how is that whole god thing working for you bluegal?

stumbled on this today

4 And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.
טו וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם, מֹשֶׁה: הַחִיִּיתֶם, כָּל-נְקֵבָה. 15 And Moses said unto them: 'Have ye saved all the women alive?
16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to revolt so as to break faith with the LORD in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of the LORD.
יז וְעַתָּה, הִרְגוּ כָל-זָכָר בַּטָּף; וְכָל-אִשָּׁה, יֹדַעַת אִישׁ לְמִשְׁכַּב זָכָר--הֲרֹגוּ. 17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
יח וְכֹל הַטַּף בַּנָּשִׁים, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-יָדְעוּ מִשְׁכַּב זָכָר--הַחֲיוּ, לָכֶם. 18 But all the women children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Heartwarming isn't it, to know Cheney was alive back then!

?

"how is that whole god thing working for you bluegal?"

You feel superior now? :-/

you post so much good stuff, why tarnish yourself by attacking a gal's faith?

i don't see her preaching down to you in any way.

let it go, brah...

Is America on its way to becoming a boiled frog?

It's kinda of late. Rachel Maddow has been asking the question for years.

Guardian UK: Most Americans don't believe humans responsible for climate change, study finds

About 49% of Americans believe the Earth is getting warmer because of the burning of fossil fuels and other human activity, the survey by the Pew Research Centre and the American Association for the Advancement of Science said. Some 36% attributed global warming to natural changes in the atmosphere and another 10% said there was no clear evidence that the earth was indeed undergoing climate change.

49% - human activity causing climate change
36% - climate change is natural
10% - there is no such thing as climate change
05% - non-respondent

has made us intellectually lazy and susceptible to various forms of stupidity.

But I think it's more the inconvenience of challenging our...well, conveniences.

so we all taste like chicken?

and the skin is so thin.

!!!

still thy tongue, lad, lest ye be showered with frogs.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

008:002
And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:

008:003
And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:

008:004
And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.

real good

Cali banks don't care about poor people. Christians got attacked in Iraq.

Meanwhile American Christians will whine and cry that they are being thrown to the lions all over again when other Americans don't just roll over and let the Christians dictate their lives, or when they don't get their flyovers....

(my apologies to all the progressive Christians here)

cute Obama impersonater stuck in my head. It'll probably still be there in my head tomorrow! :( *shakes fist*

"If you voted for me, if you voted for me, if you voted for me...."

Unstick it with this one. I'm sure it's more fun.

(I know I keep pimping it, but it's brilliant, and funny.)

being able to expand my news sources. I've got a subscription to the NYT on mine, a newspaper for France, and one for Valencia, Spain...

Besides giving my brain a nice daily stretch by reading in three languages, I also am able to get away from the junk on cable news networks. I learned some stuff I never would have if I left it up to CNN and MSNBC.... So woohoo on that. :)

and mr. sitemonitor,
what is not offensive about
a man dry humping a model?
is it just because it's a
comedian doing the humping?

please do tell....
a curious person inquiring

please everyone this is for fun

gave Bean some rhythm.
:<[)

Who are YOU talking to?

It was the self-spanking that got me excited.

Oh nevermind.

Naughty, naughty .... ;)

I loved the video, bluegal!

of the type that will caress rather than spank.

Duly noted!

:)

Keep that in mind, "please"!

C.I.A. Plan Involved Dispatching Small Teams To Assassinate Al Qaeda Leaders

New York Times:WASHINGTON " Since 2001, the Central Intelligence Agency has developed plans to dispatch small teams overseas to kill senior Qaeda terrorists, according to current and former government officials.

Why does the anthrax attacks come rushing back from my memories?

on hit squads being sent from darth cheney's office, why am I not hearing any reference to Sy Hearsh who had this story last year?

How is this any different from US policy already in place? I seem to recall Mohammad Atef being assassinated by a predator drone back in '01 or '02. Sure the CIA says that they are "not in the assassination business" but lets not be naive.

seymour hersh suggests they'd target anybody, even domestically.

is that possible? well, let's see... when amoral people are given absolute power, with no oversight, what results ought we expect? is there any historical precedent which might prove instructive?

most of us certainly are already suspicious of the anthrax attacks. many of us question the timing and mannner in which paul wellstone died.

what about gary webb? william colby? nick berg? barry jennings? hell, hunter s. thompson?

too chilling to consider?

bill cooper? madam palfrey? etc., etc...

DC Madam: all over the news day and night. Found dead in a garden shed; total silence.

A pop singer found dead in his home (or Anna Nicole, if you'd prefer), wall-to-wall coverage for the next 3 years.

I'll love to see the baby that comes out of those two... They should name him/her Beanonce.

I'll tell you how stupid they think we are. The CIA had a secret program that they didn't disclose to congress for 8 years and now they have stopped it. They say they have never used the program but they have stopped the program. How many of you that have jobs where the company had any kind of a plan that they didn't use. Now if it was a plan that they put in place and it wasn't getting the results you wanted, believe me, you wouldn't wait 8 years before you canceled the plan.

Now another question. If you had such a plan and nobody put the plan in action, who would even remember anything about the plan to come forward and stop it?

Again, they think we're stupid.

yes

very!

how are the ladies treating you?
how are you treating the ladies?

I must be on their ignore lists. How is your roommate. That was you wasn't it?

but, frankly, a lot of us are proving them correct.

Journalists Of Color Demand Fox News Apologize For Brian Kilmeade Comments

UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc., a "multicultural coalition of national journalism organizations with an outreach to over 10,000 supporters," has issued a petition calling on Fox News and its parent company, News Corp. to take steps to remedy recent offending remarks made by "Fox and Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade on the show's July 8 episode.

i know it's all president obama's fault........according to cantor.

Palindrone thinks what the public is looking for is a more "bi-partisan" option. The "evil" socialist government of Great Britain managed to save a girl with a bad heart problem, in spite of "rationing" her care by putting her on a waiting list. Sotomayor admits she got into college by not being a rich white cokehead. The "liberals" at TIME try to argue that Obama-care is bad for independent doctors. Meanwhile, the AP rants against his "massive spending".

Now I have to have that image stuck in my head.

Tonight I watched "Teddy Kennedy in his own Words" It was mesmerizing. And reminds me of how courageous and downright human Senator Kennedy has been as well as an outstanding spokesperson for Health Care for all. I even learned why he has been so passionate about it for most of his career... when his son developed bone cancer and had to have his leg amputated.

Wouldn't it be nice to see health care passed by the end of the year if for no other reason than to honor the name of Senator Edward Kennedy and all his family has given this country?

Please make it a reality for Americans, President Obama.

john ostrander is one of my fav comic book authors....

he has health insurance...AND HE CANT AFFORD HIS TREATMENTS FOR GLAUCOMA

where is that fucking shrink from canada...i want him to face mr ostrander and his friends and family, and please explain why he should go bankrupt for the good of the capitalist system

why should a great author lose one of the tools that makes him a great author?

why are we the only western country that has no care for its own citizens?

im so tired

tonight i had an argument with a wingnut friend of mine

for years, he had a blue cross policy with a 1k deductable...he finally decided he couldnt afford it...so he got an 8k...which means he pays for everything until someone (god forbid) becomes so ill as to need long term hospitalization

he marveled at how it cut his costs...and why cant everyone just do that

of course, he has no prob dishing out 150 bux each time his kids so see a doctor, and he has no prob paying out for meds

you know what his solution was? juste get rid of insurance companies totally...let people pay out of their pockets...if they cant afford it...too bad

he really is a lovely person (who is very overweight and on the road to a nice cardiac arrest)

they just dont get it...and they never will

so there really is no point in trying to win them over

give us single payer now

keep up the good fight

didn't know you dug comics. ostrander's a good writer...

first comes baseball, then comics, then politics

i was a regular attendee of the san diego comic con for years...until hollywood discovered it...and turned it into an abomination

will not fight for space with tweeners wanting to see the twighlight cast

The rule of law is politically expedient.

but this time it wasnt israel who blocked it

http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=100472&s...

funny...where is the outcry from all those who say they care so much about the poor gazans?

the silence is deafening

I agree, that's not good.

Their reason is this: "...saying they have not received a list of the names of the members of the convoy." Which would seem a standard thing to supply for any border crossing. If they get the list and still don't let the convoy across, there is a problem.

It still does not justify Israeli actions, it's just (potentially) more bad behaviour.

AIG's Latest Failure: Climate Change - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/07/aig-c...
It's true--before AIG collapsed, it had launched an ambitious new program designed to deal specifically with everything related to climate change. According to Climate Wire, AIG's controversial decision to get into the business of climate change--which was loathed by certain oil company bigwigs--was going to lead the company into pretty progressive and downright ambitious territory.

Shocker! World's Dirtiest Coastal Ecosystem Revealed...and It's in the USA - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/07/missi...
The surprising part is just how dirty the Mississippi is--we knew it was polluted, as it rounded out our list of the world's dirtiest lakes and rivers. But the fact that it's worse than the grossest coastal habitats in Southeast Asia or Bangladesh is truly alarming.
After all, the countries that contribute to the pollution of rivers like the Mekong and the Ganges are poor, developing countries--not that that should be an excuse, but when the richest nation in the world has the dirtiest coastal habitat, the picture for marine conservation gets pretty bleak.
So what makes the Mississippi so dirty? One word, farming. River conservation has got to become a priority--not just in the US, but around the world. And since we've done some of the worst damage, perhaps its time we take some initiative and lead the way by tightening up regulations on what farmers can dump or allow to leech into the Mississippi. It'd be a start. Yay, we're number 1! USA!

The Oil and Gas Companies definately get the best of both worlds, unlike the American taxpayer. While extracting natural resources from public lands that are owned by all of us, they also get to take us for a ride in more ways than just gouging prices. An ideas piece by Nick Rahall, the Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources has spelled out some of this welfare given to Corporations that posted record profits on the backs of the American consumer in the last several years.

'Medicare Secret Exposed' Pass it on... - http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/13/7...
Those who fail to challenge head on the attacks on "government-run" healthcare or dismiss proposals for single payer because we need a "uniquely American" plan undermine their own campaign for the public "option".
And, they devalue the tremendous and proud achievement we have made with our "uniquely American," made in America health care plan, Medicare.
Nurses have a better idea. Why go half-way and risk the danger or likelihood of insurance company and conservative sabotage of the public plan? If Medicare is a better option, let's extend it to everyone. That proposal is known as single-payer, and we know it is a unique American program with a history of success.

Afghanistan Women's Rights Still In the 'Stone Age' - http://blog.buzzflash.com/analysis/857
Although the Taliban has been out of power for eight years in Afghanistan, their presence is still strongly felt legislatively and socially. Many of the country's laws still uphold the archaic view of women held by the Taliban. As their lives remain strongly controlled by these laws and viewpoints, women in Afghanistan are silently struggling for the right to be free from oppression.
So basically 'we liberated them' is a bunch of .... we basically just changed the management...to World Bank, IMF, WTO approved 'leadership'....

"Don't bet against us. We are going to make this thing happen," said Barack Obama to reporters yesterday when he announced that he expected a Senate Health Plan to come out of Max Baucus' Finance Committee by the end of the week.

Obama is committed to having this plan out before Congress takes its August vacation (does it dawn on you that these guys take a lot of time off? I guess when you're collecting from insurance companies and other lobbyists you have to make appearances attheir summer gatherings...), and time is running out.

In the House, majority Democrats expect to introduce legislation today that would prohibit insurance companies from denying coverage or charging higher premiums on the basis ofpre -existing medical conditions. Why they don't get the insurance companies out of the mix altogether with a single-payer system is puzzling to a majority of Americans who would like it... until you look at the millions of dollars of spending on Congressional campaigns as they buy in to control our elected officials.

Another Senate committee - Health, Education, Labor and Pensions - is also expected to complete a partisan bill (the Finance Committee's bill has been pushing for bi-partisanship as it gave up item after item of necessary revisions to the currenthealth care system) that would create a government-run health plan to compete with private insurers and require employers to provide coverage. This will not attract Republican support... but it is questionable whether Republican support is needed (unless you show the usualwhimpery of Harry Reid.)

Today should be an interesting example of performances in the Congressional Circus.
