Clark Howard brought this up on his radio show the other day. I guess many consumers don't consider the children's costume jewerly that is being sold, as a toy. He also mentioned that there are certain watchdog groups out there, going from toy store to toy store with hand held, portable x-ray machines determining the lead content of toys while they are still on the shelf.
One and a half million people are enclaved in Gaza by the US-financed and armed Israeli military forces in violation of Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits Collective Punishment and other brutalities against civilian populations.

it will be somewhat interesting to see how this 'bailout' drama continues. several right wing types on capitol hill are making sure they confuse the public with the $70 per hour for union auto workers. they did the same by put heavy blame on joe & julie average mortgage/homeowner. to me and i could be mistaken but i believe this is a lot of smoke screen to further weaken unions and to get more bailout money for hedge funds. these derivatives designed by financial engineers/computer models have created more problems then they are telling us.

Sounds like your a little more concerned than usual Canuck, and I don't blame you.
I'm in S. Carolina. After a week of warmer weather (overnight lows of 55 to 65 degrees) we are dipping into a cold snap where temps could get below freezing. This might not seem like much of a big deal, considering where your from, but it does have a lot of us here worried. The biggest worry we have is not the snow, but freezing rain which can be even more dangerous than snow if your not use to driving on it.
Being a former midwesterner, I always get a kick out the reactions of Carolinians to cold weather. Groceries sell out, school is cancelled if there is even a mention of snow in the reports and instead of salting the roads, sand is hauled in from the beaches.
I still get a kick out of the reactions, not only of the people, but the news stations..."winter storm '08!"

I think one problem with Hollerwood, is they make "comedies" starring one hot comic, and then surround him with a bunch of people with nothing to do but react off of him. That's both bad writing and bad movie making.
I'd like to see the return of comedy teams. I saw the potential for a new comedy duo in to dumb crooks trying to rip off an ATM machine in the movie Barbershop (2002). Anthony Anderson and Lahmard Tate were absolutely hilarious in a more hood version but still familiar Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello way. In fact, the whole movie reminded my of O Henry's Gift of the Magi, and Damon Runyon's gangster comedies, but in a good way.
Great actors! I haven't seen Rosencrantz and Guildenstern yet but I'll be on the lookout for it. Funny(heh) how some actors more noted for their villainous roles make great comedy. Alan Rickman comes to mind.

God Willing: Amazon Pollution Case Could Cost Chevron Billions - http://www.miamiherald.com/news/americas/AP/s...
When the sun beats particularly hot on this land in the middle of the jungle, the roads sweat petroleum. A Rhode Island-sized expanse of what was once pristine Amazon rainforest is crisscrossed with oil wells and pipeline grids built by Texaco Inc. a generation ago.
And for the past 15 years, a class-action lawsuit has been winding its way through the courts on behalf of the more than 125,000 people who drink, bathe, fish and wash their clothes in tainted headwaters of the Amazon River. Now a single judge is expected to rule in the case in 2009 from a ramshackle courtroom in this northern frontier town. Statements from a court-appointed expert suggest Chevron Corp. - which bought Texaco in 2001 - will be held responsible for the many oil spills and dumping of wastewater.
If Chevron loses, it could be ordered to pay up to $27.3 billion in damages, though an appeal would be likely.
