I did a mosaic as a kid which wound up on exhibition at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. I was enormously proud of that.
I have always loved mosaics. Now, I have a project to do a mosaic tiled floor in my house.
This is very beautiful. I love it.
I can't get enough of it. I cried when I saw it. I still feel like I'm dreaming.

25 years ago I did a mosaic when I was stoned. Can't remember exactly where it ended up, but I was convinced it was other-wordly. Looking back, I'm sure it sucked.
(I'm sure it will re-surface when Obama nominates me to the Supreme Court.)

The ferry boats in the Seattle-Victoria-Vancouver area are a treat. Wonderful way to travel slowly, enjoying the majestic scenery, even meeting interesting people.

I lived in Vancouver for a few years in the early 70's. If I had it to do over I'd have spent a lot more time island-hopping by ferry. Each island has its own unique climate, flora & human culture. One could probably spend a lifetime making the rounds.
Then there's the Pacific Trail on the west coast of Vancouver Island .. omg!

My own speculation is that ECRI’s recession call is late this time around. There was solid evidence for a recession call in January 2008. Unfortunately, ECRI was hoping that rapid rate cuts by the Fed could help avert a recession. They did not realize that this particular recession, driven by a deflating credit bubble, would increase the time needed for monetary stimulus to work itself into the economy.
Hence, until NBER announces the official recession dates for this cycle, I will assume that it began in January 2008.

People are paying up to $50,000 for a weeks stay in tiny apts during the inauguration-and up to $100.00 to sleep on the floor in sleeping bags in churches, community centers, ect...too.
