It's incredible that the reason someone like Michelle Bachmann is able to stay in office just because of how her district is set up. I personally feel that such a set up ( gerrymandering to create 'safe seats') is one of the main reasons why politicians do not feel they are answerable to their constituents. Gerrymandering should be done away with.
that thr rules change when they have the majority in their state legislation. That's why it doesn't make sense to vote 3rd party until they build up in the local elections.

Have you known anyone personally who has taken thorazine or had a mental illness? Do they deserve to be compared to scumbags like Michelle Bachmann? If any of you at C&L have criticized Dr. Laura for spouting the N-word (and you should), then you ought to reconsider how much you've used mental illness for your name-calling. There are plenty of good and functioning people who have mental illness, some of them liberals like us. Do you really need to insult them in the process, because it's so important to insult Bachmann?
This being Labor Day (when I wrote this, day after now), I'd like to make sure readers know about the wonderful Anne Feeney, "unionmaid, hellraiser, and labor singer."
Anne is being treated right now for serious cancer and can use all the support she can get. Donations are needed, of course. When performers can't perform, they can't earn a living. Besides that, though, I'd like to recommend to Blue Gal's friends that they check out some of Anne's music. And while you're at it, buy some. :-)
