're just like him) tell him should happen. I know he feels good when he gets mad at me for being liberal, I know he surges with energy when he sees me get upset or cry over a political fight with him, because that means he won, and winning is everything for someone who doesn't care about people. He doesn't see that I cry because my father is showing bare hatred for me, he sees that he's defeated the liberal enemy. He doesn't "get" that when he "wins" these battles, he's walking away with nothing. He doesn't get a big fat check, or a promotion, or respect. He gets more space in the relationship between him and his daughter, a son-in-law who can't believe his wife came from this guy, and a water-ruined suede couch. He's poisoned, and I don't think there's an antidote. O'Reilly and Hannity and Limbaugh tell him it's ok to yell at and throw water on your daughter when you're not winning an argument with her, because being louder than your opponent and embarrassing them in front of other people is how you win. This is not entertainment radio, this is hate radio, and it's not enough to hate "others," but you have to hate your own flesh and blood if they don't toe the conservative Republican line and give you the deference you "deserve" whether right or wrong--ESPECIALLY if wrong.
However.
He's my dad. I don't like him at all right now, but when politics are forgotten, he's my dad. When we're far away from Fox or the EIB network, he is a good and caring person who is interested in my life and wants to make it better. I don't want to lose my dad. Even worse, I don't want to lose my mom. To give up on a life with my parents in it because of my father's conditioned political responses wouldn't make me any happier.
So even with my enlightened vision of why my father is the way he is, I'll keep going over there. I'm probably going to come home crying every once in a while, but that's my life. I suppose throwing water IS a form of abuse, but I'm out of that house, it could be and has been far worse, my father and his party are politically impotent, and I have a wonderful husband who is incapable of rage and who votes Democratic. I'm ok.
One thing I always do is ask these type of people for verification of the information they are repeating. Most or even all I talk to can't. Good luck to you and your family. Don't give in and let him make you cry. He only thinks he's won.
And it helped me that I had people in my extended family that, even if they didn't agree with me, would stick up for me because it was just WRONG to push things until I cry.
However.
It wasn't until I talked to my dad (and by talked, I mean sent him an email. Cowardly, but that way he couldn't see me cry ad I could put it all out there without him interrupting) that he actually stopped.
What I said was basically this:
Ever since I took the initiative and let my father know how much he was hurting me (and believe me, I got it from my mother after sending that email. She said it nearly broke HIS heart), our discussions have been very different.
At first there were none, but that's impossible to maintain in my house. Now, hoever, we actually talk and have discussions, instead of abusive shouting sessions.
I really hope for the best for you and your father.
If you wish to try something like what I did, remember to do it at a time when you have NOT been arguing about politics. And while I know how much it hurts to threaten cutting him off, it is for your own mental stability. And believe me, he'll actually take you seriously when you threaten drastic measures.
sunnysongbird-- I did the same, first through e-mail with my mom. (My dad doesn't use computers, and I live in Korea.) Then on the phone. We had a frank discussion and it finallty sank in-- Dad, what you do is not cool. It's no wonder all of your kids live over 5 hours away-- by airplane (like thousands of kilometres). I think he gets it now. So far so good.

In reading your comments, it sounds like the symptoms of a family of an alcoholic or drug addict. I can't say that I know how to help you, but maybe if you sought out a counselor, for even a few sessions, who could help you understand the dynamic here, it would give you more of a sense of being in control of your end of the situation. It seems like your father uses these shows like some kind of drug to puff himself up and prove to himself that he's powerful. He's using this stuff to find a way to lash out at you in particular, like you symbolize all that's wrong in his world. You have my deepest sympathies, and I hope you'll be able to work through this and find a way to stop being victimized by it. I don't know that there's an easy answer, but I really believe a good counselor would help clarify things for you. Best of luck.
One side note: it's not just the uneducated or powerless who fall under the spells of O'Reilly and his ilk. I know some extremely smart, well-educated people who watch him too. It's totally mystifying.
I mean, I idolize my grandmother and want to be like her when I get older...
Except that she watches O'Reilly. I'll skip that part, thanks.
katie-- I only told you a bit about my father. He too can be a great guy, and often is, fantastic even, but he is an emtional abuser, and a CONTROL FREAK. To any outsider, he's charming and giving, fun and interesting, intelligent and well-spoken etc., etc. In private he demands you agree with him and he is always right-- the end. There is stuff online you can read. Read about emotional vampires, for starters, and go from there.

That is something, to hear about a father's politics trumping respect for his daughter.
Isn't it typical to hear how the "right" cannot discuss politics with people of differing opinion.
If you don't already agree with them, they can't be reasoned with.
As a bleeding heart liberal, with my friends, family, even strangers, if the discussion gets political, I can have empathy for the position or argument they are trying to make (even though I don't agree with them).
Then, after LISTENING, I try to make a gentle argument for "my side".
I know that I rarely if ever change someone's already rigid position, much less even manage to have them HEAR my point of view.
People who listen to O'Reily, Hannity, Beck, et. all are like zombies who have their own minds replaced with the talking points.
It's sad, I'm sure you love your father, he probably loves you and is actually embarassed by his behavior when he thinks about it.
I'm happy to hear that you actually seem to be able to "handle it".
I simply could not be around anyone who exhibited that kind of behavior around me, family or not.
Peace.

The only way to finish or win the war in Afghanistan is to kill every last man, woman and child in the country. Then, plow under every bit of land and sow it with salt. Burn down every city, town and village and then put a giant wall around the whole country to keep everybody out. Then they can declare victory. The same holds true with Iraq as well.

describes sattelite launch as a missile launch. Propaganda to put fear in the hearts of the weak minded.
SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea said preparations to launch a satellite were complete Saturday and liftoff was imminent, as U.S., Japanese and South Korean warships with radar plied waters near the communist nation to monitor what they fear is a long-range missile test.
Spy satellites trained high-resolution cameras on a coastal launch pad for a launch the North earlier advised international authorities would take place sometime between Saturday and Wednesday.
We realy do ahve every reason to believe that this is another test for a missile, instead of a satellite launch.

I don't like us going around and accusing other countries of things they didn't do and didn't plan on doing.
But Kim Jong-Il has made it known that he doesn't like us and wishes he had missiles that could reach us (but not that he would necessarily use them).
So why is he trustworthy again?
My post was about the media propaganda.
It's not propaganda to say that we suspect him to be launching a test missile instead of a satellite.
Better safe than sorry with him.
describe a sattelite as a weopon unless they have evidence to the contrary.
The USSR wasn't planning on building a communications satellite when they launched Sputnik. For that matter, neither was the US with our early launches into space. It was about spying and working out the kinks in the rockets that could carry long range ICBMs.
That we built communications satellites fairly soon, relative to the USSR, was only because we could afford to launch both military and commercial payloads.
And what's North Korea doing spending all that money on any space program when their people are starving?
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
negate the fact that the media is using propaganda to make this sound worse than what it is. Does anyone actually think the launch of one rocket could be a threat to the rest of the free world?
It probably is a missile. Kim Jong il doesn't care if the people are starving. He feeds his million-man army well, and the rich get their perks. They brainwash the mob day and night.
(Sound like anyplace, or anyone, you might know??)

We SUSPECT
we SUSPECT
we SUSPECT
SUSPECT
SUSPECT
It's not describing it as a weapon if we say, "We SUSPECT that this is really a missle, but HE says it's a satellite."
but it has been described as a three stage missile. At what stage could it not be shot down. If you don't recognize that our media is as bad as the Nazi media prior to WWII you are sadly mistaking.
From someone living here, I get the impression it's a big yawn in Seoul. I haven't heard a peep about it. The Japanese and American hawks are certainly playing it up though.

North Korea doesn't need long range rocket technology to hit South Korea. Hell, it would be counter-productive for North Korea to use nukes against the south.
For South Koreans, the situation can't change if those are long range missiles. They're still on the front line of a potential conventional war.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
How long have you been over there? I didn't realize you weren't up north (or down south if you're from southern Ontario).
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Oh. I went away for a while. I've been here in Korea for 12 years.
When I first came I was "all worried" and asked, should I be worried. (My North American brainwashing.) They thought I was weird. Worried about what? Obviously, N. Korea. But no one really seems to worry about it. It is never a topic of conversation. Americans make a big fuss over it, and some of the local money-grubbing conservative politicians (fear sells crap). The Japanaese conservatives squawk a lot, but they're selling stuff too, and grabbing for power.
NATIONALISM sells crap and is a powerful and blinding force. Stupids people right down to babbling, mindless morons. (See GOP supporters for example.)
When you live in other countries, especially one as different as Korea is, it's a real eye-opener on the planet. Different country, same BS. But for different reasons??
Not really. It's always about MONEY!! MONEY! MONEY!! And POWER!!!

I think he's very clever. He plays off all he world powers, continually, and seems to prevail. He could care less if anyone sees him as trustworthy. He's the one always winning.
Look at a map. No one wants to change the current power balance in East Asia, and he knows it. North Korea is the only thing between the Chinese, the Russians, and the Americans.
[Surrounded by US (bases), China, Russia and Japan. A war in Korea starts WWIII.]

North Korea itself isn't resource rich, and if the regime fell and the two Koreas were unified, the US would be out in a heartbeat. And I don't think China would worry a ton about another democracy on a rather short border.
Kim's a pariah to everyone.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Then one of his military leaders, one who is rational, in most probability, will take over.
With a rational actor, we can do more.
It's not like they've got a Politburo set up that could just step in. You can bet your as that if anyone outside of the family starts accumulating power, they aren't around for long.
It's not a Marxist-communist society. It's a dictatorship.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
The military system is more stable and will be able to last longer than the State itself.
Therefore, I redict that as a matter of course, a military leader will take power after a brief period of chaos once Kim Jong-Il dies.
...there wouldn't be infighting by players of equal strength inside the military?
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
But that doesn't mean that one of them won't take over in the end.
I allowed for that in the "brief period of chaos" part :-)
No one really wants Korea united (except perhaps the Koreans, and not even a majority of them-- and especially not the younger ones. They are against uniting.) The US does not want to lose it's bases on the East Asian mainland. They want bases this close to China (without the water barrier Japan presents.) Look at the problems trying to move the troops around the Middle East, getting rights-of-passage etc. China likes the buffer between them and the US bases, and so does Russia. Of course, no one says this, but after living here for 12 years, I can see this "logic". Oddly it's good the way it is for all the "superpowers".
PS Don't be fooled by "human rights" arguments. Those are often a red flag for "invasion imminent." (Provided you have reosurces to plunder, which N. Korea does not.)
PS The US has 1,000 bases worldwide now. From what I can see, they're not interested in packing any of them up. In fact, they seem to want MORE MORE MORE.
PPS Rummy spent tens of billions of $$ relocating and updating the Korean bases. They're here to stay.

He can't decide if Michele Obama is or isn't a strong woman based on her life choices, or whether or not she needed the President in order to make her into First Lady material.
Until he can figure out which is which, he keeps shooting wild, in the dark...

Administration Seeks an Out On Bailout Rules for Firms
Yet as Edwin mentions below, Obama is telling the banking CEOs essentially that they'd better shut up trying to excuse themselves, that he, Obama, is all that's standing between them and citizen pitchforks.
What is Obama up to?
this whole article sounds a bit fishy. i am loathe to ignore it, but there is zero corroboration and a nice little plug for the Bush Administration (Obama reversed regulation on bailout exec pay?). It may turn out to be real, but it sound sketchy at best. Anyone seen anything to support this premise?
And, quite honestly, I have a hard time buying into anything that's credited to a "government official". Which branch of government? Elected or appointed government official? What's the party affiliation?
In fact, the term is so vague that they could be quoting a state, county, city or township government official.
IIRC, when Scooter Libby was working as Cheney's chief of staff, he was credited by Judith Miller, in her Plame story, as a former Hill staffer. Yeah, he'd been a Hill staffer- during the GHW Bush presidency!
I believe in protecting sources, but this is so vague that it smells of sensationalism. And I've come to expect sensationalism from the inside-the-beltway media.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
this is a pretty inflaming topic to account to "no one". Not one single quote or name in the whole thing to support their allegations. But the source said that the Bush staff had included pay limits for bailout execs, but Obama took them out? The time line for that doesn't even sound remotely plausible. All in all, I would have to venture that this is a total fabrication, a "plant" to further damage Obama's standings in the polls.
McClatchy News Service is the only one that comes to mind right away as one that I'd trust with vagaries. There was a time when I'd trust the WaPo and the NYTimes coverage of the federal government, and there are a few columnists from each of those papers that still tell it straight, but those papers- and many other publications- betrayed the public too many times in the last 15 years.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
The wing nuts are in full swing, but there are a lot of people who are questioning the legitimacy of these claims. A couple have already linked information that directly contradicts this story.
In one part of the story, they even identify a government watchdog group anonymously? What the hell?
I want to be the first to state emphatically that this story is pure bullshit. As I stated in the comments sections, I bet it gets pulled.
I mean, really?
This smacks of conspiracy-theory type thinking, and I personally am laughing at it right now...

Why just imagine what the Rushthugliklans and the reichwing noise machine would be saying if the Obama's had and unwed tenage baby momma daughter, an almost-mother-in-law who was a drug dealer and a sister-in-law who broke into people's houses and stole. One could just imagine the racial overtones and stereotypes that would hurled.
