i did alittle reading on this and listened to some radio regarding the chrysler bankruptcy. on cNBC they
were hard on the fact that obama did NOT side with some investors/HEDGE funds. obama noted that
most everyone workers,bankers and other investors made concessions but others held out"speculators".
well two thirds of the lenders agreed to the governments' terms and this can force dissenting lenders to have to go along with the plan. the super majority of lenders can override the absolute priority of the secured lenders in bankruptcy. the HEDGE funds know this. i believe they may have a "self-interest". they may have taken insurance out(DERIVATIVE contract) if chrysler was to go into bankruptcy. the bankruptcy would trigger
payment. ANYways i am NOT sure about this but obama called their bluff. they may only get what they were offered by the government because again 70% of the other parties excepted. this would cause "cramdown" in court. if anyone knows chime in.
Did anyone catch that article on Yahoo earlier this evening about your taxes for next year? This tax rebate thing this year might cost you next year. It was very complicated but if both of you work and both get the tax credit from your employer one of you will have to cough up the extra $800---because only one credit per family. There were a lot of other things, even for those getting Social Security.
It is going to be a royal mess next tax season, as if it weren't already hard enough to keep up with the IRS.
The real purpose of the entire article was to put up headline the Rightwing Talking Point that YOUR taxes were going up because of Obama.

House Republicans are using images of the Pentagon burning on 9/11 and President Obama's "bow" to the Saudi leader in a video that accuses the president of making America less safe in his first 100 days.
The video is part of a new offensive by Republicans, who are in the midst of a party rebranding effort, to question the Obama administration's national security policies.
"What are Democrats doing to keep us safe," Republicans ask in the video, titled "Day 101," released Thursday morning.
Apparently, Republicans would rather see an attack on the Pentagon than watch our president accept a handshake, and they'd rather go to war against Iraq than smile in the presence of Hugo Chavez.
But as for the question at hand, who keeps us safe? Let's look at the scoreboard:

I don't get it. They make such a big deal over Obama bowing, but Bush walked around holding hands with the Saudis'. There are pictures of the guy kissing them for gwd's sake. i didn't think this would gain enough traction. the banks don't like it.......they made that clear. they want to be in control (as much as they can) of their losses. i read all three. sure enough that gem 'safe harbor' to protect mortgage servicers which i understand somewhat but seems to me they could engage in unscrupulous business ie.predatory lending. i thought the cram down ruling for bankruptcy judges would have moved this foreclosurecrisis to a 'floor' development. that would have been too efficient.

Of course I would never advocate for anything remotely like this in real life, but in my dreams about what would be real justice, it would go like this:
Under the anti-treaty Reagan signed, we have to prosecute or else extradite anyone who tortures.
Either that, or we have to allow other countries to prosecute.
Well, Cheney authorized torture, from what we can see, or at least there's enough that it needs to be investigated.
Also Cheney had no problem with extraordinary rendition for any American he thought that should be deemed to be an Enemy Combatant.
