Congratulations!
very nice honors with good competition. good job driftglass.
I didn't see a post about the Jan 14th supreme court decision, where illegal searches and seizures could be used now to prosecute criminals? Does that mean if I step to far on this site I can now be jailed for being a terrorist or what? Any chat logs obtained can be used to prosecute us? Are you kidding me?
Thanks.
Supreme Court Eases Limits on Evidence
That's good info.
WTF is the sliding scale?
A bad hair day?
I'd better invest in some pricey suits before getting arrested next time...
Thanks for the link x...
I am such a freak, thanks. Now I am flipping over the press conference in New York where they are handing out certificates of doing your job right. What a waste of money, politicians are having party's all over the place. Start working clean your crap up!
And the turkey will soon be gone. Let us give thanks and pass the gravy.
I never thought that I would ever quote Reagan, but on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009: It will be Morning in America once again.
Libertylover: While I appreciate celebrating Obama's inauguration, I'm thinking of making 1/20 "Bush finally out of office day". I figured we get a black President eventually, but to have two Bushes leave office in disgrace is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Anyway...
Will the Pentagon actually leave in 16 months? Will Bush pardon anyone else soon? The SCOTUS says police incompetence at your constitutional expense is acceptable. U.S. schools are even more academically segregated than ever. A court upholds Bush's spying program. Madoff was good at lying about trading. The Vatican hates family planning for human trafficking victims. Atheists have a problem with an inauguration line. If Johnny Knoxville wasn't white, do you think he could get away with bringing a non-working grenade to an airport? If Cali can't beat gangs, it'll try to sue them for damages. UNICEF notes infant mortality is higher in teen parents than in 20-something parents. A white guy gets saved from death row, because Texas was racist against black jurors. Kellogg has to take down peanut butter crackers over the salmonella scare. A majority of Americans still buy into the tax cut lie.
Bush continues to play the denial card until his last day. BofA is allowed to make even more mistakes.
if i have this correctly BofA said a couple/few months ago they did NOT need TARP money. these creidt default swaps, mortgage backed securities and the buying oil futures(speculation)driving up the price with NO connection to supply and demand has hurt many in this country. i understand risk but this has been ridiculous. BUSH was in on it. he gave his supporters more DEREGULATION like his buddy ken lay(sp) the ENRON guy. BUSH will always take some blame regarding this failing economy.
i'm NOT going to miss the imperial/dictator BUSH. i remember when he was elected and how disapointed i was. i remember how he and his followers reacted to 9-11. how i was sure there would be NO wmd. i was in a RED area. when i disagreed i was called names along with liberal. i never did respect BUSH as a president. to me he was over his head. he did surprise me on how far he went to destroy the democracy of this country:habeus corpus,torture/rendition and wiretapping. he used his leverage post 9-11. the country was somewhat united but he wanted to further divide the country. the country is "fighting a war for freedom by trampling human rights" two recessions, two wars, botched response to an attack and a failure when responding to a natural disaster. what i remember is senator byrd telling us that this president is ignoring the legislative branch. no checks and balances but plenty(record) of signing statements and ongoing secrecy/cronyism. no-bid contracts tax cuts for wealthy,changed/redacted environmental data. he only had interest in his supports that 10-20% greedy/wealthy. the people involved in ENRON and bonzi schemes. the people that lobbied for deregulation of the financial institutions. the people/corporations that hide their losses from the sec in foreign accounts. BUSH didn't respect his position or the people he was suppose to govern. i don't believe he respects himself. to me many the actions taken or NOT taken by BUSH were for financial gain from Katrina to iraq. BUSH will always remind me of tyranny/imperialism/authoritarian NOT a stateman who could govern people.
To me above all Bush was a thug, a petty dictator who abused American miliatry power so he, his father, and the dirty insiders from Cheney on down could profit from the illegal invasion of a country that never attacked us.
Congrats Driftglass!
And for those that like that ObamaconMe site, check out the Palin shirts here: http://www.printfection.com/yikes
Cheers!
Congratulations driftglass.
to the families of those geese that were attacked by another U.S. plane in their own sovereign territory.
I guess Bush means he kept America safe after letting 3,000 people be killed.
Who says stars are out of touch with the common folk again? The nation-wide ice storm is screwing it up for the unemployed.

3 Days until the United States of America joins the 21st Century....
LONG OVERDUE: Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) has introduced the Save Our Climate Act that would impose a tax on carbon-based fossil fuels to slow climate change. - http://www.house.gov/stark/news/111th/press/2...
The Save Our Climate Act imposes an initial tax of $10 per ton of carbon content on fossil fuels when they are initially removed from the ground or imported into the United States, resulting in approximately a 2 cents per gallon increase. The tax will increase by $10 each year, freezing when a mandated report by the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Energy determines that carbon dioxide emissions have decreased by 80 percent from 1990 levels.
The 80 percent level is the reduction estimated by the International Panel on Climate Change to be necessary to prevent the catastrophic consequences anticipated from rapid climate change.

'Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman said the government could borrow up to $5 trillion -- if needed -- to speed up a recovery from the recession. A stimulus plan of that size is probably not needed, but Krugman said he believes the $775 billion proposal from President-elect Barack Obama isn't big enough.'

Craig Crawford: The Bush team learned how to cut corners in the 2000 election, avoiding a final recount of Florida's challenged ballots by going to the United States Supreme Court to stop it. In many ways that experience produced an attitude that any obstacle, even the Constitution itself, can be circumvented with the right set of machinations.

But I ain't gonna rest easy until Obama's been in office for awhile...
I just don't trust the outgoing administration at all...
Okay
You're a pair of noids.

Only 4 more days!!!
I can't believe it!!!
I just hope that it passes by without incident.
and i dont trust the incomeing administration at all,i believed and still do that the american voter was forced to pick from two republican lites , hillary and obummer , even obummer admited that he and hillary were close on thier views on politics, and hillary was and still is a republican , barry was elected because the voters assumed you can trust a black man more then one whos white, but useing rice and powell as examples that bursts that bubble,my first clue that obummer was hardly different then bush was his stated opinion that america was still willing to waste our treasury and more lives to gain a complete victory in afganistan , he further stated he didnt think that american troops would be completly withdrawn from iraq by the end of his first term, pardon me for useing his own words in speaches when hes not in office yet, then he goes to israel and kisses thier ass , now hes dineing with the repig pundits , praising mccain , why will i not be surprised if he plants a big smootch on bushes ass when hes boarding the helicopter for the last time on the whitehouse lawn, and bush says thanks a lot barry and tell nancy and ried thanks too for not prosicuting my rummy ass for all the crimes i commited against the american people!
Let's at least let him get into office and start to actually work on the MANY problems facing this deeply troubled nation.
I'm not crazy about everything Obama's done since elected, but overall, I gotta say...I'm optimistic.
Give him some time.
If this version of capitalism, as corrupted as it has become, is going down, I doubt there is much that Barack Obama can do to stop it. Hopefully he can lead us to clean up the mess that is being left at our doors.
But we are still falling. We haven't hit bottom yet.
Actually this is no longer capitalism but corporatism.
And as for rock bottom I'm working on the calf extension weight equipment.
ysb exactly the corporations will force the american people to become bottom feeders, thier is no difference in partys now both are just shills for the rich ,
will force us to become revolutionaries.
of "ism's going on here. Fascism, corporatism, colonialism, Imperialism. But the media tells us to fear SOCIALISM!
well its a good thought trantorian but my guess is obummer wasnt put in office to stop whats been happening if that was the case he wouldnt be preaching more war in afganistan or further chenys plans to keep the army in iraq, its bushes and chenys wars , and come tuesday its bush cheny and obummers war, and every dollar spent by barrys going into the war profiteers pockets!
We can't just leave either countries overnight.
I don't think we should have invaded Iraq, but now that we're there...to abruptly leave would leave a power vacuum.
Like Afghanistan suffered after we help drive out the Soviets...we gotta clean up the mess first, then we can leave.
lib i really have very little choice , i had hopes maby he wasnt what he seemed to be , but thats gone , i think he and the dumbocrats and repigs will keep bushes policys going more war and profits for the arms industry and they will keep people off the streets rebelling against the dictatorship the repig corporations are strangeling us with by offering far to few jobs for the unemployd all the while they are stealing more money from the tax payers , for every job they create thier will be ten other guys fighting over the next crummy job thats offered, keep the masses fighting each other not the government ,its going to be a return to the 30s when the hireing boss came out picking and choosing who was going to get a days work, and most probably the guy who gets picked will have to give a kickback of his pay to the hireing boss!
I seriously doubt that's what Obama's about...
He may not be a saint...but I don't believe he's wanting the people to suffer.
And besides...if the people DO suffer, after awhile, the infighting will stop, and we'll focus on the ones who are causing the suffering.
This has happened time and time again throughout history...we may go through all kindsa hell before something does happen...but it will happen.
http://www.uclick.com/client/nyt/tt/
and the ones who have caused any suffering will be held accountable by whom? as far as i can see no one high up has ever been really brought to justice! as for as what hes about! can we agree that iraq and afganistan have just about brought america to its knees paying for a profeshional army and a bunch of well paid mercinaries like blackwater and for what? democracy hell we dont even enjoy that in america , now barrack says hes not going to inconvience the rich as he promissed in his election bid , because its going to keep them from contributing to your welfare by creating jobs , hell they allready got your money why should they worry about your being employed ? and instead of saying hes going to cut the pentagons spending hes looking into cutting programs for the average people , most probably social security, welfare ect , good luck on any change from these bunch of sleazy bastards !
I heard this morning that Bank of America received another $20 billion in TARP money. THat's $45 billion for one company so far. I don't really favor any of these bailouts but if BofA can get $45 billion so easily why was congress giving the big 3 such greif?
